Season 1 better This episode felt like there was a lot of missing content. How the fuck Gata and him put together the VMA show out of no where? Last he left gata it was as if they were no longer speaking.

@@herpallday1284 No last he left Gata he was looking at his walk ass recording booth. So they were together hours before the VMAs. The track was already recorded at the beginning of the episode. It's the same song Gata is singing. They just had to switch the lyrics around. You can write a rap song in 10 minutes or freestyle it. They didn't need to record it yet either because it's a live performance so all you need is the beat. I work in the entertainment industry. I've personally worked at the Billboard music awards before. You'd be suprised how often switches happen last minute and things go wrong and they have to fix or completely change up. This is totally do-able and able to be achieved. Plus just read critic reviews they rave about the second season. People who know how story telling, character development, and quality content work. I love the first season but the second season was better. Much more risky and creative. It all works and they pulled it off. It will get Emmy nominations next year for best comedy. Your perfectly entitled to your opinion that season 1 is better but there are a lot of reasons it actually wasn't.

He wasn't just performing WITH Dave, it was the same song Gata was working on as the eppy first opened. Plus Dave gave him the kings entrance center stage. Says a lot about their argument in the eppy and Dave realizing he needs to do more for the ones closest to him. Fantastic episode all around.

That’s one of the many moments that bring tears out of me. They get to see their boy shine despite the struggles he endures

@@mikej7513 I think the XXL video song was in reference to when he was actually on XXL in 2016. The beat that they switched to was really similar. Plus if you watch his XXL his verse is so short compared to the others. It may have actually went down like it did because he takes so much from his real life and puts it in the show...obviously not all by any stretch. I could totally see something like that happening tho. I do hope they put out a full song. I listen the the show version all the time now lol

@@brycetaylor3540 yes indeed, the freestyle prior to the XXL video was referencing his 2016. The wife asked if I’d seen the episode before, and I had to tell her I recognized the freestyle from his 2016 XXL shoot. Nonetheless, call it Dave or Penith and just drop all the songs, including the Ally one. Phenomenal show with great character development and story telling. Can’t wait until season 3!

Shows a lot of growth on Dave’s part that he’s willing to let Ally go for the sake of her own happiness. It’s one of the rare times he doesn’t put himself first. I feel like most people are guilty of this, I never really even thought about it but I’m sure iv been guilty of this in past relationships. Whoever Ally is based on Dave clearly cares about her a lot

I know this is late, but another parallel to note. At the end of S1 during his last bar of the breakfast club scene, it ends with “I’m -“ and the DAVE logo pops up to close. Now, in S2 when we found out Gata is also named Dave, the end of the S2 finally ends with both saying “We - “ and the DAVE logo popping up again. “I’m” in S1 to “we” in S2 is a great display of Dave’s ego taking a backseat and hopefully a sign of a much happier S3😌

You did it the best way ..I understand most people can't binge watch .kids or school or job etc but personally I have time and I binge because my memory from weed sucks and I only remember shows in totality if I binge watch .

I saw him rapping freestyle and was intrigued when they mentioned his show coming up. I was amazed but his rap abilities and the show didn't disappoint.
