Played revenge in a draft this week. Absolutely insane in orzhov decks. You’re gaining life and draining with a bunch of cards anyway and this essentially doubles the cumulative effect of that strategy. Monster swing for 6 mana.

@18:30 Mass Manipulation was in my sealed prerelease pool. I cast it 3 times for 8, 8 and 12 mana stealing 2, 2 and 4 creatures.

For me guardian Project was insane every time I played it or have it played against me. From my experience true aggro-decks are pretty rare. In midrange/control mirrors the card is insane and I will keep on firstpicking it very often^^

The exact turn of Nikya into Hydroid Krasis hurt a lot, 12 mana Hydroid Krasis (heal 6, draw 6) on turn 6 is a game ender. Its rare, but oh so satisfying.

1:59:25 Pretty sure Riot isn't a trigger and doesn't use the stack. Soooo even fewer situations where you'll cast Repudiate.

Yep, riot is frustratingly uninteractive, which means you can’t Scorchmark a 2/2 before it riots or cast Grotesque Demise on a 3/3 before it riots.

Rakdos has a number of things to use Gutterbones with. The 3/1 sac a creature for unblockable, and the 2/2 sac a creature to do 2. Things that turn on spectacle by themself, but yeah otherwise it just gets outclassed so fast.

I've found the alternative win condition actually is relevant sometimes if you have a couple of galloping lizrogs, because each counter counts 3x as much (once for the original counter, and then the lizrog puts twice as many on itself 1:49:15

Rix Maadi isn't optional. I found that out the hard way. Ps maindeck the enchantment removal. All the enchamments in this set are gas.

Kaya is ok vs orzhov and if you see the ooze, she exiles tokens as well. Or If you see a couple of recursion effects like gutterbones, return and the spectacle one, it's been a sideboard like c minus from playing her a couple times now.

i sideboard mass manipulation into my simic ramp deck for planeswalker heavy oponents. normally i cast it for 1 or 2 but the record was for 6.

Got an 8 for 1 with Mass Manipulation in one of my first sealed matches on the day the set released. I did a few laps around the room. EDIT: to be clear, I'm talking about X = 4 for 12 mana, stealing 4 creatures.

The green adapt 2 drops are amazing as mana sinks as is a simic splash, if your super lucky like me you get nikya and a krasis, turn 4 nikya into krasis x 10 on turn 5, it's a silly curve since you then draw 5.

44:17 I'm curious if the fact that Amplifire makes your draws slightly worse is something that matters. I don't think it makes your draws much worse (though I did not check the math there) so probably not but it is the sort of thing I always find interesting to think about. 1:59:15 I assume the main reason you actually cast repudiate is to counter adapt mid combat in mirrors. So considering this set it is much less of a blank than normal (though obviously replicate is still the main mode) that being said I feel the card overall is a bit worse than they made it sound.

Gutterbones is very good with fireblade artist btw. Also as you seem to be getting carried away with growth chamber guardian its a 5 mana 4/4 in limited thats all.

As far Prime Speaker Zannifar's creature type, with her "not looking like an ooze", check out her arms. They are basically ooze arms! Priest of Forgotten Gods is the truth. As you said, I had other removal and lots of afterlfe but a Simic player stabilized at 8 life. I was able to chump block and sac w/ Minister of Obligations, Orzhov Racketeers and a couple other low drops to the point where I got the 8 reach damage over 4 turns (it also let me draw more creatures and cast them while reducing their board). That card is a bomb against certain decks

100% agree with this. At least in Orzhov, it's a must kill threat. Untapping with Priest with any kind of board often feels like untapping with a Pack Rat.

i drafted vanifar and I basicly didnt really draft around her. Sadly i never got to use her because she always got hit by removal. in those games, if she wouldnt have been removed she would be quite good. I think she isnt the ultra bomb but she is realy solid. I would give her a B+

they forgot to mention the state-based action trick with angel of grace: OP attacks with a 5/5 and a 4/4. we're at 4. flash in angel of grace, block the 5/5. damage is dealt, and angel's replacement effect keeps you alive, THEN state-based actions are checked and creatures with lethal damage on them die. untap, play land 6 and gain 10. card is an A in my book.

Since the ability is etb and until end of turn, it doesn't really matter if the angel is around when you take lethal damage. No real trick here.

Guardian Project is better than Beast Whisperer, which was one of the best cards in GRN, because it's an enchantment & there's almost no way to remove it.

HelloGammaRay While that is a valid comparison and I agree Project is probably stronger, I don’t think it’s straight-up better. Project can’t attack or block and punishes you for playing multiples.

How many times did you ever attack or block w/ Beast Whisperer though? The board is never empty enough on turn 5 or later for a 2/3 to chip in on the ground & you're not blocking with it except to avoid lethal. It just sat there like an enchantment, but got picked off at the 1st sign of creature removal.

@@combustible287 I won w/ Golgari, Sultai, or Abzan Glaive decks a lot in GRN, so far every time I play green I just get stonewalled unless I've got a lot of blue fliers, but I'd rather just be esper

Seraph is stupidly strong it attacks and threatens to eat any bigger creature, so it trades with some 6 drop after hitting with it and possibly negating multiple attacks. And it has a ton of synergies from afterlife 2. Its almost always a 2 for 1 and gets in for 4 to 8 points of dmg and as a top deck when behind its remove a bigger creature then have 2 flyers to beat or chump with.

Verity circle can be good, had a temur deck with multiple code of constraints and chillbringer, also ran it with wilderness reclamation. Was great vs every other green deck, and solid vs non rakdos. Also I've had 3 Growth-Chamber Guardians in my pile in an Arena draft, they sat in my sideboard of my sick esper deck ...YAY MTG Arena bots :P

It's good in a big mana deck. You really need to get to 9 10 mana for it to be good. It's amazing when you get to tap and still have mana for other things.

I think they are really overestimating Dovin. at his floor his comes out makes a thopter and dies(or you're opponent just ignores Dovin and goes to you're face). at his ceiling you play Dovin hit you're opponent with a bunch of creature and you can quickly ultimate him in 2-3 turns but at that point you are hitting you're opponent with a bunch of creatures and you're opponent cant hit you buck so aren't you winning anyway? so at his floor his just makes a chump blocker and at his ceiling his just win more.not saying his unplayable his still a 3 mana planeswalker that can make thopters but he is not amazing.

@Professional Witcher I would consider a 5/4 flyer with flash that can keep you from losing for a turn an absolute bomb, but that's just me, they didn't have much reasoning beyond saying the text was janky and confusing, which I don't understand

The reasoning is because you want to cast the Angel on curve as a 5 mana 5/4 flyer and since limited games don't usually result in someone attacking for lethal on turn 5, then it will be vanilla 95% of the time. Generally speaking you will win the game with it or it will die, then the gain 9 life ability might become a factor but there's no guarantee that's true either. The situational aspect of drawing and playing it the turn your opponents swings for lethal or the incorrect option to hold it until they attack for lethal instead of playing it on curve as a big flyer results in the Angels stats and abilities being most relevant. Those stats are great but not A range.
