@@nuke2625 no he didn't, I saw a documentary about their collaboration and Mike and Jay z did all the rehearsals together chester was in the background the whole time shy and reserved, it was a while ago wish I could remember the name of the doc to confirm what I'm saying but pretty sure it's accurate.
The entire collaboration was Mike's idea as he was a big fan of JayZ and vice versa. Mike was the one who mashed up the songs and led most of the production
Everyone's talking bout how Jay is amazed to hear Chester's screams. But no one's talking about Mike can spit bars like Jay and making it sound just like a studio record.
I had always listened to this live version and at some point wanted to add the song to a playlist which is when I heard the studio version, which just sounds stale. They all sounds so much better and more animated live!
I know I’m super late. But Linkin Park and Jay Z have to be some of the best live performers to ever exist. They all sound so good. Rip Chester- you’ll never be forgotten.
Definitely 2 of the best. BUT....in Jay-Z's case he was very intimidated by DMX's performance when they were on tour together. DMX would have the whole arena chanting his songs going wild one minute, then praying the next minute, then he would break into a full cry and the whole arena would be crying with him. DMX would put on these INCREDIBLE shows, and Jay-Z said he would think to himself how the hell is he supposed to follow that!!! LOL.
well said ...... no words needed to see his respect and admiration...also the fact he chose that career with those massive acid digestive issues is unreal..... he was in severe pain many times performi9ng ..... i dont think alot of people would have kept performing as long as he did...
@@56kwith200ping exactly. That wasn’t the first time he heard Chester’s voice. To believe so would implicate J as not doing his homework and not appreciating what LP has to offer. Why do people think he did this collab?? The same goes for LP. They all, already know. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hybrid Theory is still the ONLY album in my 38 years on this planet, which I loved EVERY damn song. R.I.P Chester. Thank you for making my youth great!!
georkost for realzz..you know rest of The band did all this mainly just to make Mike happy... he was beyond on cloud 9...so f’n cool...soooo sad to watch him go through the pain of losing his very best friend ...some people can’t even find a fraction of friendship that the two of them had..breaks my heart to look back on all these old shows and how happy they all were...just blows my mind Chester would leave all these guys behind...I mean shit Mike put EVERYTHING he had/was and ultimately DEFINED him into that band...always will be a mystery if that at all went through Chesters mind up until the point of no return , hence what these guys will be left to do once I’m Gone...🤔💔🎶🙏🏻
Jay-Z's reaction at the end is everything you need to know about this entire collab. Even HE'S impressed, and he's one of the most influential rappers of all time.
People don't realize the importance of this album. It helped reconcile rap and rock fans. To create bridges, to bring together different universes to keep the best of rap and rock. This album is a turning point for culture, putting an end to the war of genres.
@@mikaelaghababyan730 i appreciate ches all the same, that lincoln park duo x jay z is legendary only reason i say that is because they havent reunited in a long time and its not the same with out chester long live his soul
Jay Z and Mike doing their stuff for about 4 mins, and when Chester hit it. I'm pretty sure he was like "Let me show you Jay Z what I got". That face of Jay Z at the end is so priceless though. lol
Mike put this crazy mash up together…GENIUS!!! I wish I would have been at this moment in time that no one could have understood the monumental implications it would have on the future of music. EPIC.
“Given Up” is so prophetic. It hits really, really fkn hard as a huge fan of Chester & the rest of LP. I credit thr music for giving me the strength to stay alive. I’ll forever miss Chester’s raw heart, soul, emotion & transparently honest lyrics about his own struggles. I wish I could thank him for helping me with my own sht.
I'd just like to point out that this was a secret show, Linkin Park sent out a survey to see what else their fans listened to. Those who responded with Jay Z and similar artists were sent an invitation. Which means that nobody in that crowd had a fucking clue what they were about to witness...
This whole album was part of a show from MTV where they would put two artists from different genres together to make a collab album, this was their first try, they cancelled the show after this because they knew this would never be topped
Man, that part when Jay says the "Back through the system with the riff raff again" line then LP just goes off wailing on their instruments playing that crazy beat and the crowd just going buck wild is bone chilling to me even today. Of course Chester finishing it off is even more special these days now that he's no longer with us. What a time...
If music like this made a comeback, it would absolutely decimate the modern BS people call "music" today. RIP Chester. Artists are trying to keep rock alive.
Rock had a Loooooong run, and now it's on its deathbed. That's how it is. Just like classical music when it was popular music of its day centuries ago.
I love this collaboration, but it just wouldn't music today is not BS. It's just not your generation anymore. The generation before this was calling music like Jay Z and linkin Park trash and not real "music"
your IQ level is 150% lower than ALL 2016 rap songs combined. There are MANY great rappers and rap songs, and Jay-Z is not one of them. Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, etc. are examples of good rappers that make good rap songs, better than ALL of Collision Course. Now don't get me wrong, I am a fan of LP and Jay-Z is not that bad. But this and numb/encore were the only good ones.
Yeah but age could impact what they found first and therefore find more impressive, aerosmith and run dmc is more radio friendly then badass like this though
It has been like three years since I found it (Kinda weird 'cause I'm listening to Linkin Park since 2006) and still listening to it few times almost every day
Yahh, He is one of the best musicians ever, he can rap, he can sing, he plays piano, he plays guitars, he makes songs, he writes lyrics, he makes beats and parts, IN ONE WORD - HE IS THE GOAT IN MUSIC
Jesus fucking Christ this is fucking amazing. the orginal 99 problems was amazing but this is even better absolutely amazing combination. This needs to become a new type of music to mix hiphop with rock
Everytime i hear linkin park it takes Me Back To being a teen sitting playing Tekken & Tony Hawk games while listening to them & lots others bands & artist's like: Eminem, Dr Dre, NWA, 2pac, Cypress Hill, D12, Beasty Boys, RATM, Green Day, Blink 182, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Korn; Sum 41, Deftones, QOTSA, Soulfly, SOAD, Nirvana, RHCP, Metallica,
I Still listen to them all now I mostly prever groups & artist's older stuff, I even still play SEGA & Nintendo games on my phone from 20-25 years ago the 90's were awesome & couldn't have asked for a better time to born
Never seen this before but damn. The energy that everyone is sharing whether it be the crowd or the artists is insane. Jay z and mike vibin through the traffic stop part is hilarious. And the way Chester goes in at the end is just great. Would have been awesome to witness this before
i love how everyone in linkin park looks all casual and happy like this is just what we do everyday and jayz has this god damn im impressed look on his face the whole time
Chester REST IN PEACE BROTHER....missed so much by all music fans.....rap..rock...jazz...classical..opera....you are a hero to all of us sir. Much love
I eagerly waited 4 and a half minutes for Chester. And it was worth it. This man was easily one of the best vocalists I ever heard. I miss you man. I hope you're at peace.
+Anderson Mora was* bro, it's sad to say but the majority of his live screams nowadays are like a fart in an elevator. I love the guy too, I've followed them since Hybrid Theory but it's the sad damn truth :-|
