I've been a lifetime Garmin user and I've always wondered what it would be like using a proper "smartwatch" like an Apple Watch or a Wear OS smartwatch. I made the switch from my Garmin Venu 2 to the Ticwatch Pro 5 a few weeks ago and in this video I discuss my own experience, differences between the ecosystems and discuss which one I'd prefer to use going forward which may help you if you are thinking of moving from a sports-oriented ecosystem like Garmin, Polar or Suunto to something like Wear OS!

Thanks for the review! I went from am Apple Watch to a Garmin Venu 2 Plus and I only have to charge about every 14 or 15 days. I definitely wouldn't want to have to go back to charging much more frequently.

Love the Garmin watches for this 🙌🏼 I'm also testing out the all new Polar Grit X2 Pro at the moment which promises almost 14 days life, so another sports-focussed brand that I'll be introducing on this channel 😀

Garmin is far superior to wear OS. Although having a sim enabled watch is nice. Wear OS notifications are nice(being able to respond on the watch). I hate that Garmin still makes you use proprietary charging cables. Despite the drawbacks, I won't be going back to wear OS. For fitness tracking Garmin is second to none. I feel like review is spot on.

I've been a Wear OS user for a few years (I have used Ticwatch Pro 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and Pixel Watch 2). I recently tried a Venu 2 Plus which I really liked except for two things - the sleep tracking was pretty poor and I missed the extended smart features found on Wear OS devices. If you are really into fitness then a Garmin probably is best (except for sleep tracking and price!) but if you want smarts/fitness then I would suggest the Pixel Watch 2 as it has by far the beat fitness/sleep tracking of all the Wear OS watches - you'll just have to top up the battery charge everyday. That said, I really like the Ticwatch Pro 5 as a general smartwatch!

Hi thanks for watching. Yep I really liked the Ticwatch Pro 5 too and all the smarts (even fitness features were not that far off). So far in all my testing, none of the WearOS can beat Garmin on battery life. We'll wait and see how that changes when Garmin start add more and more smart features to their watches. Glad you enjoyed 🙌🏼

I have a samsung galaxy watch 6 44mm and à Garmin forerunner 965. Fot my taste, it’s Garmin all the way. But your vidéo is verry cool.

Hi thanks for watching! I agree. I'm testing out the Forerunner 165 right now for my next video and at $250 I am very impressed so far with all the additional running metics from it, on top of the stuff that Venu 2 and 3 can do😀

Thanks! Yep, on-watch keyboard on Venu 3 is great! Unfortunately not the case on my older Venu 2 when I filmed 😔

sorry but this video I'd only looking at the lower level of Gaskin watches like ones Tustin are far far lower quality. get a Garmin 945 or Fenix series to make a fairer comparison

Garmin is a Sport watch with smart watch features, not a smart watch with sport features. Anyway why you want to chat on a very small screen, You own a smartphone with screen 10x bigger screen.

Hi, thanks for watching! Yep agreed Garmin has some of the smart features. The main attraction to me was all of those apps, even replying to people from the Wear OS smartwatch when my phone was somehwere deep in my backpack or when I was out on a run 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🙃 But I realised that there was a completely different reason (battery!) that drove me back to my Garmin 😃

After what Garmin did to the connect out. I went out and bought an Apple Watch Ultra, no regrets. I'll never buy another garmin product again.
