What bothers me the most in the best ending is that we don't even get to see Sean. I didn't want to just see a picture of him being happy. This is why it left me so hollow.

Blood brothers will forever be my favourite ending, I know it’s technically not a “good” ending but for me I just wanted the two of them together in Mexico, it was Sean’s wishes for them to be together and I couldn’t bare to split them up. Tbh all the other endings are too sad for me

That's exactly how I see it too, I agree so much, and besides, their bond and affection not only still are there but seem stronger than ever. All the other endings felt way too depressing and unfair to me. I always, always privileged their being together no matter what and forging an even more solid brotherly relationship throughout all the adversity with my choices, and Blood Brothers is really the best outcome among all that I could have wished for... All I really wanted for them was to be able to stay and grow together as brothers their age should be able to. Sure it's not the ideal ending we would have pictured for them by far, yet it just goes to show what the injustice, lack of understanding or compassion, or downright malice of other people and life in general can do to an otherwise good or decent human being, I like the realism in it. Every other ending where they get separated completely tore my heart apart and left me with this unbearable lingering feeling of "this feels _so_ wrong" and unfairness, and that is exactly the reason why I can't go and play the game again even though I wish I did.. it's simply too painful, especially considering I already got the best ending I could have hoped for on my first go. Dang, what a rollercoaster of emotions this story has been, that alone makes it close to a sheer masterpiece to me T-T.

15 years, for assault, 2nd degree murder and resisting arrest. i know he didnt ACTUALLY kill the cop but regardless, that cant be proven without believing in the super natural, also 15 years for multiple counts of theft (depending on the choices) drug possession, child endangerment and destruction of public and private property. i'd see the justice system gave him a pretty fucking good sentence for what he could be accused for.

@@almightyypowerr I mean in dnd terms I would put blood brothers as simply chaotic neutral or good as defining neutral evil would be to harm others with no goal in mind or for a selfish unneeded reason Which in blood brothers it basically is needed because we know Sean did not deserve what happened and crossing the border is the only way to escape that But for all they know the cops will kill them if they don’t strike first It was not an act of evil it’s an act of survival the most basic human instinct calling it evil is wrong it’s neutral because it was done simply for survival a good darn reason Lone wolf is chaotic evil because of the nature of the evil is against the law it’s not pure evil Redemption: it’s lawful neutral because it’s not right the law is corrupted it was nit a good action to bend to the will of a corrupt law as in most moral play throughs you don’t brake the law unless nessesery and I personally believe that the statement of “the law is blind“ works both ways The law helps those without prejudice in theory but also it damns those without Mercy in theory . It’s very interesting to me cause after I had my play through, I had told my mom about the game and she said it sounded interesting so I played along with her and let her make her own decisions. She ended up getting Sean and Daniel in Mexico and I got Sean in prison and Daniel living a normal life. I asked her to see the other endings and she said sure. After watching them again we had a long conversation about what we thought about the endings. I said my ending was the best because I’ve recently became an older brother and I know that I would sacrifice anything to let my little brother have a small chance of being a normal kid. My mom said she thinks the one with Daniel and Sean splitting up is the best one since Daniel seems happy with his life at home and Sean gets to be in Mexico. She then went on to explain that it’s because, as a parent, she’d want both kids to be happy and split up then one of them unhappy and together. She noticed that Daniel wasn’t happy with the way things were when they were both in Mexico and pointed out the bandana on his wrist. She thinks that he became a cutter because he realized what he did at the boarder was wrong and he feels empty since he can’t make it right. I thought it was far fetched because they have an auto shop but it is a possibility. Anyways, I think the endings were used to interpret which ones were best depending on our personal lives and such. My mom had so much thought on a game and she’s never played a single game in her life other than puzzle game on her phone.

To me them splitting up with Sean meeting Cassidy in Mexico is probably the "best" happy ending...while Sean taking responsibility by going to jail is the better ending morale-wise. Also you have to consider the stuff you do not see in the ending...like living in mexico surely isn't that easy. And on the other end after jail he is always free to visit his mom, brother, friends not being trapped in mexico for the rest of his life. Also it seemed like he improved his drawing skills a lot in prison, even drew a full comic...I took this as a hint that this might be the path where he follows his passion to be an artist.

@@folklorevermore13 Well you deserved it. You raised Daniel with High Morality, his morality is high meaning you've taught him to be caring and not to take his anger out on people also to use his powers only for the good like saving Stephen from getting his leg injured by a huge ass closet, saving a kid from being hit by a car, etc. You taught him to be a overall good and caring person so even though his Brotherhood is high thats not how he was raised and he doesn't want to go to Mexico, he just wants a good life for him and his brother, so when Sean decided to cross the border Daniel doesn't exactly refuse. He just does whats right and puts matters into his own hands by giving him and his older brother a good life, I say all of that to say....That is why Parting Ways is my personal favorite ending since there is no best one or worst one (Lone Wolf passes though).

Cause that aint redemption he just goes into jail for a crime he did not commit I mean sure they made a lot of shananigans along the way and burnt 1 or 2 houses here and there but 15 Fcking yrs?? No fcking way man... The freedom afterwards aint worth shit cause you always will have in your mind " I went for a crime that i didnt commit into jail for 15 yrs, lost most of my youth.." but then Daniel gets a nice life.. I actually like the redemtion ending the best because it is the choice i would honestly make my self (i am a pussy, i aint messing with the police) however, i completely understand your side. I dont want to sound too harsh but the first incident in seattle isnt the only crimes they commit. To start off, even if he didnt kill the cop the cop is still dead due to daniels accident so thats second or third degree murder. It does suck, but daniel did do it even if it was not intentional and no way are the police believing a 9 year old did that. You have running from the police for months (only makes them look guiliter while also adding a sentence), grand theft auto at the hospital, assaulting the guard if you left that way, or even Joey (the kind nurse), arson for the church and other building (as you mentioned), damaging private and public property (hotel room, the wall, the police station, weed farm, gas station etc), drug possesion/working on an illegal weed farm, causing harm to the racist at the first gas station, child endagerment is possible for draging daniel through it all as well. Plus the optional crimes you can commit throughout the game. Even if they DID believe in daniels power, and could overcome that issue they were not innocent. Plus even if Sean wasnt the one who did it and thats proven, he is still an accessary to the crime due to running away, trying to hide the crimes and so on. And yes, this did all start because the cop was racist and shot their dad for no reason, but that doesnt mean you can just be let off easy for the myriad of other incidents. It was poor decision making the whole way through due to them being so young. And that seems to be a main point in the story along with the other themes. It really does suck the Sean loses so much precious time though but i honestly thought it would be more.

@corn8591
@corn8591 3 года назад
I’m late af but parting ways is definitely the best ending. As many have stated in the comments, all of the endings are pretty sad but pw is the only ending where both brothers look genuinely happy with where they ended up. One of the best things about it is how it shows that both Daniel and Sean actually got to learn lessons from both of their parents. Esteban believed in the system and conforming to social norms (in his case it was to assimilate but still), while Karen believed in doing what works for you regardless of whether it was conventional or not, within reason ofc. Even though Sean tries to make every decision to protect Daniel, it was always his own idea to go to Puerto Lobos. Daniel was always hesitant, and you can see that expressed best when they are driving to the border wall and Daniel is worried about not fitting in there. Despite all of the racism and the multiple times they are told to return to their own country, this IS Daniel’s country. Unlike Sean, the US and it’s culture is the only one he knows. He can’t speak Spanish, I doubt he heavily identifies with Mexican culture, and he wouldn’t have felt any connection to Puerto Lobos if Sean had not told him it was their only option. You spend the entire game making decisions for Daniel, or coercing him to in other cases. You spend the game trying to build a foundation of morals for him to rely on to prepare him for life and his own decision making. And, if you did it right, the very first one he makes leads you both to happiness. Daniel chose what worked for him and let Sean do the same, just as their mom taught them to. The system and social norms is what Daniel wanted, so that’s what he chose. Sean was always more of a carefree kid, taking pause to stop and draw the scenery and doing whatever he felt like, so he needed the space and freedom to have that. While it sucks that they couldn’t find those things together it shouldn’t be sad. It’s like their parents- Daniel being like Esteban and Sean like Karen (in terms of beliefs about society, at least). The difference is that Karen cut herself off completely and that’s where she went wrong. They are apart but no pain exists between them because not only do they keep in touch, but they both have the space to live how they want. Relationships are always better when both sides are happy, which wouldn’t have been the case if one of them had to sacrifice their own personal desires to fulfill the other’s wishes out of love. Daniel truly loved Sean because he alleviated his burden by having his best interest in mind and letting him live out his dream on the beaches of Puerto Lobos. Definitely the best ending.

So much yes. To add, I felt like when they lived in the commune in the woods, it was showing how much Sean vibed with that kind of life even though he’d never even thought of it before. Even from the beginning, you could easily assume he’d want a future career as an artist, but when ever the subject is brought up he doesn’t know where he wants his life to go. He never really wanted a life that followed a track, he wanted to be free to choose as he goes. Then we meet the mother and see where she lives, and again Sean seems awed by their way of living. It’s not exactly what he’d want in life, because there still stationed in one place, but he appreciated the “otherness” of their lifestyles. I hate that Parting Ways only showed us vague photos of Sean, but I felt like they alluded to him and Cassidy(depending on your romance choices) continuing to live a life on the road. Cassidy always said she couldn’t stay in one place, so if they’re together I don’t imagine them settling down at his fathers old house and shop. Maybe they start off there to earn some money before moving on, and then use it as a sort of base camp in between ventures. Which is also part of why I don’t think Blood Brothers is a good ending. Sean didn’t want to be a mechanic, he respected his dad for doing the job, but it wasn’t what he wanted for himself. He just pushed through it as the only way he knew to provide for Daniel.

Blood Brothers is by far, the best ending, but I still don't know why we can't have Finn/Cassidy + Blood Brothers... Sean doesn't deserve to go to jail, I mean, is there enough evidence to put him in jail for 15 years? I wish Dontnod will continue the Diaz Brothers' story; it'd be epic to play as Daniel now either in Puerto Lobos or in Beaver Creek (depending on our LiS2 Ending). If Sean is with us or not would also depend on our LiS2 ending; Sean can be with you in Puerto Lobos whilst Chris will join you in Beaver Creek.

He just wants to protect his brother. And that's all he ever did. He's an admireable person. After all he's been through he still managed to keep his humanity. And the reason I don't like the PW ending is that Daniel jumped out of the car. I get that he's a kid and he didn't love to go to puerto lobos but that was selfish. He knew what Sean did for him to protect him and trying to give him a childhood. Besides, Sean would always stay with Daniel even if he hates where that is. But what bothers me the most is that everybody seems so happy without Sean. Like everything was perfect without him or something and he's in Mexico probably alone for a longer time in the first 1 or 2 years without anybody he knows. And Daniel gets everything he wants. It's just not fair imo. I hope you understand what I mean

Yes I agree. Throughout the series, its clear they both wanted to be together no matter what. Sean did everything in his power to make sure of that. At every part of the story he was only worried about one thing "where is my brother? "Is my brother fine?" Apart from that, it's not just Daniel who wanted the peaceful life, Sean too admitted he wanted to go back to Seattle and be with his friends, live like a normal teenager so imo PW is not the best because apart from Sean, pretty much everyone else got what they wanted, whereas Sean lived and continued to live his life dedicated to someone else. He did everything for his brother and he wanted to go to Mexico only because of his father. He obviously knew that they'd be fine in a far off place that's totally off the grid in US, just like the place where his mon lived. In PW, he isn't living the life he wanted despite being the one who suffered the most from everything. He is not at peace, constantly surrounded by criminals whereas everyone is safe and at peace in their places.

Didn't he sent his pictures to Daniel in the US? Where in one pic, I swear I saw Cassidy with sean. Parting Ways was more "me" ending & you can clearly see that Daniel didn't really seemed to care/selfish when he was in haven point with that crazy women (forgot her name). If I were Sean at that time, I would just leave quietly without Daniel? Why? 'Cuz he seems happy without his bro + He was stil a kid so the thing he needed the most as a child, is someone to provide him financially (good food & clothes). Parting Ways did Sean justice that's why I liked it more than the others but still, my heart goes to Blood Brothers. That's probably the "better" ending for the two

@@kaaaaaaaaaaartik Then Redemption for your case tho, sounds more good then. Sean has to spend 15 years in jail but hey! They're still in the U.S! With his brother. They can go to back to Seattle now as Sean probably isn't a criminal now (he served the punishment he was given). The only thing I didn't liked in it was the injustice given to Sean. In that aspect then, Blood Brothers is for the win! US probably didn't did them good anyways so Mexico was their calling

Also, parting ways with Finn by Sean's side is just *chef's kiss* Sure. The choices you have to make to be able to romance Finn are questionable to say the least. I really hated that about the game. Finn and Sean have so much chemistry and when you read what Sean writes about Finn you can get a sense of how big his crush is. He obviously admires him at the VERY least. But you have to make a big choice and go against your morals and join a heist where you go up against armed guys, whereas the straight relationship is wide open, without any sacrifices or restrictions. I mean sure, you could try to say that you only joined the heist to provide for money and your goal to survive all of that but still. Getting a 9 year old kid involved? Fuck. However, Sean ending up with Cassidy doesn't seem realistic. She implied multiple times that she's not the type to settle down. It seemed like Sean was just a convenient one night stand. Sure, she might care about him but I can't imagine her staying with him. They would probably just stay friends and visit each other from time to time. Finn on the other hand seems to be longing for a home. He spent all this time after prison trying to find a new family and makes a real effort to defend his new family. With Sean he could finally have it all. Even his dream about costa rica. Just in puerto lobos I guess. They both deserve a happy ending. They have both been through a lot.

I’m so glad someone said it. When I played the scene where you choose who you can go with romantically and what happens after, I was so frustrated how the only way you could be with Finn was by only getting involved with a bad choice, and Cassidy, no bad choices. I thought it was super unfair and made me very bitter. I couldn’t continue to play for a whole month because of how mad I was by that.

@@CRYPTKREEPER I get that. I was so shocked that the only way to romance Finn was by agreeing to the heist. I don't know why they thought that would be a good idea. Also the scenes with Cassidy are much longer than the ones with finn. Finn gets a kiss. With Cassidy you get a romantic lake scene + a sex scene. Just why did they had to make that distinction? 😅 I love the game. I love the characters. But that's just the one thing that left a bitter aftertaste. After all it still feels like they preferred the straight relationship and wanted to push the players to it.

Yeah I hate that Finn is blocked off by immoral choices. I really like both of them. My interpretation of the ending with Cassidy is that they didn’t settle down, they continued living their lives always in the move. Just because they’re together doesn’t mean they’re in a monogamous relationship. They may have moved passed that and stayed really close friends, that occasionally have “benefits”, or have an open/polyamorous relationship. In my head, Sean makes it to his father’s old home and mechanic shop. Spends some time getting to know his dad’s life there and maybe fixing the house up and offering some small car repairs to make a little money. Then Cassidy and crew(or just Cass and they meet other people to join their “family”) meet him there and they start a new journey once they raised enough starting cash from the shop. Maybe they always keep moving and never go back to his dad’s home, or maybe they use it as a sort of home base in between ventures when they can’t make enough money on the road. Finn wanted to live in a beach house drinking piña coladas though, so if they end up together I imagine them living at his fathers house for some time. Maybe they stay there or save up for a nicer beach house, and occasionally go out on random adventures knowing their beach home is always waiting for them. In that scenario I still imagine them having an open or polyamorous relationship, because that’s how Finn was already living when they met.

While unpopular, I got the Redemption ending and felt it was really fitting for how I chose to play the game. I did everything I could to give Daniel the best life and in the end, Sean had to sacrifice his own so that Daniel could have a second chance. They were doomed the moment the neighbour fell on that rock. As I progressed through the game, mexico never felt like a tangiable option and I even said to myself if it came down to surrendering or crossing, i'd do the former. Did i still cry buckets? Absolutely.

Daniel has a good life and they both follow the rules of society, not having to fear being caught etc. etc. I get it. To me it also made a lot of sense to turn yourself in. But damn. 15 years? Sean is also just a kid. A Kid that also had to grow up way too fast, become a father figure to his younger brother, throw away his entire life, goes to hell and back just to protect him and still ends up 15 years in prison? Fuck. Both of them are broken after all this time. Sean because his entire life has been fucking miserable, even though he was 100% innocent and Daniel because he literally caused all of this and has to live with that burden of robbing the life of his brother while he got away unscathed. Idk. I guess Parting ways and Blood brothers are the best ending. Glad I had parting ways as my first playthrough and Sean was able to find his peace in mexico. They aren't together anymore, sure. I got Redemption as my first ending and i thought that it was the best ending, those 15 years in prisons are really unfair to Sean, he doesn't deserve it at all, but in the other hand Daniel got a chance to live his childhood without cops looking at him, Sean had a terrible life in the past 16 years and i hate this, i feel so bad for him, but i also kinda feel like that he still can live his life without worrying about criminals in Mexico and cops chasing him. It's a really sad ending i know that and i feel terrible for Sean, but by looking at the other endings it's seems like this is the one with more hope for the future in it. In PW it seems like both brothers got what they wanted, but Daniel seems like in a sort of cage, idk if the cops understood that Daniel has superpowers but they know that he can be dangerous and they are always taking an eye on him so he isn't fully free, Sean in the other hand is in Mexico with Cassidy and it seems like an happy ending, but I'm not sure about it either, I mean he can't go anywhere without fake passports because he's still a searched criminal in other states and he maybe still have to live with anxiety cause of the criminals there are in Mexico and other stuff.

I’ve seen so many people talk down on Parting Ways because “they’ll never see each other again”…..but nothing is stopping Daniel from visiting Sean, or stopping both of them from meeting in another country. Hell, they could even both get boats and meet in international waters 😂 It did look like Daniel got in enough trouble to be on some sort of house arrest in that ending, but house arrest wouldn’t last his whole life. We also live in an age where video calling is a thing, and so many other ways to stay in close connection even if someone lives across the globe. They obviously stay in contact since Daniel is wearing the bracelet Sean was wearing when he drove off to Mexico and sent him the letter with picture and sand. I was disappointed that Lyla doesn’t get any mention in that ending though. We promised to contact her once we were out of the states, and I’m sure she would have tried to visit Daniel at some point. Or Daniel’s grandparents would take him on trips to his hometown to see his old friends.

I also think it's incredibly difficult to choose between Blood Brothers and Parting Ways. The Wolf Brothers are the most important thing for me in the game. 1) Parting Ways: It breaks my heart, when Daniel jumps out of the car and leaves his brother behind. Yes, he gets a normal life, and I am so incredibly happy that he gets to be with Chris, Karen, and the grandparents. But he NEEDS Sean, as well as Sean needs Daniel. This is said so often during the game, Brody for example. They both seem happy, but at what cost? The journey they both went through, their bond is just incredible, it hurts so much too see them seperated. It doesn't really reflect my values, because I'd definitely prefer brotherhood over respecting the rules of society, at least for Sean and Daniel, their situation is unique, society DESPISES the two, Hank for example, so why care about the society first? And Daniels situation could always worsen, as we saw, he moved out, maybe to a city, who knows if the media won't find him and terrorize him? He might also have difficulties in his social life, because he is one of the Diaz brothers. It might seem that this is the perfect ending, because they both live the lives they want to, but that's also why it's not perfect. Because they are seperated. I really hope that Daniel can visit Puerto Lobos or Sean visits Beaver Creek. 2) Blood Brothers: I like this ending so much, they are together and in Mexico, the goal of the whole amazing journey. They were destined for this place. If Daniel was happy in this ending, this would be my number 1. But Daniel doesn't seem to be very happy in Puerto Lobos, which just breaks my heart, and kindled a permanent battle between BB and PW. But the brothers have each other, which is the thing I value the most. And I am optimistic, sure, they have difficulties at first in Mexico, but Daniel can make friends there, and it seems to me, all sacrifices are worth it, in order to have the Wolf Brothers persist. Not Daniel's happiness though. But as I said, my mind constantly changes on this. 3) Redemption: As well as with PW, Daniel has a "normal" life, but again, at what cost? Sean sacrificing himself? Sean will probably slip right into depressions, if he hasn't already. Them visiting the place from ep. 1 is beautiful, reminiscent, cute and at the same time heartbraking, the memories make me so emotional. But Sean isn't the same person, from what I've heard, people who were imprisoned, are very stigmatized in the US. It's nice that he has Lyla back, but that's not really worth it I think, I simply don't have the bond to her, that might very well be since we only see her once. That they drive in different directions with their cars makes this SOO much worse. 4) Lone Wolf: One word: disastrous. At first, it's cute how Daniel also wants to take responsibility of them, he PROMISES that everything will be fine. But he broke that promise, even if not on purpose. He thinks that it's his fault that Sean died, and to be honest, sadly, it is indeed. He already blamed himself for Esteban's death, the burden he carries around will most probably supress any happiness in his life. Losing my older brother is the worst thing I could ever imageine happening in my life, actually kind of amazing, his mental health seems to be rather somewhat stable in Mexico. It hurts so much to write this. The only positive thing about this, is that Daniel now draws, which made me cry even more. Sean's last word was "stop", maybe this has a deeper meaning. The scene in ep. 1 made me feel so nostalgic, I also danced with my brother on the bed to music, even to this song. What an incredible coincidence. It hurt so much when he moved out, even though he is only 300 kilometers (186 miles) away, which is probably a small distance for US-standards. I found it very weird that if he has a low moral, Daniel says "F*ck Puerto Lobos" in ep. 3, but when surrendering at the border, he takes matters into his own hands and seemingly wants to go to Mexico. There definitely should be a middle way between low and high moral, I don't want Daniel to steal from Brody or kill Lisbeth in order to escape together with Sean to Mexico. Every ending made me cry oceans, but for PW and BB intermixed with crying for joy. Overall, this game is the best one I've ever played, I'm in my youth, 4, almost 5, years older than Daniel, but I feel the exact same bond between me and my older brother, it goes above everything, even above the one between me and my parents, though this might be because of the conflicts that everyone in puberty experiences with their parents. Now, I sometimes wish I was the big brother in my family. And I can also comprehend how nerve-wracking I sometimes must've been, it also makes me value my brother even more. I will play this game many more times. I will remember this game, which shaped me so much, until my demise.

It is absurd to me that the brothers will stop being in each other's lives altogether and that they'll never physically be together again. The main issue is that yes, they'll grow up and walk their own paths, but you want it to happen naturally and of their own accord, not because of injustice. That's why PW wins.

I'll forgive you for not knowing this about America, but an ex-convict is hardly a free man. Once you've been to prison, you lose your right to vote and you face housing discrimination so you can't even find a good place to live. Like you said, it's harder to find work, both because of employment discrimination and because you're behind on education. At least we can all agree that the ending where Sean goes to jail is a horrible ending. I don't know if it's worse than Lone Wolf, but screw the people who try to justify the Redemption ending as anything less than abysmal. The people who "love" the redemption ending are either heartless, stupid, or completely ignorant to the horrors of prison and of PTSD. Of how hard it is for ex-prisoners to make a life. I admit that if I'd never watched the channel "after prison show", I wouldn't know, either, but oh my God... from what he described, prison is *torture*. Parting Ways was my favorite. One thing no one talks about is that as much as they love each other, their brotherhood grows toxic because in protecting Daniel, Sean either has to resort to committing crimes for their survival, or he has to suppress Daniel so they're not caught--in addition to Daniel not wanting to go to Puerto Lobos at all. So in Parting Ways, they're allowed space to grow separately because Daniel takes full responsibility for his own actions. Unlike in Redemption where Sean's sacrifice causes him to grow up spoiled, or Blood Brothers where because they stay together, Sean continues resorting to criminal behavior because it's all they know. Or Lone Wolf, where Daniel learns his lessons too late.

My own list: 1) BB 2) PW ... 3) R 4) LW As promised, my minor points of disagreement (based on different interpretation): - Cassidy's/Finn's absence is most likely due to budget concerns rather than them cutting ties. Putting them into the scene would have cost money, whereas the rendered picture was likely trivial in cost. - I am absolutely hundred percent positive that Sean will make sure that Daniel will get an excellent education in BB and he has the money to make sure of it. - Children learn languages extremely fast, so Daniel will be fluent in less than a year. - Daniel has shown an amazing ability to adapt and will have no trouble making a home in Puerto Lobos. - Depending on choices made, Daniel and Sean actually do not need to have killed anyone before the border for the BB ending. I still see them as just as sweet as they were before ... unless you want to hurt them.

They don't have to kill anyone before the border, but they still have to kill like 3 dozen people at the border to cross it. That would completely alienate Claire, Steven, and Chris, and probably Lyla and Brody. The drifters might be okay with it, but it's far from certain. Karen's the only person who I think would completely understand. But seriously, I think this ending would result in cutting ties with so many of the friends that they made throughout the game which is why it's #2 for me.

I agree. Perhaps, ranking wise, BB was good. For me tho, PW sounded more logical to me. In both LW & BB, you can clearly see that Mexico didn't do Daniel any good while in the Redemption one, it didn't do Sean any good (Idk I've always felt like he just wasn't meant to be there in the U.S. Mexico probably does him better). Although yeah the cost for PW would be Daniel on house arrest but at least he's surrounded by good people. Who love him & there's also chris, his neighbor & friend. At least Daniel would also assure there that his bro is alive somewhere in Mexico. The chances I see in BB however is that both of them or potentially, Sean getting shot from someone random. I feel like the lone wolf is a sort of shock on daniel but not in the way we think sure he was taught to do stuff for his survival no matter the cost, and is emotionally troubled up until you see him alone at the beach. and that scene where he threatens to kill the gangsters that were sent after him, just to left them go is symbolic about how; although he will live his life a criminal, he still has some humanity in him, and in regards to "oh no my son will be in mexico dead". the player knows that his powers (and some humanity left in him) says that he'll find a way. This is an over glorification of trauma because people forget that we still learn and that time heals all wounds, and by the way he mourns sean and the way he dealt with the thugs that went after him. Its clear that (regardless if he spared the gangsters as an act of mercy or intimidation) he is doing alright. Maybe not to people who see a kid who was forced to run away. But as someone who was able to move past from the past events in his life were out of his control.

interesting analysis but have you considered that the points you applied to blood brothers sean most likely apply to parting ways sean? his design is the same, same tshirt, same eye, same beard and he is still in the same place. do you really think he lives a honest life there, free of crime? he doesnt even have daniels powers this time to protect him and help him. what does he do for work? hes on the run forever, without his family and without daniels powers. dontnod said in this ending hes going to have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life. i agree that daniel and sean sacrificing their relationship is the biggest sacrifice of them all. their father was murdered and they were able to share each others pain, no one else could understand. you can see the change in their attitude and their relationship after daniel finally learns that their father is dead. not to mention the highest point of love for each other theyve reached in ep4 after which daniel stuck to sean like glue in the car and in the canyon in ep5. i get your reasoning and while i agree daniel had doubts about puerto lobos, so did sean! remember how scared he was when he spoke about it with karen? please lets not act like mexico was seans dream place and the reason he pushed for it more than daniel was because daniel was just a kid and didnt exactly understand how badly they need to escape. sean worries that hes going to be separated from daniel from ep1 onwards. he worries about it more than going to prison! and in the end daniel said "i cant wait to go swimming in the ocean!", was quite happy with sean easing his worries about mexico in the car and happy "they will get to hang out too". your points fit with high morality daniel perfectly. although id also add that he jumped out of the car not only cause he wanted to stay in america but because sean taught him that societys rules come first and he felt the need to atone for everything hes done, especially what hes done at the border. low morality daniels priority was sean. he wanted to stay with him no matter what cause sean taught him to value family above everything else. low morality daniel didnt come back to america EVEN when his brother died. he was just a little kid and if that version of daniel truly valued safety and normal life as much as you say he couldve easily turned back but he hated what america did to them both and he stayed in mexico, where he ultimately wanted to be, in his fathers land, feeling closer to his mexican heritage. there are two versions of sean and daniel and thats what makes the game so great

I get what you mean, totally. There's an element of Daniel wanting to go to Mexico, for sure, but I've never really seen Mexico as Daniel's "thing". you know? Sean's the one who came up with the idea, and Daniel's appreciation and desire doesn't run as deep. In Parting Ways, he takes the initiative to change things for what he deems to be the best But thank you very much for watching!

The redemption ending is the one that is most on theme. Daniel is still the good kid that we knew. Sean gets the short end of the stick, but it was a price he had always been willing to pay if it meant Daniel was able to go free. Also, the Life is Strange series has always been about the idea that sometimes life isn't fair and there is nothing you can do about it except move forward.

Agreed. The 15 years was just the last of the “bullets” that Sean was willing to take for Daniel. I identify with that most, as the big brother in my own family of brothers.

I finished the game yesterday and constantly thinking about it. Seriously I have a big PLISD effect because I very much sympathize with Sean (gosh i love him) My list is very similar to yours 1.Parting Ways There is a possibility that both of them can be happy and will certainly meet again 2.Blood Brothers That's a sad ending because Daniel will be another person (more immoral / evil) 3.Redemption That could be a good ending if he'd been in jail for only a few years. Really 15 years is too much. And Lyla doesn't make it any easier 4.Lone Wolf That's just sad. Nothing more nothing less I would be very happy if there was something like a DLC sequel. I absolutely need it. They can't leave it that way

In Parting ways Im worried about Sean...In Mexico in the other endings we see three gangsters who come after Daniel and Sean. Daniel was the one who scared the gangsters off in both of those other endings. In Parting Ways, Daniel is not with Sean in Mexico and all we see from Sean about his life in Mexico is pictures. Will Sean be safe from the gangsters? Theres nothing that represents if Sean is safe or not

@@lianatgames That's what makes it too negative of an ending for me to be the top choice. Sean spends the whole game trying to keep Daniel's powers secret and protect him, but in this ending Daniel loses his freedom and Sean gets to not go to jail, but as the other endings in Mexico show us, he has to always be looking over his shoulder. Neither of them truly get a comfortable and happy ending, it's just the illusion of one. While Sean clearly did not have a good time in prison (obviously) he gave Daniel the good life he always wanted for him. Not to mention he's only 31 when he gets out, he still has opportunities to build a life and I always envisioned him thriving in places like Away or on the road as a travelling artist similar to Brody. Is it the life he deserved? No. But making it work alone in Mexico at 16 isn't the life he deserves either... no one gets what they really deserve in this game.

Loved the video as always! You always have great insights. Sorry for my comment being so long. It's more of an essay but I've had a LOT of time to think about this too. Haha, it's kinda nice to finally share it PW was my ending and it's the one that I would choose as canon. As a sibling, it does really sting that Sean and Daniel don't get to stay together because that's been the heart of the story. The wolf brothers were never meant to be separated from each other. That said, I'm also a Daniel and I think I see this as a more ideal ending because of it. I guess I can only speak for me but I think if you really love your older sibling and know how much they've done for you, you would want to return the favour and I think that's what Daniel did even though he knew that meant being apart from Sean. After all that Sean gave up, I can understand why Daniel would get Sean through the border and then jump out. It's giving Sean the life he wants without having to compromise on his own desires for a normal life. I don't necessarily believe that siblings being together no matter what is a good thing. It's always good to have a strong relationship but there's a line between that and codependency. As much as I love these two together, I did wonder if it was crossing into codependency at times and if they did need to be separated so they could be their own person again rather than just a brother if that makes sense. I also agree with your point about the Reynolds. I think episode 2 did foreshadow that Sean was more similar to his mother than he realised at the time when it comes his love for freedom. He wants to live his life in his own way. It's not been ideal but Sean did discover who he really was on the road and he has a real taste for wanderlust and as Esteban says in his dream, he was born to roam. Sean's a natural drifter. I don't think he could go back to a normal suburban life like Daniel could. It's clear that Sean finds it suffocating compared to pre-incident where I think he was more content with it because he didn't have the experience of other ways to live your life. Even if he did avoid prison after surrendering in HM endings, I don't see Sean being able to go back to an everyday life. Daniel likes the normality and he would find this quiet life with his grandparents, a best friend, video games and everyday comforts more appealing than Sean ever did. It's security and safety that Daniel wants and he isn't a drifter. He's a kid who wants to be a kid which is something he would get in Beaver Creek. Daniel never chose to run. That was Sean and Daniel just went along with that for as long as he could but he's realised he can make his own choices. When I streamed it, I did have a conversation with one of the viewers about how it was pointed out that Mexico is more ideal for Sean than anything. Sean's always been more in touch with that side of his heritage than Daniel so he could flourish there. For Daniel, it would probably feel more like exile in a country that he doesn't know and have a strong attachment to. I don't believe that the two will never see each again after PW. I'm not sure how it would work but I can't imagine that Daniel would have that tracker forever. I assume he would be free of it by his twenties and then he would be able to actually see Sean. Even if that wasn't the case, they're still in contact with each other. They may not be in the same country anymore but the connection isn't broken. For me, together from afar is better than together after 15 years of an unjust sentence and then being barely able to function as a result of it. I guess I like PW because both brothers get the life they wanted. They never forget their journey but they aren't as defined by it as I think the other endings tend to imply.

I really like the parting ways ending out of all of them. I cried seeing Daniel getting to grow up with his grandparents. Redemption I like knowing that although Sean didn't deserve his fate at all. He was able to be with his family and established support systems in Lyla and presumably Karen... Speaking of Karen, I overall loved her redemption in the story. My list: Blood Brothers- why tf not, it's the best!!! Parting Ways- even though they arent together, they still happy with their lives. Still sucks that they didnt make it through the journey together Redemption- Sean didnt deserve to get, what, HALF his life taken away, over some bullshit. But hey, daniel still gets a good life, and they aren't criminals, although sean is probably not used to the way society works Lone Wolf- you guessed it. The only thing(s) wrong with it is that sean died and daniel just loses everything and everyone. Kinda like the PW ending, but both brothers are actually alive, at least. And daniel has to live with the guilt That's ig. Sound off in the replies, I'd like to hear anyone elses list

I literally followed my heart and got the blood brothers ending and it was intense. Hey they could make a whole new game and even movie off how bad as the wild wolf brothers ending in Mexico was. Perhaps the one where daniel jumped out and went to live back with reynold grandparents while Sean made it to Mexico is possibly giving little daniel more of his childhood as life that he didn’t get to have or was taken from him. However for my story I was destined on, it was clear that both of the brothers should have stuck together as they both lost their one father they both loved. So in reality I think daniel while he may have grew up too fast I can relate to this as I did as well. It makes you tougher and stronger. I know daniel and Sean were wicked gangster badass at the blood brothers ending. The prison ending was pathetic and sad. Really no matter whar it seems there is never a happy ending unless you are a living soul and do follow your heart. I honestly followed my heart in the game and I ended up making it to Mexico and felt like daniel got to mature into a real beyond god king rather than being babied his entire life with the cheeky living that he was always used to. Is he happier away from the crazy wild adventures that his black sun brother always attracted in. Daniel is obviously the sun Christ god in this series and Sean is the black sun. His name even equals 12 and he loses his left eye just like ODDIN. This is why Sean has the bull horn on his right sleeve of his jacket. These are all signs pointing to them being the two most powerful living souls in their matrix. Why would they choose to live any life more badass than being blood brothers. Sorry I know america sucks and shitty rules it’s getting worse. This is why the wolf brothers had to leave. They didn’t fit in and it was one mad crazy dramatic turn of event after another. They depicted this well and no Mexico or Central America rather is much more free of a country or more laid back. Is there more bad things that could happen? Absolutely but that’s the reality of life and you learn how to be beyond god king black sun warrior of your existence. Being babied by the physical conscious matrix archons wil only make you weaker and never develop to god hood story you were meant to inherit. The kingdome of heaven bliss is within. So I am glad I got that on my first run. I tried the others and watched all the alternative endings and was glad I got the most real and badasss. Again I could see them continuing to make another game or even movie THats how wicked the blood brothers version was. The one where daniel loses Sean and colors his hair blond is even more badass acfuallt because I know daniel ends up losing his brother and harnessing his full powers because basically he was carrying the chip on his shoulder for losing his dad and brother and everything. He heisted 1.4 million from a bank and you COMPLETEY ignored that point dude. While it’s also a somewhat sad ending all life has Hyperborean ending afterlife. So this matrix is a dumping ground which would only make these two so much stronger than even their father and mother and that is the true intent of this reality. Your experience gets sucked back into the Black hole sun for energy extraction You always leave and evolve to become even more strong than you were before. Let it go. I don’t think it matters any which way. But what I love and think why this game next to final fantasy 7 (made by the same company ) is literally one of the best games ever, is due to the fact that it perfected showing us different destined paths with variations of consequences or repercussions that go along with each and every action you make in life. How some people remain in your life or you lose people based on your actions and not always just your words. That’s why this was intense and now I am playing before the storm next and life is strange 1. How amazing was all this. I truly hope they maybe fridge all the bridge stories together into a 3rd series. That would be intense to maybe have Max and Chloe and Sean and daniel or however you’re story ended. See because even if you just had daniel etc , they left us hanging for even more to come. So until the story ends does it ever end and then when you ascend it truly never ends and I know this. Check out “ascension to where hyperborea video plott palm trees “ To see what I mean by 5th dimension 5d heaven bliss which is where we all go. You can even recreate these characters and put them into your matrix. That is the whole purpose of this life afterall. To remember your experience and re create it into this mount meru Agatha place.

What has he done to survive there in the first years? How is his life there? So many questions while we know that Daniel had a pretty good life with his grandparents Also, I missed a reunion in that ending. Maybe the camping part could’ve been used but played out differently like, they got to see each other again but 15 years later (when they decided it was safe for them to meet) and it could play like a happy reunion idk I found this ending the best too, but kinda empty Sorry if there are any grammatical mistakes :P

After watching, I found your video. I am an empathic person, so I became very attached to brothers and each of the endings was a blow to me. But your thoughts, your analysis helped me to see the truth: it is better to have a happy relative far away than an unhappy relative near. It helped me a lot that you paid attention to the seemingly obvious - brothers want different lives. That is why this ending, which I have come to and worked on, is the most beautiful possible for the brothers. I'm just after ending all 5 episodes...I got the ending "Blood brothers". I was kinda disappointed and right after choosing the option of crossing the border killing all the people on the place I started regretting that I didn't pick "surrender" ending. But as it turned out- good that I didn't pick that, cause at the end of the game I received the information that I didn't teach Daniel to respect society and other people, but him and his brother only. So, eventually if I would have choose "surrender" Daniel wouldn't have agreed with Sean to give up, eventually leading to the Sean's death and Daniel's being alone. the saddest ending. But it's such a nonsene. Throughout the entire game I WAS SURE that I had been making the right decisons, I followed my guts and heart. I didn't get in touch with Lyla to protect her and brothers. Ending- no Lyla. I never let Sean to tell Daniel to kill other people, and yeah, I asked him many times to use his power, but I was sure it was the right thing to do. I had been choosing like 99% only supportive and nice dialogue options. Ending- game telling me that "I didn't teach Sean to respect society and environment" and that he ended up with "low morals". If I'll have time I would like to repeat the game in order to end up with Daniel's having "high morals". But I don't know how to do that, cause as I said- I don't know what I did wrong, cause I was sure that I really taught Daniel to respect others' lives. I mean, I never even let him to kill anybody, besides their chefs at the farm who wanted to kill them, but it was the protection. So, according to me... "Blood brothers" isn't the best option. Yeah, they are together, but what kind of life is it? No contact with grandfathers, no Lyla, no Cassidy or Finn. Nobody, only them, they lost everybody. We don't even know how their mother ended up at this ending. Daniel probably didn't even go to school, but was helping Sean in work in car repairs and some criminal stuff. I don't know, at the end they sit on the beach together and drinking the bear together and in the background the sun goes down. It's very, Idk, poetic? But still very sad. They aren't really happy. After some analysis, I agree with you that "Partying ways" is the best ending to get. If earlier in the game you beginned relationship with Cassie/Finn, then Sean at Mexico is with one of them, not alone and happy. Not fully happy, cause without brother, but still he has his girlfriend or boyfriend next to him. And probably not in such dangerous affairs with gangs and criminals, at least I hope so. Meanwhile, Daniel leads his life with grandparents, living his teenage life to the fullest, and staying in touch with his brother by the letters and his mother. So, they were separated, but at their hearts- they were still the wolf brothers. I love "Redemption" ending, because of the fact that we get to see Karen and possibly Lyla, when other ending don't make it possible. They all are waiting in 2032 for Sean under the arrest, it's so lovely. But it doesn't change the fact that he spent 15 years of his life in the prison, and didn't even deserve it. From 17 to 32. It's so sad, cause when he got out of the jail he was still young, cause yeah, being in early 30's you are still young. But 17-32 is such AN IMPORTANT TIME IN ALL OF OUR LIVES. PERPHAPS EVEN THE TIME MOST DEFINING US AND THE REST OF OUR LIVES. And Shean- just lost it. Heart-breaking, you said it very well bro. They went with Daniel after all of this campying, but after all, they all ride separate ways with separate cars. Daniel got a degree, sociable life, settled out life. Sean after 15 years in prison has none of it, and he somehow will have to find the way to start his life from scratch. And Daniel won't be by him all the time, cause...he has his own life, which he managed to create. But I think that Sean will have the support of his mother, grandparents and Lyla, so he will have a chance to end very well. That's why it is better for me than "Blood Brothers". Cause in BB they don't really have many alternatives. They can't go back to USA. They are all alone in Mexico, and can't even contact their mother, friends, grandparents. They are all gone for them (in Blood Brothers). And they really don't have many alternatives to get out of their criminal life. So they'll never be fully happy, unfortunetely. They are together, but unhappy. At least it seems to me that way. "Redemption" ending opens for both of them possibilities and chance for a happy lives, "Blood Brothers"-not really. So my definite opinion is: 1. Partying Ways (with Sean being in relationship in Mexico with Cassie/Finn) QUITE GOOD ENDING 2. Redemption MEDIOCRE ENDING 3. Blood Brothers BAD ENDING 4. Lonely Wolf TRAGIC ENDING Thank you for your material and work you've put in this video. All comment is my personal opinion, and I don't want to anybody complain at my opinions and offending me, so if someone intends to do so, no! You just summarized my whole thoughts and I’m happy someone shared the same experience as me. I finished the game not so long ago and I just can’t just move on and I don’t know the reason. I’m still crying over whatever endings I see or OST I listen to, and I don’t want to play LiS True Color yet cause I feel like I’m not ready yet. Kinda strange isn’t it ?

I loved you thoughts and analyss of all the endings honestly you managed to make it sound like there was at least a happy side to them all. Now parting ways is also my favorite ending... thank you for your video, it felt nice after crying about it for hours.

Honestly even though Daniel wears a tracker in Parting Ways, I find it highly unbelievable he wouldn't find a way to use his power to shut if off for a while. I like to think that thanks to this he's able to reunite with Sean earlier :)

If anyone things Redemption is a good ending, they clearly don’t understand prison. Sean was young, thin and very attractive (I am an adult trying to be objective and think about society standards for the record). There is absolutely no way despite all his emotional strength and possibly even physical that he didn’t suffer abuses unimaginable in prison, and yes I mean THAT kind of abuse. He is also a young POC. He definitely spent a decade of his life sometimes wishing for death. The only thing that makes Lone Wolf worse is seeing Daniel alone without his other family…because prison, for many, is a fate worse than death and you can tell at the end that Sean no longer feels the closeness to his family that he once felt. Like, I seriously don’t think people think about prison and what it really is. My cousin went to prison a decent guy who did sex work (yes don’t be judgmental). He came out of prison unrecognizable. He came out of there with wounds to his lowers so severe that he can’t even do certain…things properly, something he feels was done specifically because he was a gay sex worker. The guards beat him. The food made him ill. He spoke up about his injuries but the other prisoners did one thing so bad he won’t speak to anyone about it. He couldn’t get a regular job because people are so prejudiced against him for so many reasons. He eventually killed himself from the nightmares. So, miss me with the “Redemption”. Sean deserves Mexico. No matter what, at the end, always choose Sean going to Mexico.

Am I the only one who genuinely enjoyed the redemption ending?, Yeah sean would be in prison for 15 years but I think him surrendering was the most impactful decision he can make. It emphasizes and shows his love for daniel and his desire to bring him a good life despite the circumstances and the consequence it will have on him, on sean. Tbh I did not see him just as an older brother to daniel but rather, a father figure. A father figure that was willing to sacrifice himself for daniel's future.

I have got PW first and I didn’t know how other 3 endings look like.I was so sad and i even blamed myself because they were not together. Then I decided to watch all endings. Btw I agree with you that R is most emotional ending.Anyways because I didn’t know other endings in my mind was only:You have not come this far for going to jail for something you didn’t do, Sean. And I thought that good choices will get me and Daniel together to Mexico. But after watching all endings i saw that this is only ending where they are both truly happy. So I like it after all.But it hurt me because for me their brotherhood was everything.

I gotta agree with you on the parting ways ending. Seeing the 2 brothers happy and growing up to be good people are truly satisfying

Loved the video! And I completely agree with your list, I did two separate playthroughs both high and low morality. I chose parting ways and blood brothers, and I don’t regret it 😂

Thank you for this video!! I just finished the game yesterday and this video made me feel so much better! I feel more optimistic about Parting Ways, which I got on my first play through. The main thing I just couldn’t accept was Sean and Daniel not being together!! I played through the whole game to fight for us to stay together... but when you say you’re optimistic about them seeing each other again, and that they each individually got what they wanted in the end, I concur that it’s the best ending. I would’ve placed Redemption 2nd and Blood Brothers 3rd, with Lone Wolf being the worst.

And even though I loved Parting Ways, my 2nd biggest issue with this ending is that the police (and government?) should now be fully aware of Daniel’s powers after putting it on full display at the border. I’m just going to assume Agent Flores did her best to keep Daniel safe, because the discovery of his powers didn’t seem to be advertised to the rest of the world after 6 years...

Daniel is not free at the parting ways, we see at 19:55 that Daniel has a digital tracer on his ankle. and parting way does not make sense at all, how his life is gonna be when all the police knows the superpower he has?

my list of endings: parting ways- this one was my favorite overall because daniel doesn’t want to hurt people anymore to get what he wants. this is because sean raised him to be like this. daniel makes a very serious decision to leave his brother (the thing he loves most) just so he can’t hurt people, this is a very mature decision considering daniels age. daniel gets to live his own life and experience a normal teenage life. while sean, gets to go to puerto lobos and live his life with either finn, cassidy or himself (depending on your romance decisions) the two brothers end up becoming very happy. redemption- this one is my second favorite ending because the two brother make a very mature decisions considering their teenagers. they love each other to death but you see in this ending that they have grown up and realized what they have done. sean ends up going to jail for 15 which, yes, that is half of his life. but, daniel ends up living his teenage life and also at the end where sean gets out of jail he sees, lyla, daniel, and his mom. blood brothers- this one is my third decision because personally i feel like they only cared for themselves. they killed and injured so many people just so they could get what they want. although, they did complete their goal of going to puerto lobos and i know their mom would be very proud. but they also stole lots of things to survive while in mexico, which if they were in america they would be sentenced to jail even more than before. and last but not least.... lone wolf- this ending was by far the worst ending ever. first of all, daniel ends up accepting just to reach his goal but he doesn’t realize he’s risking lives just to get what he wants. which is mostly influenced by the way sean raised him. second of all, SEAN FREAKEN DIES!! like this was so sad to see cause i was watching a youtuber (sarah baska) play the finally and she got this ending. it was so sad to see sean die especially when daniel lost his father. also, daniel ends up becoming a criminal in order to survive. thanks for listening! enjoy!

also, one thing that makes the lone wolf ending even worse, is that daniel probably thinks that it's his fault that sean died (which it sadly is in my opinion). he also blamed himself, i think it was in episode 2 for esteban's death, and i think that makes the ending twice as bad.

I think the sacrifices sean made to protect daniel would have to overrule daniels desire to live a happy go jolly life in the us, that would experiment on daniel or do tests on him for having super natural powers. Its a factor alot of people forget in their reasoning and i think its unreasonably unfair for sean in most endings. So them protecting eachother while maybe doing hard things to survive is in blood brother still the most powerful family ending. Sometimes morals and societal law isn’t enough to seperate family what is sometimes the only thing you got. ❤️

I honestly needed this video, I only played chapter 1 of this game since I can't pay for the other chapters but wished both Daniel and Sean to be well and be happy together and stay safe and try making good choices and yet I was wrong but the last ending you were telling kind of made it better and made me happy since Daniel made a good choice and let Sean live in mexico, sure they aren't together but like this would be the best for them :)

New ending, Sean surrenders, daniel agrees, Sean goes to trial and is found innocent (if you made all the right decisions) because there is no evidence. The brothers both go and live with their grandparents and it’s all happy. I’ll just go with that.

I guess, the perfect ending would be Daniel's personal decision to break into Mexico (as it was in the ending of Lone Wolf, but without the author's arbitrariness with the murder of Sean). It seems very likely that after a while, Sean would have sent his brother back to his grandparents. Since Sean's entire story was based on winning the maximum trust and love of his brother, Daniel would trust him in this decision. By law, Daniel is not responsible for his actions, and the tracker on his leg is a small deal with the government. Of the four endings suggested by the authors, the Blood Brothers seems to me to be the most honest about Sean. Yes, they have changed, but this is also a part of our life - growing up and accepting cruel reality. In the final video Blood Bothers, Daniel is 16 years old - in any case, the age of growing up, he should not look like a carefree child.

... Uh 19:54 isn't that a tracker on his leg? He's under house arrest it looks like. I don't see that as a good ending.
