In this video, Lindy Fralin personally demonstrates the new Fralin Split Blade Tele Replacement Pickups. Although these are prototypes, the production model pickups will be identical to these in tone and should be available by early fall. The guitar featured is a custom Telecaster of swamp ash and maple. This demo was recorded using a V.V.T. Lindy Fralin model combo amp, rated at 38w and featuring 1-15" Eminence speaker. The mic used was a Shure SM-57, although the lavalier mic that Lindy is wearing is picking up some of the ambient sound from the room. Please let us know if you have any questions!

I've been using the Split Blade Blues in my 52' RI Tele for the past 8 months and they're hands down the past Tele pickups I've ever used. Great job Lindy.

I think what you are hearing is just the sound of him switching hard and the pickups ringing out a bit. Sounds absolutely beautiful to me. I'm ordering a set next week.

Congrats Lindy! (Maybe I should congratulate all we fans of the split blade). I think this is one of the best things you've come up with. I swear by your Split Blade Strat, your Real 54's, your vintage Tele Bridge and your Noiseless P-90. I'm gonna build my next Tele and wait until you release these before putting pickups in. Very cool! I'm very excited!

These Split blades have the quintessential tele tone! Its the Evolution of tone and no noise.

@tanukibrahma I think it sounds exactly like a tele with better mids, also when he had the volume cranked it didn't get ice picky at high end

I love these pickups! They "feel" like they really grab and hold the note, esp. when bending strings. Expensive, but worth every penny.

I tried one of these on a custom build tele in Portland, sounded great, awesome response. ...thinking of replacing my current bridge pu due to the noise factor BUT don't want to give up the twang, you know....

Hi, I saw this video last december and got curious. => I did put those split blades into my (finally finished!) first project telecaster, linked to a 4-way control using 50s wireing (i.e. the tone pot connected to the output of the vol pot). The sound is simply great and direct plus this setup delivers a broad range of different clean sounds, just by using the guitars knops&switches... I am impressed; those splitt blades make me a lucky man :-)

Planning on pulling the Broadcaster bridge pickup out of my Larrivee Bakersfield. Which output would you suggest as a replacement? 12" radius, btw. 250K Liberator pot. Think the vid sounds great. The OD you used, what was it? Very natural sounding, with just a bit more umph.
@AllenPinchloaf
@AllenPinchloaf 13 лет назад
Hi Lindy How is the output level say compared to Bardens? Sounds like better clarity on the low strings and slighly rounder or darker sound on the high strings.jeez they sound spectacular.What bridge is on that tele?Callaham?

WOW! This is killer! Is this neck the same as the replacement neck on your website? Body too? Also, what electronics do you recommend to use for these pickups? (types of pots and caps) Are you using Callaham parts? Thank you so much for your passion for making wonderfully musical products. All The Best, Sam

I dig these. Which output option is comparable to the Fender N3 Noiseless pickups? I have these in my American Deluxe and I'd like to try some new pickups out without losing or adding too much power.

@FralinPickups - I work with the fine fellows at True Tone in Santa Monica, CA. I'll be bugging them to get a shipment as soon as possible. Or I just might have to call you in 5 weeks to order directly. I'll also be calling you w questions about your Tele neck. (like is it possible to custom order a lefty?) and a question about the way the fellow from "Rocketeer Studio" combined two split blades in series for a HB sound. Again, fantastic news for we tele players who get grief from engineers!

Hey Lindy ....thinking of doing a 3 pup Nashville project with split blades.....Neck and Bridge would be split blade tele blues specials ....middle pos would be middle strat split blade blues special ...would that work in your mind?? good combination or would you have a more effective idea??

Hi Lindy, Just wanted to know how close these pickups sound to say vintage tele pickups, the kind you would get in a usa std tele ?, I know they sound close on here, but in person they will be more noticable, are they close ?, I want the vintage sound, but without the hum, I had a strat plus with the gold lace censors, they sounded great with no hum, but they just did not quite sound wright compaird to my std strat pickups

You don't mention in your demo or the text below whether these prototypes are closest to your current classic, blues, or high output versions. It might also be helpful to know what pots are in the guitar you used: 500k or 250k.

Great pickups.Whats your favorite wind of these Lindy?will they work with a combination radius 9 1/2 to 14 inch as you get higher up the neck.neck pickup seems to balance neck with the bridge
@lindyfralin3868
@lindyfralin3868 8 лет назад
+Pinch loaf I use the Vintage output in all of my guitars but one and that Strat has two Vintages and a High Output Bridge. I think the Vintage is plenty loud and I let the amp and pedals get the distortion. It is really the bridge saddles that determine which radius will work the best and for yours I think the flattest (FR).

Hi Lindy what brand is that body..what weight do you look for in a body? Is that the neck you sell?

I bought these pick ups a few months ago. The bridge pickup is golden! I love it! But I had problems with the neck pickup. The G string volume would drop out when I bent the string and come back up when the string was "un-bent." I ended up removing the neck pickup. I just ran across this post and thought I'd ask if anyone knows if I can do anyting to help with my problem.

Jacob, I also have an ash body AmDlx with the N3 pickups. The bridge is awesome but the neck pickup is just too thin and not enough output. I just ordered the Blues split blade, so I hope it's not too dark! Did you ever end up replacing yours in your Tele?

The Tele sounds very compressed in this video. Is it natural compression from the amp or pedal board? Or is that how the pickups sound?

"I dont know....I heard what sounded like a lot of hum when overdriven...and u were quick to grab the volume when u were finished." There was little to no hum there. I don't know what you thought you were hearing. Or maybe you are here shilling for a competitor?
@paullebon323
@paullebon323 10 лет назад
Of course they are hotter, but that isn't the point. Hotter for hotter's sake only appeals to little metal-tards. They are silent hum-cancelling pickups that sound like high-end single coil Tele pups... but with more grunt on tap if you want it.
