Doesn't matter what kind of music you listen to. EVERYBODY loves Linda Ronstadt. ♥️ Same goes for Karen Carpenter. When l made this statement, l wasn't trying to make people fight with each other. I was born in 1960. We heard a little of everything on a.m. radio & t.v. shows. I love my Country Music(not todays). My favorite is Donna Fargo. I think Patsy Cline is the greatest. Also love Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Lynn Anderson & many others. I also liked L R, K C plus Judy Garland, Doris Day, Debbie Reynolds, even Glenn Miller & many others. Why do we have to make it a contest of who we like or hate who we don't like as a singers? I wasn't a fan of Janis Joplin, but l don't hate her. We all have our favorites. Let's all be pleasant to each other. A lot of us grew up with great music. On the radio, you would hear a Carpenter song, Bob Dylan, "blowing in the wind," & Jeanne C Riley, "Harper Valley P.T.A." When l found a country radio station l switched to f.m. & stayed there. We all have different tastes. So have a BLESSED DAY & show each other some respect laced with kindness.☺️😉

I agree, and I would add Dolly Parton to that list. When Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris formed a trio, the music they made was heavenly. See for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2P6vVN200vg.html

She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Blue Bayou", "Desperado", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Linda also collaborated with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris on a few "Trio" albums.

@@roxannehale1386 Linda was part of the Stone Ponies. After the Ponies broke up, she went on her 1st solo tour and she hired Don Henley as her touring band's drummer and J.D. Souther asked her to hire his writing partner, Glen Frey. During the tour, Henley and Frey roomed together and started writing songs together during their down times. Later they needed a place to practice and work out the songs and Linda invited them to use her place. So Linda got a first look at the Eagles entire 1st album as Henley and Fry rehearsed at her house.

@@BC-ui9yt I've heard her talk 'music', and she seems to be one of those who absorbs everything they hear from around them. her childhood was big on music, but don't think she went to any notable school of music, she just actively absorbed music and theory like a sponge. Quick mind, self taught. Here's a classical musician's review of her singing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4Tmluvy-5OM.html What she DOESn't say is that I'll bet this arrangement is heavily influenced by Linda herself. The way the arrangement is very very clever, but stays off her notes. Listen to the sensitivity she brings to the lyrics, the many ways she can 'ornament' a word, syllable or even a solitary vowel. She can take a single vowel and morph it into an ever changing sound that captivates your ear. That's her. a skill seldom self taught. One gift that Linda gives to us is not 'studied', it is the natural harmonics in her voice. All voices have harmonics or we'd all sound like tuning forks. Her harmonics are clear as a bell which aids in her delivery. Also, she manages the dynamics of her voice like the author of a play - build to a crescendo, let us down, and build again to a higher crescendo, and resolve at the end better than 99% of all other singers. Could go on, but I'm sure you see or even already saw what I heard.

She was a 1970's and to the present, ICON. Dude, go binge watch her videos. Lots of videos out there-lots of duets. My personal favorite of hers is Blue Bayou. She also did some great collabs with Dolly Parton and EmmyLou Harris-their harmonies will make you weep. These ladies were singing decades before auto tune was even invented. She is no doubt one of the very best female vocalists ever...in any genre. And Linda could sing anything. She was powerful, delicate, fun, intimate, feisty....and couldn't be simply boxed in to one kind of music. When she did covers, it was like she uncovered them for the listener to hear in a new and beautiful way -- much like Angelina Jordan today. You really should explore more Linda. She is my absolute favorite from the 70s....and every guy wanted her. As Willie Nelson said about her, there are 2 kinds of men in the world " those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her".

SUCH AN EARLY PERFORMANCE! You found the bare, unpolished baby Linda!! This performance reminds me of an important lesson I’m actually glad I achieved to learn. “Everything has it’s time”. My Auntie Angie told me so in a way that made me believe her and I’ll never forget hearing her say it. Linda Ronstadt and my Auntie Angie have a lot in common. Freakishly talented, similar sentimentality and intelligence and sense of integrity, beautiful, and the same age. And each of their arts were like water or air. I swear I think my aunt might have actually bled paint. Linda probably sang in her sleep. • Linda can’t sing anymore • her vocal chords no longer function for that • • My Auntie Angie is a very accomplished, multi specialty artist but will never be able to even hold a paintbrush again • Linda Ronstadt! Will never sing again. But I’ve seen her say she has found peace with it (I can’t imagine how 🥺. Might as well rip the wings off of a bird.). My aunt was/ IS a very accomplished artist. She was a professor at an international college. Her work has even been published, hard cover! But what I see when I think of her is that she ALWAYS had clay or paint on her face and pencil lead smeared on all her fingertips, messy hair, and twinkles in her eyes. I cannot imagine her any other way. I went to visit my Auntie and all of her everything art was just gone. I asked her if she turned their barn into a shop. She said no. She is no longer physically capable of what was almost like oxygen to her since birth and almost as involuntary as a river flowing CAME TO AN END. And she had to learn how to live with that. I started to cry and said, but there’s no way, what are you going to do? You can’t stop, please. She looked at my eyes and said “Everything has it’s time.” and she was okay with it. Linda Ronstadt’s music was a force and gift that had never been seen and will never ever be replicated.

Love Has No Pride is one of hers that comes from her very soul. She started very young- first hit w/ The Stone Ponies-Different Drum. Eagles gave her Desperado when it didn’t really hit for them. This song reminds me of Bonnie Raitts song “ I Can’t Make You Love Me” It’s beautiful!!!

I also, so very much, adore Bonnie. Wish she'd done better, but shackled and stayed loyal, early on by an abusive husband (rqually talented), ( find Rita Coolidge video discussions about Bonnie and Delany, and later Leon Russll, who collaborated on one of the greatest songs ever, Superstar, made popular by the Carpenters, but Bonnie's is best, she sang ut at Leons funeral). But what a voice, OMG. Saw her with Delany as part of a Cream concert, where she fell off the stage, got back up, carried on (as i recall it).

Back around 1974 i was a cop. I had literally worshipped Linda Ronstadt since 1969. Then i got to work backstage security at one of her concerts. Most acts never spoke to us cops who worked security. Linda was different. She actually said hi, smiled, and said thanks. Very classy and sweet.

She also sings in Spanish.. She had a huge-selling album in Mexico.. She was allowed to sing with a well-known Mariachi band. This is a great honor in Mexican music. Mariachi is extremely hard to sing to because of the crazy syncopated rhythm....Linda was also part of a group called ...The Trio.. with Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris.. Really great harmonies on every song on the album.. You will eventually get to Linda's ,,, Blue Bayou..One of her greatest..

She has one of the most powerful voices in music history, along with Rebs McIntire. Both of them required special baffling in a recording studio because their voices could overpower the usual setup. Linda was a great singer in every genre she recorded. I remember the moment I heard her first song “Different Drum” in around 1968, when I was in college. The song and singer instantly grabbed my attention. Great singer. Really good person.
