Lightspeed loaned us a new Delta Zulu headset to test out in a variety of aircraft. The Cirrus, being one of THE LOUDEST aircraft in the market, was a great test bed.
Watch and see what we found wearing Lightspeed's newest aviation headset with side-by-side comparison with their competitor, Bose and their new A30 headset.

First, thank you for not doing one of those brainless "unboxing" videos. Second, what a great and useful real-life user comparison between two of the best aviation headsets available today. Nicely done, thank you!

Thanks! We aim to share what we’d like to know before buying.

This is the second independent video that demonstrates to me that the mic on the lightspeed is clearer than the bose through an ICS, as recorded. The bose sounds more distorted.

Aviator version. Downside? the reflections inside the lenses. I’ve gotten used to it.

Bluetooth music quality in A30 gets a C-. A20 was wayyy better. A30 Sounds like a yellow sony walkman circa 1989... noise cancelling is good. comfort A-.

For Cirrus flying: I’m going to be doing some flying on one in the future, are they all a LEMO plug? Do they have a 2 pin GA also? I don’t really want to buy a fancy adapter just for one plane

With Lightspeed and Bose you can choose which option you want. I use the dual plug, since I never know which plane we will be flying. The Lemo is best if you are only flying one aircraft, or assured they all have Lemo (e.g. Cirrus)

A30s tend to break up with noise cancellation on takeoff, just like the click sound you described with zulus. Probably due less clamping. I had A20 before and they are much better. I think Bose dropped the ball with the noise cancelling with the upgrade.

Tigre and I are working with Bose to replicate some of the issues. We don't have that issue with our A30s, but some have reported it in comparison with A20s. If you have a problem with your A30s contact Bose as well. I do find the A30s more comfortable on longer flights, and we fly about 550-600 hours/year.

I definitely like the DZ better for the microphone. The Bose mic gain is too high and that makes your audio too crunchy. The DZ is smooth and not painful to listen to.

I haven’t noticed it too badly in our 3 months of use with the A30s. I wouldn’t trade that mic benefit for the not fun experience of the headphone ANR

I wonder why the gain on your A30s is so high. I listened to own clips with my A20s and I sound crystal clear, even more than the DZ in this example I would say

I think the mic boom size to take into consideration is your head width, it sits in front of your mouth while off to the side of his. That little space for your hat was a nice mention, something I would have never taken into consideration.

Thank you for the review. My personal experience with Lightspeed has been really bad. I had two Zulus with broken cables and there were no spare parts available from the manufacturer. The support was horrible and now the headsets are essentially garbage. I can only warn against purchasing a Lightspeed headset based on my experience.

Did you guys pull your CAPS pin? Cover still on😮
@PersonalWings
@PersonalWings Год назад
Always. I owned an SR22 for 15 years ,and co-owned an SR20 before that, and teaching/flying them for 20 years. I pull the pin, place it below the MFD and replace the cover. Some pilots will replace the cover partially. I typically don't and the cover in this particular plane doesn't stay in place if I do.
