I love the way she always smiles when she gets crowd reaction, then can change character a second later. Really shows her confidence and ability to live in the moment in her dance.
@@lamondae same, she smiles and gets serious and dances like that wiggling thing I forgot its name and I still can't remember it but yeah it reminds me of that, the thing j hope has behind him in idol when its his rap verse
2:45 Tyrone Proctor aka the Father of waacking (one of the original founder of this genre in the 70's) bringing her the shirt is priceless. Lip J is really worldclass and she got her recognitions from the waacking master itself ❣ You really can tell she's in a different league 'cause she sat here as a co-judge alongside Tyrone and Princess Lockeroo aka the "Queen of waacking" who was the first and favorite student of Tyrone in 2004. Not just your typical Korean or Asian level.
This how I and we did it in mid 80s to late 80s 'East L.A.' (California, USA) 80s hardcore disco parties. All East L.A. DJs played it All the fevre's came out. Especially with 'Simple Mind's - I Travel jam. There more specific 80s disco jams to do these great moves by these 'Great Waaking dancers' Great to see👍
There are so many great dancers in WAACKING But LIPJ’s performance and style are very unique Her body's stability is very, very good And every time Judge show you can see that she is challenging different goals. LIPJ's performance is very elegant and touching.
Exactly my thoughts! Her arms and angles are always in perfect places even when she's doing complex and faster waacking. Also she is not just showing arm waacking, her entire body is literally a performance by itself. If you focus a little more, there's actually a series of story she's telling through those intricate movements rather than just trying to impress like other waackers do. Literally a Queen 🙌🏻
And literally after 2 months of watching waacking battles, observing Lip J and learning waacking myself (dance and history), that "series of story" I was referring to lies deeper to Lip J's understanding of the music that's why it looks like she is telling a story through dance. No, she is not just waacking randomly to the beat and instruments 'cause if that's the case then all her judge performances will look the same. She's also catching the "texture" of the sound if that makes sense and assign appropriate movements to it. Like for instance when she's hitting the violin, she chooses a more delicate movement to throw her hands rather than come in strong. I'm very surprised she actually value these details consistently across all her performances and battles that's why she attacks differently depending on the song. The best waacker for me. No debate.
@@ZeePark21 From my understanding, Lip J studied under/was close to Princess Lockeroo. Princess Lockeroo was the first - and favorite - student of Tyrone Proctor, the father of waacking. They both heavily value knowing and truly expressing the music, which is incredible to watch and keeps the essence behind the dance style. Lip J does not rely on dancing to impress, rather dancing to express. That is what makes her performances so enchanting. It's more than her stage presence and the preformance, it's her deep understanding, attention to detail, and expression behind it all while having a distinct style and incredible form. I could talk for days about it all, truly. Lip J was my push to understand the music, the history, and the artistry behind waacking. It's now one of my favorite styles and one I plan to dive deeper into doing myself.
Her aura literally speaks QUEEN. Aside from her postures and insane skills, she made those boys in the back look like little boys looking at a grown and respected woman. I can't even walk pass any group of guys without flinching lol
My daily motivation video. Look at how majestic this is. Lip J dancing with a big JUDGE SHOW written behind her back. And everyone behind her are TOP male dancers. Then afterwards Tyrone himself put her shirt in her back, indicating his approval and proudness. ❤ ❤ ❤
For the first time i saw lip J I'm so amazed with her choreo, that's why i fell in love with Waacking and her dance charisma as well as her very very great body control!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@hyukaexplosion Lip J CAN do his style tho. Taeyong is not a professional dancer and his style (if any) is not yet fully developed. By "style", I'm referring to specific REAL dances like popping, locking, waacking, krump, dancehall, etc. Lip J has had good grasp and understatnding in most of these styles especially the foundational concepts since part of being a professional dancer is taking various classes that's out of your style and Lip J has met so many dancers in different fields and races to learn from. Taeyong is a good CHOREOGRAPHED dancer, but I doubt if he has any style. There are only few idol dancers who has actual style like Jay Park (breakdance) and Jhope (popping). Most can fake it because of their excellent way of learning choreography.
I think the focus of swf was demonstrating that many korean woman dancers are extraordinary, and the best way to do it was indeed through a friendly competition instead of an agressive and technical competition. The purpose was def not to decide the best dancer, so I do not see anything wrong with the judges. Plus, known faces helped to bring more attention to the show, helping even more to fullfill the purpose of bringing attention to the dancers. I'm not a fan of any of those, but I'm certain that BoA, Taeyeong and Kang Daniel love dance and they brightened the program without taking out the attention from the dancers.
👍❤, Im suing. This how I and we did it in East L.A. (California, USA) from early 80s to late 80s hardcore disco parties and clubs, before House came in. All East L.A. DJs played it All the fevre's (Tony Manero) came out. Unfortunately we did not have video (lucky) to Don Quixote's Olympic Blvd, Casa Camino Real (DTLA) and HS dance parties by the promoters. This was my High (dancing like this) when going out - these moves to our great music. 'Simple Mind's - I Travel' jam & 'Visage - Moon Over Moscow' (gave away Top Secret fact) were the primary jams and signal to strut your shit. Guys, girls and the gays. There's more specific 80s disco jams to do these great moves for these 'Great Waaking dancers' Great to see👍❤. This girl in this clip 'nailed it!' her moves felt that song's rhythm and moves. Salud!
Im so obsessed w her there’s something special on her that i can’t describe it!! The way She moves.. her facial expression..btw i just know her bcs Women Street fighter show..
She is respected in the waacking community all around the world. You don't do waacking battles without hearing the name Lip J, and she was once mentioned in New York Times article on the "History of waacking." In this particular event, she was actually a co-judge alongside Tyrone Proctor and Princess Lockeroo. Tyrone is known as the Father of waacking (the last original waacker/Soul Train dancer from the 70's who invented this genre), while Lockeroo is known as the "Queen of waacking" of 21st century and the first and favorite student of Tyrone in 2004. Lip J was sitting WITH them in the judge panel and that already speaks volume. Definitely not just your typical Korean or Asian level of waacking, she's just so humble and never speak about these things especially now with her growing fame.
