You know at least with the other LiS games, their badness is at least memorable and fun to laugh at. True Colors is like mixing tofu with raw vanilla extract and cardboard.

The main character is the only person in the LIS universe that has common sense and can read a room. That's the best way I can describe gameplay.

I forgot this game existed until now. But the moment I saw the main character I remembered the meme when this game came out of "French game devs thinks empathy is a superpower". Glad to hear it's almost as bland and generic as other LiS games. Also the main character makes me uncomfortable because I'm also a heavyset Asian girl with black short hair and glasses. It feels creepy.

I think it's hilarious how a very meh game like Minecraft Story Mode took "your choices matter and influence the ending" much more to heart than a game series this popular

The funny thing is, True Colors had a shitload of cut content, and a lot of stuff seemed pretty dark as well. I don't know the exact source but apparently these were mentioned in developer streams, things such as Gabe being an abusive husband towards Charlotte, and Charlotte being Jed's adopted daughter (which is why he gives her free food at the first episode), and even this very odd element where if you took Pike's fear, Diane would tell Pike to kill Alex down in the mines. I'm pretty sure Jed was never going to be the traitor and Diane was always set to be the bigger villain, because it makes way more sense for Alex to go onto the mines for herself and then Diane naturally trying to stop her in some other way. It sounds goofy but a horror/stealth/chase segment down in the mines would have been a pretty impactful scene. I guess they cut the abusive Gabe stuff because, well, we needed to care about him. Evidently Charlotte wouldn't tell Jed or anyone else about the abuse which is why nobody says anything of the like or why there are no suspicions or hints from other characters. Ah, and also it seems like Mac was going to kill Gabe completely on purpose but it was retconned into the call not going through and Typhon not doing anything, they probably did this because it would be pretty obvious in the first place.

This entry in particular I feel would have benefitted the most from adding emphasis on the powers. With the story on its own being bare-bones and linear, letting you use the powers whenever you want would be a fun way to poke holes in the narrative and try to shape the story to your liking.

Never played life is strange but from an outside perspective the idea of going from time manipulation and telekinesis to "muh emotions" as far as powers go seemed like the biggest downgrade

I know these games by Don't Nod can be genuinely bad but I think Tell Me Why is actually a very good, heart wrenching story about 2 kids who had to grow up apart after they murdered their own mother for reasons I can't explain without spoilers. The reason you got it free during pride month is bc it's a game with a trans protagonist talking about trans issues, whether you're for that or not is of no concern to me, I think it's a genuinely good game.

Speaking of having a male romantic interest, some people pointed out that the LIS series heavily favors female love interests. Haven't really played anything after the first two games since I'm waiting for a price drop for the other two. Played some of LIS2 for free but it kept crashing. Anyways, I noticed that with the first two for sure. Chloe is forced on you Telltale Game style even if you pick anything to avoid it. The devs say you can look at their relationship as a friend or eventual lover, but the game clearly wants them together. Her journal even leans that way plenty of times. Warren is looked at as a friend and sometimes a brother by Max plenty of times even if you try to get Max interested in him. You can kiss him, but it's a pity kiss and means nothing since he either dies or you reset the timeline. Max is possibly dating him in one timeline in the comics but that's it. BTS has Elliott that likes Chloe, but the game is decent enough to not pretend that he's a genuine choice like they did with Warren. Chloe has a crush on Rachel, but the game doesn't 100% force you to romance her. Even if it did, the first game established Chloe had feelings for Rachel. Apparently the male romance options in LIS 2 and LIS: True Colors have weak interactions in comparison to the female options.

I think I tried to play Tell Me Why, but I gave up after the chapter when the trans guy told off the lumberjack who accidentally misgendered him or something, idk, I gave up on it after like an hour or less.

True Colours took all the complains from ‘those fans’ about lis2 and overcorrected waaaay too much. Pretty much just copying the first game with nothing new or exciting. Also, am I the only person upset that the whole paranormal aspect is never going to be explored? The Life is Strange series has a novel coming out but it’s about Steph so no paranormal plot. Why even have the paranormal aspect?

I still think it’s insane they charge 60 dollars for a 10 hour game.

Funny thing about LIS true colors, in the bar you can play on an arcade machine that has DXball or whatever the hell it's called (move the platform so the ball doesnt fall?), anyways, this is one of those games where the arcade game inside of the game is better than the actual game

That's the thing about this game. Is not bad, but not good, is in the middle of boring. And is a pick your poison, you prefer a middle boring game or a bad funny game.

I’ve never played life is strange, or any of its sequels/prequels whatever the fuck, and I think that’s because the overall art style of these games just scream “bland”, “uninteresting”, and overall “boring”. Even just by watching these videos I can tell I really did miss out on anything. IMO people who love these games probably don’t season their food.

I just realized one hilarious thing about the "empathy powers". So there's this game about physics based combat, Exanima. In 2020, a year or so before LiS:TC released, they've added the first school of magic into their game. Mind powers, so you could detect minds of enemies, their emotional state and alter/affect it, which can be quite helpful, effective and fun. It can greatly change combat outcomes and keeps you alerted on enemy presence. I think it's incredibly funny how a game about medieval fighting implemented emotional powers better than a game about, well, emotional powers

To be honest, I think Dontnod’s new game Banishers Ghosts of New Eden actually looks pretty good.

There are way better empaths in other media. Charles Xavier is an empath, kinda goes with the mind reading. And Mantis did some cool funny stuff with it in GotG3. And technically all the Lantern Corps in DC are powered by and can give people the emotion they represent.

The only games i like from this genre is the ones made by telltale, those guys do know how to make story driven by your choices games, even if it's not perfect at least the story and presentation is pretty good and aside from them some Japanese's visual novels too, but life is strange games just feel disappointing, feels like some of those bad Netflix movies with low ratings and views that somehow for no reason gets sequels.

I love LIS2, one of my fav games ever tbh and like LIS as a whole dispute the issues, and I can say in all honesty, this vid is fax and completely valid bro.

LiS 1 had an interesting plot but infuriating characters. LiS 2 was engaging in terms of story but felt stupid more often than not LiS True Colors wa- IS more boring than a wall of paint drying in front of me. It's plot is damn near cringe worthy and it's finale felt rushed. Out of them all, I guess LiS 2 is the best one. I'd rather have a game that’s dumb, yet engaging than a game that bores or downright angers me.

The only think I like about all Life Is Strange Games are the Concept rather than the story
