Their dad was a music producer when the kids were small and is now their manager. He is affectionately known as Papa Liliac. They do all recording in their studio they built in their basement and filmed this and a few other videos there as well. Sam, lead guitarist edits all the videos.
Liliac will often wear outfits that give a nod to the artist they’re covering. The original was done by the White Stripes and they’re wearing white stripes, when they covered Nirvana’s Teen Spirit they wore plaid flannel shirts, for The Trooper the wore camo. Also Justin was onboard with the “punches”, as they said “no little brothers were harmed while this video. You may have noticed Melody and Sam have shorter hair, they cut it donated it it an organization that makes wigs for children who’ve lost theirs due to chemotherapy and other medical treatments. I recommend Mars(live in Cummings, GA), an original that begins with an amazing guitar solo by Sam, or Dear Father, We Are the Children, Sail Away or Not Afraid (extended version) which are all originals. Their dad was a music producer and didn’t want the kids sitting around playing video games on weekends so he suggested instruments to each child and the kids started lessons. When it was obvious they were all musically gifted, the parents started homeschooling them so they could attend music school. They all graduated from high school at age sixteen.
I saw Liliac in October in Columbus, Ohio and had a great time. I was right in front of Sam (guitar) and Melody (vocals) the entire time. It was a lot of fun and they sounded great. I think I have this song and their stunning original, “Sail Away,” recorded on my phone. I should upload them sometime.
Amazing band!! They have been rocking since they were young teens and have just gotten better and better....and Melody...what can you say. A few other originals to check: Not Afraid, Chain of Thorns, We are the Children, Dancing in the Dark, Crazy Nights, Sail Away...to name a few. Enjoy the rabbit hole!!
You should try a very old cover of theirs when they were all much younger. Ozzy Osbourn's "Crazy train" They used to play at the Santa Monica pier when they were young, and they made a video there.
The song (original by The White Stripes) was big on the radio back in the day, as well as still popular at sporting events. I'm surprised they haven't heard it
Now I was never a fan of the group that done the song originally, The White Stripes, and though I've heard The White Stripes version, I never really cared for the song either. You are apt to hear the opening notes of the song at college football games and I guess I liked that better than the actual song...that is until I heard the Liliac version. Just a matter of opinion and personal taste I guess, but I love, love, love the Liliac version of the song, "Seven Nation Army". I also love that the give a nod to the original artists with their outfits.
You can't go wrong with any Liliac song . Try Not Afraid extended version or Rise Up . Both are originals . For covers try Dream On and Heaven and Hell . All are 🔥 !
These kids were homeschooled, taking music lessons and recording in studios when they were still in grammar school. There's a reason they're so polished at such a young age. They play beyond their years for sure.
Seven Nation Army was a popular song by The White Stripes, there was a remix cover done by The Glitch Mob that was so good it got featured on The White Stripes official youtube channel. I only mention this because they seem to be copying The Glitch Mob version rather than the original.
They are supertalented, they deserve to be bigger and stop recording covers. They won´t be able to grow as much as they should if they keep themselves in their confort zone.I really hope they release good original songs. keep rocking Liliac
I've heard the original version, but not this one. It's not a bad cover, but you should check out the one from White Stripes. Thank you, ladies for allowing me to follow you on your Rock and Roll journey!
For whatever reason, people assumed she was pregnant...not the case, she did get married so took time off to prepare the wedding, honeymoon and settling in. She will be back on the tour this summer.
