An amazing performance! Linda's flawless, powerhouse vocals and the stellar, talented members of the band (guitarist Waddy Wachtel...the late drummer Michael Botts...the late bass player Kenny Edwards and the late great guitarist Andrew Gold) only come along once in a million years, especially performing live like this. I ❤️ 🎸 Linda looks so lovely and is sure rockin' those skintight pants! Bet she had more than one male drooling while watching this...hehehe
What has always impressed me about Linda is her unselfishness - you can see it in the way she shares the stage with her band as equals. Way back in the day, when Glen Frey and Don Henley wanted to form their own band, she helped them recruit Meisner and Leadon to form the Eagles. How many singers today would actually go out of their way to help their best band members go off on their own? Class all the way.
Stationed in Germany during this time. Several friends went to this concert. I pretty sure that the Eagles were along for the ride. Linda can sing the phone book and turn it into gold back in those days.
WoW !!! Remember when singers could sing and bands could play live and sound this good. I would fall over if I went to a live show and heard sounds like this today.
Whatever Linda and the band had going on at this Offenbach, Germany show is just divine. Glad to see, hear and confirm that what I saw live in 1976 as a teenager really was that special. Great rocker. Great torch singer. Heart Pumper for sure.
Perfection! In those days going to a concert was about the music. Now it's about backup dancers and huge sets, the voices and instruments are secondary.
Wow...remember when singers looked like they grabbed something out of their own closet, brushed their own hair, and ate a full meal once in a while? And actually sang?! Let's hope everything has a way of making it's way back around again..like authenticity.
I so like your comment, Brett, as it is what I feel. I do sometimes feel like a real reactionary as I do find it difficult to like modern divas but I think you have put your finger on the problem. There is no question there is talent in every generation but the whole ethos, presentation, whatever you want to call it is so different now. Linda did sing from the heart with not a scrap of vanity. Today's singers seem all vanity and, yes, robotic, and, sadly, proud of being "brands".
LOVE THIS ....I THINK THAT LINDA RONSTADT HAS/HAD ONE OF THE STRONGEST FEMALE VOICES IN ROCK OR COUNTRY !! I ALSO ENJOYED THE INSTRUMENTAL SECTION .... IT WAS A NICE SURPRISE :)
The late, great multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter in his own right, Andrew Gold. He was only 25 there. Often it was only he and Linda in the studio laying down the basic tracks for her most popular country-rock LPs. Then they'd bring in the rest of the "hired guns" to round out the sound. He literally could pick up anything and play it well, from keyboards to drums; but couldn't read a note. It's a gift; no other way to put it.
Man, this was when you didn't have to overpower everything with "mega" amplification! Band sounds so clear, and to say nothing of Linda's stellar vocal abilities WoW! ;>) BTW, had this on 8 track originally LOL!
anyone else see andrew gold??? on a side note, im a huge fan of linda and i now realize why i also love martina mcbride. put them on stage together and i bet they could sing each others songs and sound just the same
For sure, Andrew Gold plays an awesome strat. Waddys good on slide, but Andrew is better guitar player. I don't think they like each other though, Gold turns his back to waddy.
+green323turbo Gold was talented, but known to be a bit of an oddball. Some of it could have been jealousy -- he had been Linda's primary guitarist, and then along comes Waddy just as her fame starts to skyrocket and she is playing larger venues.
David S. , why you mention a musicians personality .. wtf ?? Whats that got to do with anything .. well he was with Linda for a long time and they did great work together, so wtf are you talking about
It isn't that the new divas have no talent or can't sing impressively. It's just that we don't know when they're singing impressively or being electronically made over, or simply tricking us. Or maybe they sing too impressively- completely without heart, all skill, over the top in ability, completely vain, like a voice machine, somehow inhuman. They're showing off. Linda is singing, singing fantastically, and it's completely natural. Performers these days are generated products, not artists.
Listen to one of her interviews she loves utube. So do I so I can watch what I missed in her career. Mat was in the US. So did not get to see her as much.
Great stuff. If you like this you'll like the DVD "Johnny Cash - A Concert Behind Prison Walls (1976)". There's more than one "Behind Prison Walls" DVD so be careful to get the one with Linda Ronstadt. She sings 5 numbers, sounding (and looking) great.
O M G ! Another tragedy hits the music world ! Surely, someone, somewhere,is making a breakthrough with a cure ! Scientists, microbiologists, researchers, we need you now!!! Beautiful Linda. Will miss you! Stay sweet! Malcolm O'Brien
markflem BITCH STEVY NIX NEVER SANG A DAMN DAY IN HER ENTIRE DAMN LIFE. SHE WAS AND STILL IS ONE OF THE WORST JOKES OF ALL DAMN TIME AND SHE WAS AS FAR FROM GOOD LOOKING (OR FROM MY PERSPECTIVE SINCE I AM FEMALE AND WOULD FEEL WEIRD CALLING A FEMALE HOT OR GOOD LOOKING I'LL SAY GORGEOUS) SHE WAS AND STILL IS AS FAR FROM GORGEOUS AS YOU CAN GET
Always loved Andrew's playing ! Would also like to hear what Roy Buchanan would have done with the extra lead break at the end....But, of course that's me......
It looks like Waddy Wachel in the backgound playing the Paul. However the distictive Harrisonesque guitar solo that he is credited with in the studio version seems to be played by the vocalist/guitarist up front.Any info?
Kc5cxu- Linda is half Mexican and half German with true authentic South-western roots from Arizona and New Mexico. Many people from these states have that mixture in them. She's awesome!
Hot. Hot. Hot. And damn straight, she needs to be in the RRHOF, along with Heart...those girls knocked down the doors for female leads in rock and roll in the 70's!!
