Mike and Terry DeBray are a happily married couple whose lives change when the young daughter that Tony fathered out of wedlock suddenly appears and comes into their lives. Linda Lavin, Tracey Gold, and Tony Lo Bianco star.
Tracey Gold was phenomenal at such a young age. Such great acting from everyone, especially Tracey and Linda. Just shows how one action, one choice, one moment, can affect so many lives.
I absolutely LOVED that show! Watched it ALL the time growing up & since watched it on Logo TV, all the re-runs! Fun fact ... the one who plays her mom in this movie ( from Everybody loves Raymond) was also her mother in Alice!! Who remembers that ?? I'm 47yrs old & absolutely LOVE all the tv shows back then . They certainly don't make them like that anymore . I absolutely LOVE Linda . Seriously one of my favorite actresses of ALL TIME ❤
I haven't seen this since I was 12 years old. Wow ...Linda reminds me of my mom. My mom loved to watch Alice when I was little. They looked alike and this movie brings back memories. My mom's 79 this year and I wish we both could go back in time. Time flew by.
Very good movie it proves there is power in love and forgiveness all the good years they had together they took vows and they were in love. There should always be enough room in our hearts for others in need . This little girl lost her mother. I would have taken her with great love. 💕 💕🙏
I love the movies from when I was a kid. The movies were so well scripted and the actors were incredible. I love the clothing styles and modesty I love that people were well spoken and kind. The actors could be so likable and lovable
This was an excellent movie. Touching and well written. They simply don't make movies like this anymore. I long for the Lifetime movies made in the 80s. I was moved to tears. Thank you.
I truly hope Linda Lavin knows how much she is appreciated as an actress. I thoroughly have enjoyed her countless movies and shows throughout the years. She is among the best!

@@LadyDiVintage1953 I know. This is one reason why I think it was brave of her to make the movie. Some anorexics have problems even discussing food or when people watch them eat. She did a fantastic job. I think when she did "Growing Pains," her character, Carol, also had an eating disorder. Of course, it only happened over one episode.
That little girl is no joke...stepmom is very patient and caring..and is doing her best..but being a stepmom is being patient..and take 1 day at a time.. speaking from experience
What a movie! I feel for the wife. To find out your husband had another kid around the time you were trying and now he's expecting you to help raise her, knowing you will never have your own. That's heartbreaking and he's a dang jerk. And for the kid, to lose your mom and finally meet your dad and wondering if his wife will ever accept you, but then not wanting her to be your mom because you had one.
The little girl was a nightmare and the husband should've been a tad harder on her about the way she treated his wife. That child was not in pain, she is mental disturbed.
The cat was fabulous, but I think he was mildly sedated in the scene where Tracy had to pick him up. Watch his body, especially the arms, cats only move like that on sedatives. I’m a cat lover, but, imo it’s not a problem to do this. I know many would disagree, but truly it’s safe for a healthy animal.
Such a wonderful movie, taking in a child that is going through so much pain of losing her mother, they are trying so hard to do the right thing, thank you for the upload
this was a lovely movie. Linda Lavin is a great actress. The child was great too! v well done, yes they can be like this....v complicated and yet simple
This is so good! I love how expressive movies were back in the seventies and eighties, and very heartfelt. I love the straight to the point, yet so honest and cool. Thank you, for sharing this. Women really were expressing themselves so much better then, and I appreciate the honesty so much, it is in a way empowering all over again.
It's necessary and good to express ourselves, but communication is even more important. If expression isn't allowing communication it's wrong. Whenever our square picture of the (our) world is altered, we will find out parts of us we didn't know we had. Love is the alley, not the enemy, we need to be brave to face our weaknesses, our inadequacy and even our wickedness.
The actors spent time working on their craft back then. Now they dedicate downtime to Instagram and Twitter. The quality difference is startling. I’ve never seen these old movies, but you can see why everyone agrees movies were better back then
Love love Linda ! Loved her in Alice & actually In ANYTHING she has played in. She's so mulit-talented ❤ also fun fact... the actress that plays her mom in here ( from everybody loves Raymond) also played her mom in Alice ❤ I'm a 47yr old lady that absolutely LOVES all the sitcoms from the late 70's thru to the 80s . I particularly am a HUGE fan of Linda's ❤
I cried with the betrayal the wife went through, but rooted for them with their open dialogues and no one getting physically angry. The girl played a great part as a tormented soul. Thank you for this movie.
Oh I miss these days. Linda Lavin was very popular in these days! She looks absolutely beautiful in this movie! She's awesome! I miss the days of good TV. Today, not so much even with all the different channels they have. I wish I could close my eyes and when I wake up I could be in 1983. It's November 9th, 2020 and the way of the world is really disgusting. I just miss the All American attitude of back then. I hope things work out!
It is really nice to see the comments and the support that Linda Lavin and Tracey Gold are receiving from the audience. Thanks for not being jerks and ripping them apart.
Tracey Gold was great in this movie, I felt so sorry for her it's hard for a child to loose their mother. I hated watching her be so mean to his wife who really handled things well and tried so hard to build a relationship with her. I don't think many women would embrace a child conceived through infidelity that way good movie.
It's almost impossible to know how to deal with such situations if we have never been near them. Children need understanding, patience, love. It's very hard for any adult to deal with their own pain and love the infant (s) (or teen) at the same time. To listen to a loving adult who is objective may be of great help.
I'm more of a shoot-em-up movie kind of guy, but this one kept me on it until the end. When the cat was found near the end, then you knew things were going to be okay, and, fittingly, you had the cat have the last word (purr.)
This movie should be shown today, all to often children fall through the cracks because one person thinks the other won't accept or understand. I say honesty is the best policy, I know I would accept a child whether or not I understand the circumstances, but hey, shit happens and it's never a child's fault.
We all have pasts and sometimes our pasts come back to haunt us. His wife longed for a child and here’s a child in need of a loving home. Our hearts have the capacity to love beyond our perceived limitations. When we find love outside our comfort zone and can provide love that we never intended then I think, even given the circumstances, everybody wins.
Second movie I'm watching after watching one with Linda L and Christy Mc Nichols... it was so good. I felt the end of the movie let down and put this one on. I can't get enough of watching how life used to be. Guess I'll get to the present after this one. Probably bake and listen to old music. 😁
Yes, Lil Winged, baking here too and I find solace (believe it or not) in watching commercials from the 70s and 80s---especially the holiday ones and of course the hallmark and at&t ones make me cry! I am thankful for RU-vid for these things as well as old movies and old music to daydream to while the world outside implodes I can dream of a better time....thank God there is a better time to come!
This movie is so unreal.. its like really mature people actually listening to each other and understanding and talking and doing. This is like a picture perfect reaction and understanding between people. This is just a movie. 🤷
No it's real life not some women could make the same choice and some couldn't.. This movie was realistically Acted by everyone and very well Directed by Linda Lavin..
All the same problems though, the more things change the more they stay the same! Im trying to cheer you up but I feel old too! Still I feel safe and home when I watch!
Great movie but it’s so difficult for the young girl and her new mother. Such hurt and pain takes much LOVE 💕❤️ and compassion to cope and go on. Prayers to all of those who have walked in their shoes.
I thought I saw all the 70s movies LOL I’ve never seen some of the movies you made for some reason. I really like this one Tracy gold was a really good actress when she was little
"That's the difference between someone who's in pain and someone who is bad." - "I don't want you to be hurt like this, you mean too much to me." Sometimes love does it, sometimes we need to hand it over to life. A faithful servant, loving friends, truth and commitment... beautiful.
