I didn't learn to think till i was 30 and didn't get good at it till 35. Now as I approach 75 I am starting to get the hang of it. Also money is a great thing but the only true currency is time. How you invest and spend that, determines if you have a rich life.

You reminded me of me when I was in my 30s. I literally thought my life was over. LOL. I am 67 now. I love being over 60 because I don't have that impulsivity anymore. As I became older, I appreciated my life journey, all its ups and downs. My life decisions and choices are no one's business but mine, and I don't care what people think or think I should have done. You are an accomplished young woman. Do whatever you need to do for yourself.

Many people don't even have the chance to choose what to do next in life, they are either too scared of it or are totally clueless about it (or maybe they just can't as much as they'd love to) Having so many alternatives to move forward in life like you have might be overwhelming, but it's also a blessing to be able to choose. You'll do great no matter what ❤

wow, i did not expect you to get this raw and real, it's so different and refreshing to hear a finance creator talk about their failures with such honesty and heart, and most of all, share how unsure you are of your path ahead. it really feels like you're one of us. Good luck in LA!

You said, I'm 35, I'm young, I can't beleive im thinking about kids she family, and I laughed out loud. This is the time to think about that. I'm 42 and I feel like I was 35 yesterday! Your mid to late 30s goes faster than you think it will. Live your life. Its ok to change your mind. We are living so much longer with so many more opportunities and ways to live life than any other time before. You gotta just make a decision and live it out! Life is risky....beautiful, heartbreaking, challenging, and full of joy and surprises. You've learned SO much by the time your 35. That's amazing! You're going to being so much wisdom to this next phase of your life! I know you can write your book. You have so much knowledge from your life experiences. Good luck, but I don't think you really need it. You got this! ❤

The biggest problem with having a tribe is that everyone in the group eventually gets pulled away - by their career, spouse, kids, relatives, desire for adventure/travel, etc., etc. I was in the military for 20 years and was always moving around - or my friends were always moving around. When I got out and started a second career at age 38, my new friends were 100 percent focused on launching businesses, starting families, raising kids, etc. Now I'm in my 50s and still a "lone wolf."

OK, no one asked, but please consider your fertility if you think you'll want kids. I had my first at 35 and was totally overwhelmed with parenthood, then had my second at 39. Big gap. I wanted a third, but marriage problems prevented that. My point is, time slips by very quickly. Plenty of people I knew when having kids, same age as me, were having serious fertility problems. Yes, there are options like IVF, but it all can take a lot of time. Not to say you'll face any of this, but I think it's important to factor age into a "maybe kids" scenario. Best of luck with it all! And the quote is: "Life is what happens when you're making *other* plans." I think it was John Lennon who said that...

I'm in my sixties and have never lost that desire to move around and have adventures. Never wanted a family or fixed friends, both of which I find terrifying because of the loss of freedom that goes with them. Just shows we're all different, the important thing is to follow your gut and do what's right for you. Not what other people think is right for you.

I've been watching your videos for years!. You are a source of inspiration and a vault of personal finance knowledge. It's obvious that you are at a cross roads on how you want to spend your future. There are things you want to leave behind and things you want to take with you in the next chapter of your life. It sounds like you are ready to not only turn the page on your nomadic days, but to actually write a new book (literally and metaphorically) on the next phase of your life. I became F.I. in my 50s. I recall specific cross roads where I had to make difficult decisions. Looking back I'm so glad that I took the difficult, riskier roads rather than to stay in my comfort zone. I know you'll make the right decisions because having listened to you all this time, you have the tendency to step up and face the challenges that take you to the next level 🐯🐎

Rose, I’m 61 and finally financially free. In California no less. However I chose to work a little because it gives me purpose and connectivity to the world around me. You are so young and having to ‘work again like normal people’ will ground you. You can reach your 5 mil by 60 and still have a rich life for 30 more years. Enjoy friends, new family, and fingers crossed this new guy works out. You deserve someone solid! Remember: it’s the journey, not the destination.

Rose I relate so much to this! Before meeting my partner I was focused on being more 'digital nomad' and keeping spending as low as possible, but then craved roots and connection and community. First of all, you are so brave to share this with the public, your genuine personality and upmost kindness are very appealing throughout the video. AI summary can not compete with that! Secondly, welcome to LA! I think it is a great move for either yourself or your relationship. LA has so much to offer and I’m sure you will have a great life here. I can recommend some great restaurants and spots to visit! Lastly, 35 is old if you don’t have a family or any kids. It is more important to feel comfortable with the age, and make the best choices along the way. And I think you are doing a great job ❤

I hope this dude works out. It’s one thing to make decisions based on finance and an entirely different thing to make decisions based on a dude. It’s clear that you’re at a place where having a very serious relationship and eventually having kids is the main thing you want right now and if he doesn’t have the same wants or he’s not clear on what he wants, he won’t work. Dating someone below your pay grade is about as risky as making a decision to live abroad buying and not renting when there’s so many risks involved of getting taken advantage of by the partner. And if you are building your “tribe” with people through him and not individuals you’ve built organically and separately, those people you met through him will always be more on his side and have his back and keep his secrets. Put yourself first and your money second and always observe the behavior of those around you and how they intend to treat both you and your money.

But yeah, it's the anxiety. It's like all of the sudden all I can think of is the long term, my mom, whether I should have kids... It's so stressful at times 😱 So thank you! I found you about 2 weeks ago and I literally bing watched most of your channels in one week. You are very knowledgeable and resourceful. You have a vault of great resources that could be turned into a mini-series books for different sectors or all in one. Congrats for being able to relocate to Cali. I think for people who have the means to deal with the cost of leaving, Cali has everything to offer. I lived in LA and San Diego for 4 years. I dont know how safe it is these days but Mexico is only a drive away from San Diego for weekend getaways. For people who are well off, Cali is one of a few places where you could find climate of your choice. Snow at Big Bear and gorgeous beaches all over Cali for Spring and Summer time .

I’m wishing you all the best in your upcoming endeavors! I’m 38 and have been going through all of these “life changes” you mentioned over the past 5 years ish myself. I’ll share a super quick version of my experience for what it’s worth. When I was 20 I moved from FL to LA. I thought LA was literally the greatest place on the planet and was never leaving. It was literally magical. The people. The surroundings. The climate/weather. Things to do. Beach. Hiking. Snow. Literally everything…. And then California decided to drive itself off of a cliff. And now, once you live there … everyday… even in West Hollywood, there will be constant crime, rampant (and I mean rampant) drug use and users everywhere. You will step over them walking to get groceries, walking your dog, doing anything. Human feces, trash, tents - everywhere. All the time. And does anyone care? No. Does anyone want to fix the problem? No. You will pay the most outrageous cost of living- with taxes on literally EVERYTHING!! If you’re in LA City just add 10.25% tax to every purchase! (Wait till you register you car - will be around or more than 1000$ with all of their fees and taxes for out of state vehicles). They want to take 48% of capital gains now. Wait till you see what your business is taxed in Cali. - point is, I thought I would spend the rest of my life in California, and by no fault of ny own- bc this overly administrative state that is so overloaded a with greedy, unintelligent government - I can absolutely see no future in LA. Also not to mention raising a family? Good luck- USLAD lowest rated school system in the country. Now with all of the additional immigrants that have come to the area schools are even more burdened and they’ve just cut school funding. Not to mention the state itself is suffering from a $16B deficit and the ONLY thing they know how to do is take more money from you! Not ever manage a damn thing better themselves. Anyway I could go on, but you seeem like a very intelligent, sweet woman and I don’t think you will be able to stand watching the destruction and mismanagement of the once beautiful LA.

save yall 30 minutes. Ai summary According to the video, it is a life update by RU-vidr Rose Han. In the video, Rose shares three major life updates: she is moving from Mexico City to LA, she is writing a book about personal finance, and she is struggling with imposter syndrome. Rose decided to move to LA because her boyfriend lives there and she wants to be in a place where she can root down for the long term. She previously thought Mexico City would be her long-term home, but her plans changed when she met her boyfriend. Rose says that writing a book is the hardest thing she has ever done because of imposter syndrome. She feels like she is qualified to write the book because it will help people but still doubts herself.

Personally, I lived in LA for 13 years with my husband and child, and I really disliked many aspects of our life there... relationships feeling transactional, the stressful traffic... Fortunately, my husband and I are great partners, and going through life there together made it bearable. We are still recovering from our experience and regrets from living there, but living there was just something we had to do. It's life, we grew from the experience, and we're on the next adventure! As someone who is ten years older than you with two 4-year-olds who has lived in: Seattle (6 years), Chicago (4 years), Florida (teen years), NYC (15 years).. go to France. LA as a choice to raise your kids is wild. Expensive, stressfull (still), dry, bad schools, high taxes.. I have friends with kids there, but they work reality TV and media so it's where their jobs are. Raising their kids away from family has been so stressful for them. I would go to Europe in a heartbeat. I still might do it, but we are about five years away from that lifestyle because I don't want to uproot the kids until their next developmental break. You're so smart, I've been following you for a while, living vicariously a bit. Save your money! Travel with your kids! You have been handed a gift! You're so relatable Rose. ❤ I'm 35 also, with 2 yr old twins. Definitely consider family and community when deciding on where I want to live, but also I realized after having kids, education is the biggest factor by far. In NYC, it's expensive, right? Well, not if you have preschoolers. Free 3k and 4k (esp when you have 2) more than make up the cost difference compared to other places! And if your kid needs a specific type of education, the availability/accessibility of that also dictates where you go. And re imposter syndrome: I needed to hear that today. I think that is the main reason I am procrastinating on my online course ...

I started having kids at 22. Lived in California my whole life. I have 5 kids now. People put too much worry on affording kids then they miss their chance. I am a nurse and my husband is an HVAC technician. We didn't start off that way though. We just took life as it goes and everything falls into place. My family also moved every 2 years and I have continued this trend into adulthood and it is so rough trying to find somewhere to live that you enjoy and also isn’t too far from family! I did not want to move back to where I am from because it is very cloudy, rainy and there are a lot of people depressed and on drugs and it literally makes me depressed being around that environment. I am very health conscious and the area where I am from is very overweight unhealthy people so I do not fit in well since I have moved around to so many different states. Now I live 2 hours away in a big city and I enjoy it! Who knows if I will stay here forever if my parents need me in the future but there are great hospitals here so maybe they will move near me instead of me having to move back there which I really don’t want to do. 🙌🏼

The boyfriend seems like a nice guy but also seems way too chill to be the father. That he may be too uninvolved as a father and that a lot of parenting would fall onto Rose. I get that his relaxed lifestyle may be calming to Rose now. But when they are parents, that may irritate her. Hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe they are the balance that they both need. But personally, I think they would both be better off with people who are more like-minded.

@@bradleymaravalli2851 I get where you're coming from, and this seems to be The prevalent American view. However, remember he's French, and they have a very different lifestyle over there (and in Europe and the rest of the world for that matter). We're used to always being busy, always chasing something, etc, because that's what it takes to make it in America. The rest of the world has better work/life balance. And the kicker is they're doing a better job at raising kids than we are. Consider for example that him prioritizing having time over chasing $$$ gives him more time to spend with the kids. I don't think we can tell from these vids alone what kind of parent he'll be, but I'm confident Rose will pick up on those as their relationship progresses towards that. Also, OP os correct, Rose, you do not have an much time as you think. Unless you know for sure this is it and y'all already in family planning mode, that process brings its own can of worms that could make or break the relationship, and God forbid this is not it, you will start feeling the time crunch. It seems things are moving in the right direction you, but I wouldn't get too comfortable and assume time is on your side...
@bradleymaravalli2851
@bradleymaravalli2851 3 месяца назад
@@verb0ze Are you suggesting that Rose's lifestyle and personality is "wrong" and that her boyfriend's lifestyle is "right"? I am merely looking at their approach to life as contradictory when it comes to instill values and principles into another person. Neither person is right or wrong. It's just that there will certainly be a butting of heads when it comes to raising another human being. Again, hopefully their dynamics do indeed work out.

A tree is grown from a seed. No one take orange tree seeds and plant them into the ground then two years later expects an apple tree to grow. That's absurd, you get what you plant. So it's nonsense to say "a good boyfriend doesn't make a good husband" because a boyfriend is that seed that will grow into a tree.

I ended up in school in NYC and ended up meeting my husband in NYC. So I got married and I still live in NYC it isnt the most convenient or affordable place but this is where my roots and relationships are now. Lol i never intended living here for so long or raising a family and having kids here! But here i am and you figure it out as you go. Thank you for sharing. Hi, I wanted to say that I share the same thoughts as you! I'm 29 years old and my husband and I used to live in Ventura County, and it was unbearable to live there, we couldn't live without thinking about how we were going to pay the next rent (one bedroom and 3000 dollars a month) literally living in California is very expensive! So we've been moving to Iowa, West Desmoines, for 6 months, and I can see some differences, but US is an extremely expensive country ! So we're thinking about moving to Japan! And yes, here I feel like … we can't count on family/groups , it's something so distant and so superficial... very different from Brazil, where I was born people are super friendly and warm. We people really need to find something we can rely on and where we can truly be happy! Changes are the best things!

I think you need different things at different times in your life and living your best life and traveling before having a kid is a great idea. I live in the least affordable county in the US per a recent study and I didn’t really put down the real roots until I had my son. I managed to buy a home before my son started kindergarten so we could have a stable home. It took 7 years, but I also just managed to travel abroad with him for the first time since he was born. I am 47 now and had my son at 40 on my own via donor. I highly recommend finding a good partner who shares your vision for family if it manifests in your life, but it isn’t the only way to do things. I am really enjoying and learning a lot from your channel. Thanks.

I lived in San Diego for most of my life and LA for four years. Its crazy to live in LA, if your not there to be part of certain scene.Unless its the film community, or real estate or owning a business, I wouldn't live there. San Diego has everything LA has, beaches, community and the best paying jobs and its way more family oriented than LA. LA is a place you get in and then get out,if you don't for some reason make it, in whatever field your in. Too much crime, traffic, homelessness and the beaches are dangerous in many ways. Never again. UTC/Lajolla area has everything you want and has a huge Asian community. Most of my friends in the Mira Mesa and UTC area where Korean and Filipino. Also this life change is mostly centered around your new romantic partner. Your plans always change once your in a relationship. I think one or two years in LA will change your mind and youll be back to missing Mexico city. Keep your place in Mexico city and live in LA for a year first.....

I totally understand what you're going through with the expat thing! I moved to Japan after college, thinking I'd want to live there forever. I was so stuck on this idea that I ended up staying 5 years, which was 4 years longer than I should have stayed. I was really unhappy and lonely, which led me to get married to someone I clicked with, even though I wasn't really ready to get married at the time (at least it was an amicable divorce). It was all because I was looking for that sense of community and "home" that you were talking about. It wasn't until the big earthquake and Fukushima disaster scared me back home to the U.S. that I realized how unhappy I had been there. It takes wisdom to know when your goals and plans have run their course. In hindsight, I would have had a lot more fun if I had moved to Japan knowing it was only a temporary experience! Now I have a home base near my family, but I travel as much as I can. Also, definitely don't move somewhere just for a guy, unless there are other reasons to be there! If you'd move there anyway, definitely go, but if not, don't do it on a permanent basis - move temporarily to see if your relationship strengthens or wanes first. Good luck!!

I'm late on watching your video, sorry. Rose, your life's journey is unique. You ask for comments, so here's mine. My dear, you been going from one extreme to another. And your move to LA is another. But, going to be with your love LA is the right decision. But why rent? Move in with your partner. If your relationship is not at that point yet, then you should NOT move to LA. Especially if you don't have an engagement ring. I don't know enough about you to advise you further. Selling the rent is a good decision. Your Mexico City place being an Airbnb is interesting. But it's another extreme decision. In which I agree with. After all, you don't know until you know. Rose, thank you for sharing. ❤

Then we realized we wanted to grow old with our "chosen family" (our friends we served with in the military years ago) and moved back to the area we considered a home base. So I make sure I make the money so I can live the rest of my life here. I have friends and family who moved to more affordable states but they come here to visit whenever they can and wish they could live here. Some mention they can't come back unless they make changes to their live style like you. Financial freedom is personal not a location.
