Literally ALMOST every game in the series, and even Including the Spinoffs like Kurohyou and Judgement, Gaiden is one of the few games where the final boss fight is not during nighttime
@@MatsuSenpaii Yeah, it actually felt kind of weird in all honesty. I'm so used to having Kiryu stand in front of his opponent while they both have a staring contest for 6 minutes before fighting on top of a building.
@@rabbss830 isn't it evening during the fight against Kuwana? I know the fight against RK started at afternoon (a bit dark skies), but after the fight against Kuwana seems like it was already evening
>"Yeah that's just a game to recontextualize Yakuza Like a Dragon and the upcoming Infinite Wealth" >Begins to write the most emotions Kiryu has shown ever since Yakuza 3
@@HeavySandvichGuy1I'm guessing you did lots of side content, because I did a ridiculous amount of side content at one point and I think I have less than 30 hours of playtime by the end
@@averybruhman5060 No, I think shishido has EVERYTHING to lose in this fight, the omi alliance-everything he ever had, he bet it all on this fight, while Kiryu, the man who erased his name has nothing to lose since he is already dead in everyone's eyes.
@@averybruhman5060 Yeahh he's pretty much one of the Strongest foes tho in Yakuzaverse so far tho only below Kiryu, Serious Majima and Saejima, and also Mine tho
@@Future_Doggo a quote from another game: “He was born in the wrong age”. Shishido encapsulated that feeling you get from Kuze. "The Man Who Gets Beat Down Isn't The Loser. The Guy Who Can't Tough It Out To The End, He's The One Who Loses...”
This isn't just Shishido's boss theme. It's the boss theme of ending the chains of the Yakuza once and for all after trying to escape them since Kiwami's finale.
"No Kiryu! I will not let you and the others dissolve the Omi alliance, this is my Deadly Struggle to the top!" "I'm not Kiryu but my strength are just Like a Dragon and i have no name because i am the man who erased his name!"
The most shocking part of gaiden is the fact that all face rigs survived the game. (hope we get to see tsuruno and hanawa again.) (wouldn't surprise me if the daidoji mention shishido and nishitani eventually due to them getting forcefully intergrated.)
It would be cool if they continue the Daidoji faction story without Kiryu maybe turn Shishido as a playable character dude proved has potential and after his backstory they can use it pull out few a trilogy with him trying to rank the highest among the Daidoji
@@JinKolmak_TaKoi am honestly expecting the daidoji to become prominent antagonists, personally. they’re a yakuza-like group with massive political influence that are the means that enabled ryo aoki’s rise to power. i feel like they’ve had an overwhelming negative influence on the world as a whole and want more power; they seem like our future villains to me.
@@VioletOrbWeaver yeah that's all about Daidoji wich could make them interesting seeing in the eyes of Shishido would be amazing especially since with Kiryu it could be boring because since Y3 the orphanage was brought back too much and kinda repetitive as plot. With Shishido they can refresh the plot and bring new stuff in the table and Kiryu can mostly be mentioned or meet him in future as a enemy (if Cancer doesn't finish him first) like a final boss fight between these two but the roles are changed this time.
The image of Kiryu and Shishido clashing fists during the final QTE and throwing out a visible shockwave effect is like something straight up out of a superhero movie. In real life, that's a good way to shatter every bone in your hand. In Yakuza/LAD world, it's just a tiny detail of a tectonic-shifting final battle. This entire fight is just madness, a rehashed version of the final battle with Aizawa at the end of Yakuza 5, but with much higher emotional stakes. The music is one of the most violent and aggressive tracks in the entire series, but also has its melancholic tones, and it fits with Shishido's mental state. The whole world he knows is in danger of being taken out from under him, and he's raging against that right to the bitter end. But even if he is victorious, the Omi won't survive for long against the government crackdowns. So he's a wild animal, backed into a corner, hurling himself against the immovable object of Kiryu, time and again. And Kiryu is finally putting to rest the spectre of the Yakuza world that's haunted him most of his life. Sure, he was Chairman of Japan's largest Yakuza organisation, but only for a day. But he still knows full well the only way to finally dismantle the Yakuza is to do so with his fists. He's already given up his life and erased his name, so this is the last thing he had to do to finally move on from his old life. A man with nothing left to lose versus a man with everything to lose.
@@breadburner7276yeah but Kiryu could barely keep up at the end Shishido proved being stronger managing to leave Kiryu with no breath and that's kinda a huge achievements since even Mine and Saejima managed to reach Kiryu's in his limit.
I will not tolerate Aizawa slander but on a more serious note Shishindo is just Aizawa 2.0, Like: - both fight Kiryu when they first meet him - they're both revealed to be bad guys in the finale - they fight in the HQ of their respective Yakuza clans - both have banger boss fights - both have dreams they wanna fufill by becoming the top dogs
I was thinking the same thing but I think despite how short the game is Shishido got a good amount of screen time to develop him and his character naturally all the way through. Aizawa was great but wasn’t as compelling to me as shishido and we might get even more of him in IW
To be fair, him being stuck as a side character for a majority of the game didn't really help. It's like the worst Mine situation where they dump his motivation near the tail-end of the game.
The man who lost everything vs. The man who wanted it all How did they make a contender for best final boss in the series in a game that took 6 months to make
Jingu, Iwami, Munakata, Kurosawa: - " Pfft, typical, you've taken the bait, time to spring the trap and end this once and for all. " Aizawa, Shibusawa, Ryuji, Tendo, Mine: - " Make your way to me so that we may finally settle our differences face to face. May the strongest win. " Shishido ( _seeing multiple yakuza legends on the same spot_ ): - 😠😡🔪🤬🔥🔥🔪🔪
Says a lot when two Yakuza legends struggle to hold Shishido back. Shishido should have had a dragon tattoo on his back. When fighting with his back to the wall, man was an absolute monster. Never mind that substory with all the fake Ryuji's: the real second coming of Ryuji Goda is right here.
I failed two times against him due to the Katana Mortal Attacks, i then knew he meant business. Even though he was the final obstacle and had to be stopped, he didn't deserve to be dragged with Nishitani to whatever hell the Daidoji has in mind for him.
Kazuma Kiryu, the Dojima no Ryu, the dragon that represents Tojo against the man that alone represents what a yakuza is and can fight alone with anyone if is to protect what he believes. Easily top 5 fights in the franchise
this mf fought kiryu, watase and tsuruno then fell in a pit of metal then came back hella injured then got ganked by saejima and majima then fights kiryu AND THEN STILL WHEN HES DOWN HE WANTS TO FIGHT 💀
I liked the part where Son Joryu let Shishido power up to full strength so his defeat would be extra demoralizing to the people opposing the dissolution of the clans.
We've had plenty of great boss themes, some are emotional and others are manly (all tend to be funky fresh tho) but I don't think we've ever had one of such pure testosterone. Great theme for a great final boss, you gotta respect the sheer determination and grit of this dude to see some of the biggest names of the Yakuza series and say "Square the fuck up, I'll bury you" and not just be hot air about it
Ahh yes The Better Aizawa tho, He's the man that would reach on top no matter what happen to him or no... He's basically the embodient of Nothing To lose until he reach his destiny and Power He's basically the kinda Opposite of Kiryu tho, so yeahh no wonder he's searching for a Worthy Fight and he get it, even though he fail
I've noticed that people seem to like the antagonists that are more like rivals than actual villains in this series. Examples of this being Shishido, Ryuji, Kuze, etc.
Shishido kinda reminds me of Jin from Samurai Champloo. Here me out, Jin and that samurai he fought (name escapes me) are both extremely skilled swordsman basically born too late in the world for their skills to be used at their peak, they’re a dying, almost complete dead breed of man that the world no longer needs. Shishido is exactly that. If he had been born earlier and had been a Yakuza around when the legends were; Kiryu, Majima, Saejima, etc. he probably would’ve easily become a legend alongside them by his strength and tenacity alone. But he wasn’t, he was born later and became prominent in the death throws of the Yakuza.
He kinda has become a legend. The guy who rallied the Omi remnants into a last stand against the four pillars of the Tojo and went down fighting until he could only crawl.
@@MasatakaEbina He literally had the best writing for any of the Yakuza antagonists except for Nishiki. Mine, Daigo, Aizawa, and Iwami all sucked story-wise.
Shishido literally use a Katana to try take down Joryu/Kiryu down and still can't do it, And canonically Kiryu didn't even get that Bruised against him, most of that Bruised is because he's in that condition after Fighting The Whole Omi and Tojo
When I compare all of the final bosses in this series, this one ranks surprisingly high for a "side game" (what a load of shit lmao.) If I'm trying not to weigh gameplay too much over story or vice versa, I'd probably say this is the third best final boss in the franchise. Number 1 will always go to the final boss of Judgment, that fight is fucking PEAK in story and is a great and challenging fight in gameplay, only losing out to one other boss in that regard. That boss, being Aizawa, gets second place because while I would say from a purely gameplay perspective it's a slightly better fight than The Mole, Aizawa falls a bit flat story wise. In third is where I'd put Shishido now, who steals the spot just barely from Shibusawa.
W ranking.. here mine 1- nishiki: I just love how you spend yakuza 0 with him, and the flashbacks during the fight in kiwami 2- Shishido 3- Aizawa: like you said is amazing gameplaywise but I feel like he disappeared during the 90% of the game, I wished he was more active during the main story
Just finished Gaiden a few hours ago after finally getting into it. I'm kind of shocked that this fairly short little side game actually created a final boss to rival Kuroiwa and Soma (technically not final, but close enough) in my mind. Hell, Shishido might be up there for my favourite Kiryu antagonist with Mine and Goda.
Kiryu ended up beating him by himself, so Shishido would get absolutely clobbered by Majima and Saejima in an actual fight ( Saejima is equal with Kiryu, and Majima is only weaker than Kiryu by an extremely small margin)
couldn't hear this theme over the fact i had to heal after every hit, since i had bloody binding, talisman, ring and gruesome chainmail, i was also on hard mode
