Like a Phoenix from the Ashes - Will Sonic X Shadow Generations Revive Shadow the Hedgehog? 

In a interview with game rant Iizuka-san confirmed that Shadow Generations is more story focused then the original generation.

I honestly think Sonic X Shadow Generations is going to revive Shadow and by looking at the game his character sounds like Shadow is on a good path.

The hype is real! Sonic Team said that they are focused on making other characters playable so I'm really looking forward to Silver, the Chaotix, Cream, Blaze, Rouge or Omega.

Seeing Rail Canyon/Bullet Station and Kingdom Valley made me so happy 😭

Part of me is curious... I wonder how far this will go in terms of the Bosses and Rival Fights. It would be interesting if there was a POV of Shadow fighting Sonic, and the fight we all assumed was a win was now recontexualized to be a tie. It would be both awesome and hilarious if we got another fight with Silver, and gave him another Size 15 dent in his head. More than anything else, though, I genuinely want to see the other bosses. We saw how grotesque Biolizard can be now that his gills move, imagine Black Bull, or a more HD Textured Mephiles!

As a Heroes fan myself, Rail Canyon and Bullet Station returning is a huge plus, it's one location we haven't actually seen come back yet compared to all the other locations from Heroes like Seaside Hill, Casino Park, and Final Fortress. BTW are you excited for the July 6th animated prologue?

I could go either way on Shadow keeping the Doom Powers. On one hand, I can see how giving the powerful character even more powers can be a tad silly. On the other, the whole "the world fears your power" shtick Mephiles and Black Doom tried to pull might actually mean something if Shadow's a hedgehog-shaped alien abomination. Plus, someone pointed out that the wings and the "surfing" power are basically replacements for the Sonic 06 Glider and Hovercraft. Also, aliens are cool and the fanart's going to be great either way.

Shadow is a hero and I like him more than Sonic because he's relateable and real in his emotional acting. Where Sonic is this brave,pure and almost carefree hero,exactly this makes him unreal. Nobody is like that. Shadow one the other hand acts like a real person would do with all this shit that happend to him. It makes him feel real. Lots of heris from that older time are these perfect characters full of good intentions and always jumping into the fire for others. Beacons of light, like Mario,Sonic and Link. So yeah Shadow is the best writtin charakter in Sonic If you ask me.

Well if you think about it. It makes sense that the levels of shadow are fusions of older stages because the stages represent shadows fragmented memory/trauma by that being said shadow could be going through his fragmentation of what was his memory and picks up the pieces of it while creating his own time

I’m genuinely excited for this. I’m still kinda new to Sonic, the only games I’ve played are Mania, generations and frontiers, but I know everything about all the characters. So I’m hyped to see Shadow (my favorite character) return to his former glory.

i don't think that this is going to fix shadow, but i hope this is at least a step in the right direction. i really think the only way they could truly set shadow back into being himself is to bring back shiro maekawa

Iizuka said in an interview that he spent a lot of time overseeing the writing for Sonic Movie 3, saying he'd go out of his way to make sure Shadow was written just right, as this was a very big deal for his character.

It feels like Sonic team wants to revive shadow as a character, he feels so much more well done than before.

My confidence in this project is high. Its been a good while since Ive been this hyped for a new sonic game.... but I'd never preorder a video game.

Being honest, I hope he'll get a Black Arm form like Devil Doom & it'll be a recurring thing (simply because the normal Super Form bored me, pls don't kill me, & overall an idea of every character having their own power-ups & transformations sounds really nice).

I always love the original version of Shadow from Sonic Adventure 2 no matter what. In my opinion, Shadow should not have been brought back to life after Sonic Adventure 2 because it cheapened the emotional impact of his sacrifice at the end of Sonic Adventure 2 and turned him from someone who was originally just a broken man saddened by the loss of his only friend in Sonic Adventure 2 into an edgy parody of himself in almost all of his future appearances and from what I understand, the original plan for Shadow was to NOT bring him back to life after Sonic Adventure 2. But because Shadow became so immensely popular in Sonic Adventure 2 and because there was such a huge demand to bring him back after Sonic Adventure 2, he was brought back to life. When Shadow was brought back to life after Sonic Adventure 2, he went from a memorable character to a mediocre character (I haven't played 06 by the way and I have no intention of doing so). As far as I'm concerned, we the fans get to decide whatever is canon and I say that it is canon that Shadow fulfilled the dying wish of his only friend Maria by saving Earth at the cost of his own life and then reunited with Maria in Heaven. That said, I'm still looking forward to Sonic X Shadow Generations because I consider the version of Shadow in that game to be an alternate version of Shadow. And Winged Shadow looks dope, he gives me Devil Kazuya vibes. I pair Winged Shadow with a version of Maria that has angel wings. lol

Seriously, I'm so mad about the preorders. I had to have Gerald's journal so I preordered the physical copy before I even read the digital bonuses, but I want the extra level and art works too. 😭

Yeah Shadow was traditionally indifferent and serious, and as of late he has been portrayed as antagonistic. I am not expecting a massive amount of content in Shadow Generations. So far we only have proof that there are 3 zone themes, we know there are two acts, 3D and 2D acts - so that is 6 stages. Anything more than that is a bonus. I hope there is enough content to give people a good overview of his history. Shadow also can't go beyond 06 if they are going to going to be parallel with Sonic Generations, which means he has 4 games, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06. Creating levels from Shadow the Hedgehog... we'll see if they do that, it is mostly remembered for its city stages, like Westopolis. Most of the game takes place there, any other time it is forgettable theme or revisiting the ark. Bring back Black Doom might be the only content that returns from Shadow the Hedgehog, we might not even see the other Black Aliens, because then you are going from fighting robots to fighting things that bleed which might affect the rating.

Ace Card Gaming, that was an EXCELLENT video , though there is an information that probably will blow your mind, is that there is a lot of people who consider shadow their favorite character but THEY HAVE no idea that shadow sacrificed himself to save earth in sonic adventure 2, i don't how to describe how i felt when i realized that from my interaction with a lot of people who like shadow, but what do you think of that?, i'm curious

While I'm not certain whether or not Shadow will be written as well as he was in games like Adventure 2 or '06 (though I'm hoping they nail it with the third movie 🙏 ), I feel like this is going to be the closest we're going to get with Shadow being who he was before and with seeing how this game is shaping up along with the comics starting to put him on the right track again, I can say for certain the future is looking bright for not just Shadow, but for other characters as well. (Hopefully...)

I'm so glad he's coming back into the spotlight. What kinda annoys me is that now every one and their mother RU-vidr suddenly starts streaming the his game: Shadow the Hedgehog. Before almost nobody cared about the game and the mainstream and hated it.But know Shadow is getting more attention again so RU-vidrs start playing it for the views. It annoys me.

To be honest I'm here just for shadow as I have been sense early 2000's. But the fear of them ruining his is so scary man I love shadow. I just came from watching sonic prime (you know with shadow on the front) and he shows up like not at all I'm so not happy with his representation. Honestly can't wait to see what they do with him after this I need a fully shadow tv show or legit just another game maybe shadow the hedgehog remake or something.

I love what they did with shadow and his stages but they could’ve done better for sonic and classic sonic and their stages and their models. I agree that this is the opportunity for Sega to return back to to Shadow’s roots, and what made him a great foil to Sonic among the cast. He’s compelling in many ways, but he is more than an edgy, Vageta knock off. Not quite sure about Shadow’s voice, maybe I’m biased to Griffith. But I’m looking forward to this return to form. For Shadow, and the rest of the cast fundamentally.

OH MY GOD THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME Sega gets you excited for a sonic game and then once it comes out it ends up being absolute trash!!

As far as his boost animation, I'd rather it be that he flies instead of a fast run animation considering his whole thing with his shoes is that he can float with them. Now if they add a method of being able to HOVER and/or SLOW DESCEND while mid-air, then it would probably be perfect. Because let's be honest, outside of the one cutscene in SA2, he never really actually used his shoes to hover around aside from his skate run animation. Not to mention, it helps him visually stand apart from Sonic and any other character that has utilized the boost. Helps sell the idea that he's bursting with Chaos energy with him basically utilizing Super Sonic's "Run"/Boost animation, at least in my opinion. Also I'm curious if the return of the "Chaos Warp" (what I personally rename the level flying/skip ability) and Chaos Blast from Shadow '05 will return, along with them having the appropriate blue and red aura coloring of course. Granted, part of me has a feeling that they MIGHT be spiritually returning but more in the form of the new Doom powers.
