In this lesson, you will practice lipreading P, B, and M sounds in sentences. This lesson also explores the importance of using context when you are speechreading. Context is super important. Huge clues about context come from the topic and the lingo and vocabulary associated with that topic.
Interestingly, older adults are more skilled at using context than younger adults are. That is, older adults can predict more readily when the context isn’t as clear. See heara.ca/conte... for more information and a suggestion for a way to get more practice.

Well, this is not easy, is it! Anyway, I'm back from the B2B2 - the Day 2 For Dummies :) These videos have a very professional look and polish to them, great job. I will keep working at it, but it is not easy. I have Meniere's and am losing my hearing in my good ear, the other one has been toast for a long time. I'm very impressed with how well done these videos are, I just wish the goal was easier to achieve. Thank you for doing this. To do the whole sentence without sound is quite a leap from getting just one word.

Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate the feedback! I consciously made it challenging so that people would have something to work towards. I hope it is not so challenging that you feel discouraged. Later on I change the format to saying it silently, saying it out loud, then silently again. You might have an easier time with that format. The main thing is to keep going! It's all a matter of practice. Thanks again and please do let me know how you make up with the next lessons! Take care.

How I ask for context is by quickly trying to summarize what I have heard and understood, and then saying something along the lines of, “I missed some key words though, can you tell me who- or what- this refers to?”

I like how you expressed that! Thank you.
