My Classic Car Specs:
1980 Lincoln Continental Mark VI
(5.8 liter 351 Windsor V8)
- Carbureted year 1980 only -
NOTE: Vehicle is in working progress and is a survivor first generation Panther Platform.
Proud owner of my 1980 Lincoln Continental Mark VI (5.8 liter 351 Windsor V8). The Legacy of this generation Mark is greatly undiscovered and under appreciated by many. The Lincoln Continental Mark VI was technology and beauty in motion from model years 1980-1983. It is my hope to be a valued resource for quality content and make evident why the Mark VI is a significant contributor to Lincolns rich history.

Wow Tedly, that’s gonna be great! Maybe we’ll run across each other at a Metro Detroit C&C. M1 Concourse has a Ford & Lincoln feature with a large turnout. Congratulations on your find, hope you have an incredible experience. Thanks for watching!!!

Can't wait for your next installment. I never thought about the vacuum loss on headlights! The Mark VI I just purchased (1982) has been sitting for about 7 or more years. Can't wait when she comes home from the garage; I'll bet the headlight covers will be closed! Keep us posted on your beautiful example. As Lincoln put it many years ago: "Nothing Could Be Finer."

I have a brochure of the 1982 Mark 6, along with 1982 Town Car brochure and 1982 Continental brochure. I love the early Lincoln, real luxury compared to today's so called luxury Lincoln cars.

The Lincoln Town Car and Mark VI are as close to automotive perfection as it ever got, in my opinion, across that critical gamut of beauty, reliability, longevity, comfort, style, ease of maintenance and pleasure of use. Driving used to be a lot about pleasure, and these cars remind you of that fact. Absolutely nothing else thrills me automotively as much as these older Lincolns do, and that’s been true since I was old enough to be conscious of cars. The 351 is always desirable to find. You could hit that engine with a bazooka and it would probably still be trying to run - strong as an ox. Glad to see this car being lovingly owned and enjoying a QUALITY second life. What we’ve got is all we’ve got left - FOREVER. I wish more people understood that.

Wow! 🤩 beautifully started and in complete agreement. it’s been my goal all along to spread positive news about the Mark VI. it’s so wonderful to hear others share the same opinion. spring starts tomorrow so i’m ready to work on what maintenance is needed next for this rare luxury vehicle. i’m planning to keep it running forever.

You will want to start introducing the car to Marvel mystery oil. I have a video posted about it. It is responsible for the health of the engines of ALL of my old Lincolns, many of which sat for years before I bought them. It is one of the best kept secrets on retail shelves. You will never see a drop of advertising for it, but it has been around since 1923. The old-timers swore by it, and there was a reason. Any engine with moving parts will love it. Cars, trucks, lawnmowers, chainsaws, you name it. It goes in your gas and in your oil. You will absolutely not believe the difference after about 60 to 90 days of regular treatment. The 351 is a powerhouse anyway, but that’s another good reason to offer it a treat, and MMO is “automotive apple pie”, as I like to say.

Kreol Boi , in its day the sedan version really shook the purest in the Mark community. many prefer the coupe, but the 4-door will probably become the rare most sought after. Personally I like them both 🤩. Thanks for tuning in to my channel, please come again 👍

Run non ethanol gas only. You may want to reglue the turn signal lens before they fall out. You should have gotten dusl exhaust.

Very nice car! I love that you have the electronic instrument display, my favorite feature. I did not notice if you have the keyless entry system and the auto-lamp. I used to own a 1977, Lincoln Mark 5, also having the same problem with the head light covers staying open. I hope to find an early 80's Lincoln, hopefully a 1980-1981 Lincoln Town Coupe', a two door version of the Town Car.

it’s amazing such technology was featured back in the early 80’s. the development had to be planned at some point in the 70’s. back in those days teams were assembled almost a decade ahead to create completely new platforms like the futuristic Ford Taurus. Believe it or not the first recognizable scratch/clay model was rendered in 1982. That’s pretty awesome you used to own a Mark V, I’m sure you miss it. The panther platform proved to be the best / iconic riding experience of all modern Lincoln (the signature float). The Town Coupe’ is super rare, i wish you much success securing that one. thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Please check out my other videos by clicking on my channel.

Hey buddy. I have located a Lincoln Continental Mark VI Bill Blass Edition. I'm probably going to see it next week. I'm wondering if you have any resources on how to refurbish the canvas coach top on those cars. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

SHUGAH CAINE , that’s fantastic news on your find. I’d imagine if you watch current RU-vid videos on car restoration (specifically ragtops/etc...) they will list their sources in the description. Maybe you’ll find someone local, or even look on Instagram. I’m sure some shop is advertising job they have done with contact info. I wish I had a company to quickly recommend to you, but I’d be googling and on classic car forms. Much success and I hope your car will be everything and more!

Mix Nutz N Boltz , close but with determination we got it running 😁. yes, it’s kinda a techie classic. Just old enough to be a classic, but modern enough to be glitchy.

where did you find repair manual for this car i have a 1983 i want to restore
@xrmerkur
@xrmerkur 4 года назад
grap3ap3 , believe it or not a little over two years ago I purchased the manual on eBay. It has been helpful and pretty straightforward to follow. Thankfully these cars are on the heavily supported panther platform, therefore the crown-vic is a fantastic reference too. much success on finding your shop manual. We Mark VI fans need to keep these rare vehicles on the road. Thanks for visiting my channel and commenting.
