Thanks for showing this Swede what it looks like, as i had no idea that this place was even a thing, and you were actually right, a "Dala-häst" is indeed just a horse from a place called Dalarna here in Sweden. A direct translation would just be something like "Valley-horse" or maybe more fitting "Dale-horse", because Dalarna or "the dales" are near the mountains of Norway. Most of our stuff are simple and plain, what you see is what you get, we ain't the most complex of people over here.
Thank you so much for explaining the “Dala-hast” that is very good information to know. You learn something new everyday! Simple and plain are the best things in life to me. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video and thank you so much again for your enlightening comment!
vilket svammel det är klart att det heter Dalahäst, och mycket riktigt kommer ursprunget från Dalarna och där sker tillverkningen än idag i en by som heter Nusnäs, och hästarna målas enligt traditionen med ett kurbitsmönster.
it is true that the Dala-Häst is descended from Landskapet Dalarna, the craft still lives on in a small village in Dalarna, called Nusnäs, where they are made by hand to then get a hand-painted motif called Kurbits. the base color of a real Dala-Häst is always Red.
You’re most welcome! Thank you so much for the kindness and hospitality. We will definitely come back and visit again soon. We hope to bring friends and enjoy the atmosphere of Lindsborg!!
@@LukesAdventuresPlusMusic That's great! Come visit us on DalaTown.com if you're interested in seeing our online magazine with all things Lindsborg! :) Cheers!
I'm Swedish, I went to Lindsborg about 10 years ago, I bought what is now one of my favourite coffee mugs from the Hemslöjd! But let me tell you this, that beautiful colourful house is 100% American, I've never seen anything like it on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, certainly not in Sweden...! :) Beautiful none the less!
Yes! I get lots of comments about the house not being Swedish. Thanks for telling me about the coffee mug you bought. I would say the house is a Victorian style house.
Awesome video! Born and raised in Southern California, but the Swedish side of my family is from Lindsborg (emigrated there from Sweden in the 1800's) ... very cool to see some relevant cultural history of my ancestors.
Awesome! Thank you so much for the brief information about your family! I’m also glad that you liked the video that showed some relevant history of your ancestors!
I grew up about a hour from Lindsborg and went there many times as a kid. It’s a nice town. While it was founded by Swedish immigrants, there is a Spanish history to it as well. Lindsborg is the farthest north that they know of that Coronado travelled. There is a hill just northwest of town called Coronado Heights that you can go to and it has that name for a reason. It also has a sort of castle built on top of it. It was built during the depression to give out of work people something to do so they built this one room castle on top of the hill. If you are in Lindsborg again then check it out as well.
@@LukesAdventuresPlusMusic It is. I don’t know if you know it or not but the way that they know that Coronado got there is because a farmer found a sword in his field by there and it was a Conquistador’s sword.
Like your video. Although - that "Swedish style house" at 3:33 is very non-Swedish. Looks like a fantasy ginger bread house. Kind regards/Swedish guy. :)
Thank you so much! However, I have to agree with you. It seems more like a Victorian style home. However, my wife loved the small town of Lindsborg, Kansas! Kind regards to you Sir!
@@LukesAdventuresPlusMusic I can imagine you enjoyed it. Seems like a very nice little town. When I go to the states one day I wanna visit the old swedish areas too. :)
I’m sure there are quite a few Swedish areas around the United States. I’m going to have to explore more into that to discover more of them. Thanks for the idea and I hope you will enjoy your visit when you come.
Went by that house almost everyday in the summer. On my way home or to the pool by the bridge at the edge of town. Also the unofficial "skatepark" known as Bethany College we used to frequent. I'm so old I remember the train tracks by Villa Row. which is now a paved trail. Damn I miss that town! So many memories made.
Well! Thank you so much! I really appreciate your nice comment. I am still learning a lot, and that’s what life is about. But thank you again for the compliment!!
Thank you so much for watching! It was a family day trip from where we live. My wife really wants to visit the real Sweden 🇸🇪 one day. We know this little town doesn’t come close to the real Sweden but we had fun there.
Looks awesome, so peaceful! I kind of doubt you could have those little library cupboards in even a small town in Sweden nowadays, they would be smashed within a week. Nice to see that some places are still civilized =)
Yes, it’s a peaceful little town. Where we live the population is small and the people are still very much traditional Americans which unfortunately is dying out quickly in most of America.
@@LukesAdventuresPlusMusic one can only hope that people start to wake up to whats important in life - the increasingly problematic urban centers and all this modern nuttery just might push some folk in that direction...
I'd love to visit that place and stay at the Bed & Breakfast. Never heard of the town before, which isn't that strange considering how tiny it is. Looks very picturesque though. Thanks for the video.
The house at 3,50 ish. Isnt at all swedish style. It is as american as it can get. I'm thinking of sanfran and the old show "charmed" when i see it. =)
That house is not a Swedish style home. It's a Victorian era house with gingerbread trim, possibly Queen Ann, and a very Western American style. Swedish homes look altogether different from that.
Thank you so much! No, I’m not from Swedish decent. My wife has always been interested in visiting Sweden. Her friend told her about this town so we drove up to visit the town. We enjoyed our visit there.
@@LukesAdventuresPlusMusic Better that way👍 Sweden is being transformed into unrecognizable. Our politicians have voluntarily invited the Trojan horse.
@@LukesAdventuresPlusMusic Sad destiny😱 I lived in New Orleans for a while in the 70's and it was very comfortable. The people there were friendly regardless of race.
