@jenx5870
@jenx5870 2 месяца назад
I think I responded to another one of your comments, but for others who might read this, I get my knowledge from being an RN for 28 yrs. I am state certified to teach classes on multiple core subjects, including state codes. It is a requirement for prisons to provide the exact same medical treatment as any other facility. He would receive very good medical treatment, because state agencies govern and assess the jail and prison healthcare system. An RN dispenses the medications and assesses them as needed. Contrary to what his attorney says, most people who have seizures are quite stable on their medications and require no changes to their meds, unless they are newly diagnosed. All of the people I take care of with seizure disorders (hundreds) take the same dose with only an occasional change over the years. They are seen by their neurologist every six months to annually, depending on their stability. They have regular labs done to check levels of their med. Most don't have seizures unless someone is late giving them their medications, or they are exposed to a trigger. Some wear a helmet for protection, just in case, because they are prone to them, due to the sensitivity of the timing of their meds, or if they get a UTI (which can set them off). This man states he drives his mother to appointments on a regular basis. Either he is lying about his seizures, or he is a danger behind the wheel. He should not be having daily seizures if he is on the correct meds, so he is either newly diagnosed and they are still working it out, or he is doing drugs. Illicit drugs can also trigger seizures if someone has a seizure disorder. Personally, I would like to see a physician's history and physical stating he has seizures, because he doesn't seem like the most honest person. For instance, when did he have the seizure prior to seeing the judge? The post ictal period leaves a person drowsy and confused for a period of time, and he looked fine during the hearing.
@madmommy
@madmommy 2 месяца назад

@KayPrescesky
@KayPrescesky 2 месяца назад
Most prison healthcare in the for-rofit prison system is done by an out-sourced company and is done as cheaply as possible. Therefore epilepsy meds are not routinely given in all cases. Many inmates have died and/or been accused of faking even with a diagnosis. So whether the state code says it or not, somebody's doing something illegal to get around that because those meds are expensive.@@jenx5870

I’m much prefer when Judge Boyd grills the defendant then when his own defence attorney leads his questioning

I'm no doctor here, but I'm willing to bet doing illicit drugs probably is at least a slight contributor as to why he's experiencing seizures/epilepsy issues...

I think the victims of all this are his children, assuming he really is giving support of about $700/month. Or any amount. That’s going to be a big hit.

He didn't just have some drugs on him, he had a damn mini store in his pockets! How he didn't get charged with dealing, I don't know. And it sounds like he will get better treatment in prison so that it can be more consistent. He hasn't learned shit before, but he will now!
