As a patient living (and dying) with IPF, I’d give anything to have this pulmonologist on my team. He understands dying is not an error or a mistake; it’s part of life we all will experience. Having a doctor who gets it, is a gift for a patient who’s accepted it.

@@neen42 Thank you for your kind words. I try to stay rooted in the present, find gratitude every day, and not give much thought about the tomorrows - they aren’t promised to any of us anyway.❤️

I hated him at first- then I was like DUDE should do a podcast with Dr Drew! He definitely warmed up, just saying.

What an amazing physician!! Two years ago today my husband was on the vent due to Covid. He survived. He’s beat up… 2 strokes that stole his balance and half of his vision, damaged lungs, BUT he hasn’t lost his love for life, family , and GOD. Humor has definitely been a helper through it all.

I'm a retired acute care hospital nurse and I absolutely LOVE you both!!! Thank you for all that you do in exposing and bringing sensitive issues to the forefront in such a humorous (but serious) way, and for advocating for the most important element of Medicine ~ Compassion and Love💝

Dr. Ely is amazing. I had been hoping you would have him on. I first watched him on an interview with ZZDogg MD a few years ago. Truly a special man. My son will be starting his Fellowship in ICU Critical Care next year❤

I just want to say your videos have had a big influence on me wanting to go into medicine. Previously, I was just doing general classes, but I’m now taking human anatomy and excited to do med school in the future.

I’m part of the critical care family and I found this conversation particularly engaging. I don’t know if it’s because I have a bias towards ICU stories or if it’s just because Dr. Ely seems like a remarkable person. Great show, love the content!

I LOVE YOUR PODCASTS! As a rapidly aging woman, I find the more I interact with medical personnel, the more I need the info you so freely disseminate - even the anecdotal stuff is helpful! Thank you both - and special thanks to Dr. Will for granting your lady such respect! She certainly deserves it!

It makes me so happy that Dr. Wes is talking about the neurological effects of long covid. My best friend (20 when she got covid in 2019) has suffered immensely due to it. She went from being extremely active, traveling, dancing, half way through her Bachelors in Psych, etc. to now being wheelchair bound, developed POTS, Hashimoto’s, Epilepsy, Dementia type symptoms, COPD-like symptoms, CFS/ME, and more. She was perfectly healthy, got a mild case of covid, and has never recovered. It’s been 4 years since she got sick, and she’s only now being taken seriously by health care providers.

Every single critical care pulmonologist I have met, and unfortunately I’ve spent a lot of time with them in the ICU as they helped him through the end of his life, and they are truly the best of the best doctors. I’m glad Dr. Ely spends time teaching med students, we all have some things to learn from him

omg - loved this so much! Wish Dr Ely could be my doc (but I don't want to be in ICU for that to happen :) )) Was hoping he would talk about actual pulmonnology stuff like ppulmonary hypertension, lung nodules, copd etc. - maybe bring him back sometime?
