The 2023 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat trim is such an awesome truck. You can even take a road trip with confidence. If you leave it in sport mode, the regenerative braking will help extend the range whether you are driving in town or on a highway.

Every time I heard the chime I instinctively wanted to look up and/or grab the wheel from my kitchen 😅

You are very brave for making that stretch from Canyon to Trinidad on a single charge! Looks like you had plenty of juice though....I've arrived at 3% a number of times and been fine. I wish the GOM was better for sure! Looks like Raton is going to get some DC fast chargers and an adapter will make the SC network available in Clayton and Plainview as well. Happy Driving!

Thank you Brandon. Yeah I will definitely be happy when my adapter arrives so I can not sweat so much.

Hey I live in the Springs and just got an Lightning XLT. Wish I had Bluecruise but still enjoying it.

Awesome, howdy neighbor! Yeah I hear that from several XLT trim owners. BlueCruise is the main thing they wish they had different.

About the same cost as my Ranger going those speeds. Probably get around 26 mpg and gas around $3.30 so about 260miles for $33 (I know charging at home would be way way cheaper)
@F150LightningMike
@F150LightningMike 3 месяца назад
Yeah that’s what I realized, basically it is the same cost to travel with electric vs. gas. The way to save a little money though would be to charge as much as possible at hotels. Really though to charge up from say 20% to 100% at a hotel it will take about 17 hours. So you would need to get to a hotel by 4pm then let it charge till 9am and get back on the road. So it may not be as feasible unless you charge at a fast charger to get it to 50% then charge the rest of the way at a hotel.

Did you have the $7 Electrify America pass to reduce the KWh cost?

Good job on the video Mike. I was getting nervous for you. Did you precondition the battery for the first stop at EA when you went 10-80%?
@F150LightningMike
@F150LightningMike 3 месяца назад
Thanks for watching yeah it’s a little crazy. I think going 50 really helped me. No Ford doesn’t have the option to precondition the battery manually that I’ve found.

It seemed you were getting good charging speeds without preconditioning, is that because it was almost 70 degrees out I’d it common even when it’s cold outside to charge quickly Asher driving long distances?
@F150LightningMike
@F150LightningMike 3 месяца назад
Yeah I think it has to do with temperature. When I have charged below freezing it has been around 120kw

FORD needs CATL SHENXING batteries.
@F150LightningMike
@F150LightningMike 3 месяца назад
Yeah that would be nice. Ford is licensing tech from CATL, but it’s a LFP battery. So maybe the SHENXING will be in the future.

I'm wondering like if you want to replace the batteries in the future of they'll be able to use the newer batteries.

I'm assuming there was no bailout options on that 245 mile trek?

Nope, none at all. I was definitely taking a risk. :-)

Don't go 50 miles an hour at 20% just turn off aircon/heat and drive it like you stole it! LOL!
@F150LightningMike
@F150LightningMike 3 месяца назад
That’s funny! I actually halfway thought about seeing how far I could stretch it since I still had 11 % left :-) I did have ac and heat turn off most of the time. Just blowing outside air in.

Hey Mike, sorry for contacting you in the comments but I couldn’t find a direct contact. I’m very close to closing a deal on a 2023 lightning platinum. I’ve owned 4 other ford trucks, so I know the brand is good. Or has been for me. I’m selling my 2013 Raptor, 369,000 miles and still running. I currently own a Tesla model y, so evs aren’t new to me. My question : any reasons for me not to get the platinum? I do a lot of road trips, and some towing, but not usually long distances. Any feed back of thoughts greatly appreciated. John

Hi John, no problem contacting me on the comments. I actually try to respond to as many as I can so right now I don’t have a better way to contact me, but I am working on that. To answer your question I say right now the 2023 platinum is a good choice, and you can probably get a pretty good deal on it. I’ve seen them with almost 25K off of MSRP just know with the platinum that you are NOT getting the federal tax credit because it has an MSRP over 80 K. I do like the lariat extended range that I have but I have heard that the platinum seats are even better, and you will probably get a better deal on the platinum than I did on my lariat. Saying all that to say, I do not have any reason to tell you not to get it. I have a couple of pieces of advice and that is to be aware that the heavyweight of the truck is harder on tires so you have to add more air to compensate for it meaning I had tires that had a recommended PSI of 36 and I should have kept 42 in them. Just in case you need a good place to look to compare deals look on the Facebook group called “No Markup Fords”. There are several dealers on there all over the nation that are posting some of their best deals. It’s not just for lightning. It’s for any Ford so you will see a variety of posts.

Also, if you haven’t seen it yet you can get more information from my one year 26,000 mile review video. Now I have 33,000 and I’m still loving it. I’m curious if it’s gonna get the same amount of miles that your 2013 raptor has on it that would be a great video to do :-) 1 year - 26k mile - Review - Ford Lightning ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YZ-jeEzpk0w.html
