I think bc the abuse from her mom/brother is not as obvious or as bad to her when compared to her dad's abuse, she most likely dismisses it/downplays it.

I feel like this is a pretty huge factor here because people are going to remove ALL agency from her, but... teenagers DO want to look cool and sexy to other teenagers :/ that's exactly how 14-year-old girls acted a decade ago when I was in school. The outfit is more like what pop star teens wear, but in rap, all the icons she's looking to are full-grown women with adult aesthetics - Doja, Meghan, Cardi etc. Her being inspired by them isn't the fault of any problem, but it is the job of her mother and brother to look out for her and discourage her from dancing in athletic underwear online. They could have said no to everything that was inappropriate, whether it was Tay's idea or not. 100% this is still on their shoulders. But she probably isn't being held hostage.

The issue is that she's not "still just a child", in the sense that she's now a much older child. She seems to be very enthusiastic about this aesthetic... Young teenagers don't have the capacity to make this kind of choice 😢 they need to be protected from themselves and her family has enabled this, bad intentions or not.

i'm confused as to why conversatons are printed when she could put her phone's screen in the vid nc i'm more than sure they have an editor to make her vids ;-; even if you change phones as long as everything is backed up in icloud you can keep all of your old messages ;-;

It's so angering that people will dismiss abuse claims from imperfect victims. Yes, the brother (who was still a child) bullied his little sister. Yes, her mother enables dangerous behaviour. But this family has been in court for YEARS. If it was all total bs, the court wouldn't have put her with her problematic mother and brother and let them move country.

@@theMoporter First, courts tend to keep children with the mother. That's how it is, and a lot of very good fathers lose custody to bad mothers this way. Second, as a teenager, it would be very easy for her to literally tell the courts that she would prefer to live with her mother and they are more likely to grant that, as she's old enough to make a decision on which parent she would like to live with. Abuse does not have to be happening for custody battles or for custody to be awarded to one parent in particular. Because, if you recall, the courts actually removed her from her mothers custody, when all of this was going down five years ago, and placed her in her fathers care.

100% the mom and brother did the hoax. I think they abuse the dad cause it's easy to pin shit on him and not the other way around. All those images she showed... they showed nothing. And it's so easy to manipulate images these days. To me it's obvious this whole thing is a scam. First the hoax, now this video BUT along with a music video. Like... c'mon people, how can you fall for this? I feel bad for her cause she is far from being free, all she talked in this video it's like hearing her brother and mom. She is not herself, she doesn't have HER identity. Sadly she is the mom and brother's product... I genuine believe the father wanted to keep her safe far from the public and social media, but the mom and brother started to lose money so they freaked out. What a crappy family.

There's always a possibility of parental alienation going on though. With all the allegations that both Tay and her brother threw at her dad and both the brother's "proof" and Tay's lackthereof (currently at least), there's a very reasonable possibility that what they consider to be "abuse" is highly exaggerated and even distorted to help with her comeback. The father has been quiet on the internet front and has stuck to the courts, so we have no idea about him other than what the unreliable brother and mother say. Tay is young and has previously been proven to be highly coached and taught what to say and how to act by the brother. Of course, still could be the case the dad is terrible, but I'm more inclined to think he had nothing to do with the death hoax like Tay's brother claims and that these abuse allegations are further attempts to both generate buzz for Tay's comeback and for the mom to be spiteful to her ex

@@sabrina21797 i would agree but she showed a picture of her face bruised with blood, the police report, pictures of the rotten food, and the messages of her dad saying if her mom kept sending her lunch he was gonna deduct the child support makes me extremely suspicious.

@@theMoporter well yeh of course but if you could attribute it to anything it is because they get some sick and twisted enjoyment out of it. However, generally people that do these sorts of things want to hide the fact that they are doing it so that they can continue doing it in some way, not do something that will lead to it being put out to the public

It was well-established that her family lived in Vancouver while the custody stuff was being worked out. That's not really being debated.

Yeah, the dad might also be an awful person, but I can't help but think she's been told what to say by her mum and brother. I just feel bad for her. Even if she's 15 that's still so young, and she really need professional help either way. It's important to believe victims when they come forward, but to me this doesn't feel like she's coming forward and healing, but more like someone is feeding her these things to say to get attention online
