I use the lush lip scrubs, which don’t leave behind a balmy feel. It’s a sugar scrub with honey and oils that is meant to be either washed or licked away. I prefer it that way because I get to apply my own balm afterwards and they come in nice flavours.
I actually do use the towel method! Especially when I was in-between jobs and felt super guilty about buying literally anything other than the bare necessities, it was the easiest way for me to make my lips softer. Just take a wet towel and VERY GENTLY rub your lips with circular motions. I'd usually do it after a hot shower after I felt the steam had already softened up the upper layer of dead skin. Still no scrubs currently, but I've been loving my mint EOS balm. I put it on every morning before I go to work now
This is my go to as well. I find that physical exfoliators like sugar scrubs do nothing for my lips. I usually put on a thick layer of Jack Black lip balm at night and then towel scrub my lips in the morning. Works every time and it's the best.
Perfect timing! Just yesterday I was looking to try a new lip scrub. I’ve been using Mint Julips from Lush and I love it, but I just want to try something new! I think that Lanolips Lemonaid is right up my alley. Have you tried the Wonder Drops from fresh? It seems interesting, I think I’ll pick it up eventually!
Yay, Mint Julips was my very first lip scrub many years ago! Sadly my first and only Lush product though as their scents are too strong for me. I haven't tried that Fresh formula but I'm hoping someone else will review it in the comments! ☺️👍 x
hi i’ve just recently tried the wonder drops from fresh!! i love the serum formula over usual sugar scrubs as it still manages to exfoliate and smooth over the lips without the mess and uncomfortable grit of physical scrubs. One thing to note is that when the serum sinks into your lips it leaves a kind of sticky residue that stays there as much as you wipe off, so i have to use another lip balm on top (but maybe that residue acts like a primer if you were to wear a lipstick on top?) and it doesn’t hydrate the lips as much as it just exfoliates and smooths your lips over. I have noticed that it kind of plumps your lips, not in a too faced lip injection kind of way, but really just erases lip wrinkles. Overall, the lip wonder drops from fresh is a yes from me!! xx
Before watching I had never realized you are supposed to rub the scrubs until the sugar disappears- I had just rubbed for a while and then tissues off. I just tried the by terry scrub the way you suggested, and it works SO much better! Thanks for this tip!
hey, guess who finally broke their 14 month no buy with 3 lip balms from Pat Mcgrath loool. I literally rewatched all ur videos where they were featured😂😂😂. Love ur videos as always!
This is not really related to lip-balms but i LOVE your voice and your aussie accent. It's so asmr with your hands and I really love the mix of two. Is it just me? But also you are so informed about the products you talk about and you describe everything in detail and after watching your video I feel like I used those products you talked about for years. Appreciate you so much!
a great drugstore lip scrub (in my opinion) is the Revlon Kiss Exfoliating Balm in Sugar Mint! it's a stick sugar scrub that melts into a nice balm for like $6
It’s taken me 19 years to start properly taking care of my lips, had chapped lips for all of my childhood and got scared when I heard that it can make your lips prematurely wrinkly!! Great video as always, love the care put into your flat lay shots :) ♡
Btw I would love if you did individual lip balm/gloss reviews. Like your lippie videos are just my FAVORITE EVER. You do such a good job describing the products and also the aesthetic of your vids is really nice and satisfying.
Thank you, really appreciate that Angelica! I always like to pick a particular concept or group of products to talk about, but I'll keep this in mind ☺️👍 x
As being a baume de rose addict myself, I think I cant resist myself from buying and using that baume de rose scrub! I was already excited about it, when I saw it in your top ten by terry product video. You already made me fall in love with you and baume de rose, so I cant wait to smell that heavenly rose scent from another product!
I love sugar scrubs (I have Fresh's sugar scrub) as a form of self care but I find that they are not very effective in removing the dead cells off of my lips! I still use them though since I love their scent!🥰🥰 I also pre-ordered Lisa's new launch and I'm so excited!!! Can't wait for your video!!😉
I was just rewarching your tinted lip balms video, and as I saw this title, I knew the glow recipe lip pop would be on here. It’s a great balmy product, really glides on the lips! Good job on this vid!
The way I have gone through 4 tubes of Lanolips and on my second Lanostick all thanks to you, Matilda! 😂 thank you so much for helping me discover my favorite product of all time.
I just put a thick layer of lipbalm before going to bed. All of the dead skin get soften and easily to remove by hand, washcloth or the back of a tooth brush the next morning. My favorite lipbalm is nivea strawberry shine and peach shine. It works on my lips's dead skin better than any lip scrub I've tried.
have you tried the french girl rose lip scrub? i bought it from liberty in london around a month ago, and the first time i tried it i actually thought "this seems like a product matilda would like" hahah, your rose and eucalyptus scents have definitely influenced me!
This Indian brand called Forest Essentials makes the best lip scrub. I've used many here in the US, but i keep going back to Forest Essentials sugar lip scrub. The packaging is also great.
Ahhh Time To Add More Stuff To My Horrendously Massive Collection Of Sheer Lip Products And Balms, it's definitely a tinyyyyy addiction by now but I can't help it!!! Thank you Matilda For encouraging my lips product obsession, will forever love these relaxing simple video formats and satisfying swatches 👀 💕
It varies depending on the instructions of the scrub! Many have moisturising ingredients as well, so once the sugar dissolves, they just feel nice and balmy 👍 The Fenty scrub is the only formula here that specifically needs to be wiped away x
While Fresh’s lip scrub is my favorite, I’ve always found it kind of smells like soap to me. May be that citrusy scent you mentioned just not being my cup of tea.
The body shop do something called a lip scuff that I like a lot! It’s not dissimilar from the fenty one judging by the look and description. It is lightly exfoliating which overall I prefer but that fresh one look wonderful for the days when I need something more 💖
So excited for this video; I've been looking at the Glow Recipe Lip Pop duo bundle that they have at Sephora (at least in the US), so this was perfect timing! x
i exfoliate 2 ways: 1) gently run toothbrush over lips post-teethbrushing (works especially well when my lips are super super chap) 2) equal parts (warmed) honey and oatmeal! i find this gentler than a traditional brown sugar lip scrub no surprise here, matilda has shared a wonderful video with us again! funny story: i end up having your youtube videos play in the background while i cook just so i can enjoy your voice..... like i'm too focused on cooking to actually focus on what makeup/skincare product you're reviewing, but i enjoy basking in the sound of your voice anyways. goodness, what i've said could come off as creepy. I guess what i am trying to say is that i think you have a really nice voice lol
This video was so aptly timed, Matilda! I was debating whether I should get the By Terry lip scrub when I was browsing Mecca the other day 😂 P.S. I’m also very excited for your Lisa Eldridge vid, I saw you commenting that you’ve pre-ordered under her new video 👀
The best gentle lip scrubs are by Mac Cosmetics - a great Canadian brand. 🇨🇦 I just bought a new one today! I find Lush to be too chunky and harsh. A lip scrub is the only thing that gently removes some of my matte liquid lipsticks.
I really love the Mecca Cosmetica Lip Scrub! Affordable with an elegant formula that exfoliates my lips so nicely and doesn’t dry them out (which is major considering I had super dry lips during the winter).
I CAN'T live without the dior lip scrub! My lips kinda full and very dry, so it has a lot a dead skin haha Since I started using everyday after shower, my lips are so soft and beautiful! I'm propably using my fourth, and always have a back up! I love because you can sleep or drink water and stays on the lips. On a daily bases I carry around about four lipbalms with me, a clear one, a tinted one, a glossy one, I'm a hoarder haha And every single day before bed I apply the nuxe one that comes in a little jar, love that. People often praise about my lips so I think I'm doing a nice job!
i used to adooree the lush lip scrubs but stopped buying them when i realised i was borderline eating the stuff and not scrubbing with it😂😂 i tend to make my own now with coffee and sugar instead!!
I've tried the fresh sugar scrub and the Glow Lip Pop. Fresh sugar scrub works really well and leaves lips moisturised. Glow Lip doesn't seem as effective but I love the balmy feel.
This is actually a wonderful coincidence! I was thinking about what lip scrub I should buy because the lip stain that I put on yesterday did not go on as smoothly as I wanted. They all look very nice but I’ll probably be sticking to The Body Shop lip scrub since it’s the most accessible where I live. However the By Terry one is very tempting.
My first and only lip scrub is the Dior one. But I try to use it 2 times a week but I use it every single day😅.But besides that, I litterally love your videos and your voice is sooo soothing and relaxing love to watch your videos when ever and stressed. And love the way you review things. Its soooo informative. Keep making good content🤗😊.
I do enjoy the Glow Recipe product and find that I grab it a lot during mask wearing....but love? Could jump to something else, if I could find it. Wish Glossier would come out with this type of product.
I always get so excited whenever you upload. 🖤 Hope to see more of burberry on your channel (VERY off topic i am sorry) - binge watched ur videos the other day and burberry caught my eye!😆 Its 12pm in my country everytime you post, but i love waiting for you😎
I don’t know why but I’ve always thought of lip scrubs as gimmicky..I like the idea in theory and have purchased a couple before and used once or twice, but somehow they’ve ended up at the back of the cabinet, forgotten 🤷🏻♀️...might try the fresh one
Hey i have been watching your videos for a while and I'm still waiting for ur CT and pat mcgrath lipstick swatches Also I'm a tenager and im starting to love makeup and what makeups do u advice for starters
Hello there! Well this is all super interesting and very new for me Matilda! Never used a lip scrub before but you know how much of a lipstick/balm fiend I am 👄..... it was you that introduced me to the Fresh range so might give that a try it, of course the Baume de 🌹.... everyday a beauty and skin learning day with you Matilda... SYNT 👋 ❤️❤️❤️
For anyone here who has keratosis pilaris, I was wondering if dry brushing my skin could help with the bumps. Any other suggestions would be helpful because it's gotten to the point where I'm too insecure to wear shorts. :(
Honestly I’ve tried dry brushing with my kp but it didn’t seem to do much besides irritate my skin. I would recommend the paulas choice 10 percent aha moisturizer and pair it with like a aveeno oat moisturizer. The kp calmed down substantially while I was using them however when I stopped the kp came back but it’s gotten better than before. Best of luck to ur journey. I’ve grown to appreciate my kp more but it’s definitely annoying to deal with.
I use the First Aid Beauty body scrub, advertised for people with KP. Using it 2-3 times a week in the shower makes a difference, at least with my skin.
I just use fine salt or sugar + petroleum jelly 🤣 . Exfoliates and takes away the smell of flavorful meals. I also use Cure Aquagel for a lighter feel. Would love to be a bit fancy 😉 with actual lip exfoliator products. Thanks for the vid! 🤗
Dear Matilda , I like the Fresh scrub best , but recently I have been using Dr Sam Bunting’s lip balm and it is magic , you do not need a scrub anymore , ı highly recommend that you try 👍🏻🤗
