Tutorial Showing The Four Lines Of Take Down Defense For Beginners. The four lines of defense are your takedown defense in wrestling. Demonstration is in steps. Subscribe for more wrestling technique videos, many more coming soon!
Simple demonstration of the four lines of defense in folkstyle and freestyle wrestling: 1. head, 2. hands, 3. forearms, 4. hips. This will all come from having a good wrestling stance and being in proper position.
Your head level must match his, or your opponent is past one line of defense. Many people only use their sprawl when defending a takedown from neutral. You have three lines of defense to defend their shot before you have to sprawl.
This video is good for people who are new to wrestling and looking for instruction, for people just beginning or learning wrestling, or for anyone who wants to improve their wrestling basics or fundamentals.

Great videos Bruce. My kids are 7 and 11 years old and are into BJJ competitively and I have been trying express to them the importance of improving their wrestling base to bring their overall game up. Your videos are the perfect tool for showing them fundamental techniques. Thanks posting these.

That is so cool. We just did takedowns for jiujitsu the other day and it felt rudimentary. Having never been exposed the sport of wrestling all of this is very interesting to learn!

Thanks for this I trained more than a year with coaches with the biggest egos and never heard about these “lines of defense” that look very effective for defense. So frustrated with these coaches, they claim us as family members but don’t act like it and just say it’s a business whenever I feel a certain type of way. Ridiculous. I’ll be checking out your other vids

@eric Dubwaaa I think in MMA you need to adjust to striking. In wrestling you don't have to be careful for punches and kicks.

Question. I sometimes go to the park where this huge pile of woodchips are. And I had a free for all four kids on top of it. Where we keep trying to push each other off. I won the ffa by using a trick. Whenever they came at me I would grab the wrists push em to the right and either shoulder bash or let go and push em. Can anyone tell me any other good techniques

Still under lockdown (no gyms open, gatherings limited, etc.), I'd like to know if you guys could make solo drills videos for beginners. I have access to outdoor fitness parks and use them to kind of reproduce the training I usually do in a gym.

I've never done wrestling before...but I want to. I just have a question after watching this video. Is there any reason why a person wouldn't want to just score after sprawling? I probably sound stupid, but I'd really like to know anyway. So anybody, please?
