I like the way you broke down lipids from their very basic components and how they differentiate and the roles they play in the body. This was a very informative video that helped me to better understand lipids.
MEDA 110 summer 2020: great way to give a break down of lipids, its been about 1 year ago that I learned about lipids, thank you again for giving a great explanation.
This video was very helpful with you breaking down the lipids. I was unaware of all the different types of lipids. I really liked how you used examples throughout the video
I liked how you started off by explaining the structure of lipids from carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and sometimes phosphorous. This was helpful in understanding
I like that you explained how ADVIL works without getting too complicated! I never thought that the culprit to pain aches is a lipid! Great job. :) - MEDA 110 - SU 2020
Another awesome video! I learned all about lipids in this video. Lipids are hydrophobic molecules that contain hydrogen oxygen and phosphates. I learned all the functions of Triglycerides and their importance. For instance, they are known as the neutral fats and protect from certain environmental things. Also they help with insulation and storing ERG. These are all things I did not know before this video, thank you!
MEDA 110 2019- I definitely appreciate this video because it helps me connect the learned bits and pieces together. For example you broke down what a lipid was and then helped to relate it back to common issues in the body like how it physiologically plays a role in reducing pain.
Your explanation on Lipids was interesting and helpful. The videos you post are like a video study guide, you break down the hard to grasp concepts and make it easy to understand.
MEDA 110 summer 2020. I like the way you explained how lipids are made up. I also enjoyed that you explained the function of lipids, they have more functions than what I knew.
I found it quite interesting that phospholipids make up the majority of the cell membrane. You touched basis on many different lipids all in a short manner of time. Another great video.
MEDA 110, mesa college, summer 2020: I love how you break down lipids from how they are made up: P, C, H, & O. This is a great way to start the video and compartmentalize the topic.
I love how your video are short but you explain so much in them, its way better than reading a book. You explain everything in detail which is very helpful for me. I learned a lot about lipids here and also learned new terms, Thank you.
Lipids are very complex to me, so I appreciated how you explained the chemistry, different kinds, structure, and functions! I also didn't know steroids were considered a lipid!
MEDA 55 MELIINA CHENG: Lipids was actually one of my favorite things to study in my Nutrition class a few years ago. I like how informative you are because this is something that needs to be broken down and talked about in detail. The video was very easy to follow along.
Great video! I like how you broke down each lipid: triglycerides, phospholipids, steroids (sterols), and eicosinoids. I think it was interesting to know that prostaglandins can be responsible for the achy feeling we experience with headaches (inflammatory response).
I vaguely remember learning about eicosinoids, so it was interesting to learn that they are part of inflammation and prostaglandin. Referencing to Advil as an inhibitor of prostaglandin production really helps me to apply this information practically. When I have a headache I usually do take Advil. Thanks for the interesting information!
I have learned about lipids in previous courses but have always struggled with the content, this video was very simple and allowed me to understand clearer. Alexandra Vujnovich (BIO 327) Fall 2019
I enjoyed your video on lipids. I didn’t know that steroids was a lipids. I didn’t know that cholesterol is where everything comes from in the steroid, the three kinds are testosterone, estrogen and cortisol. Every helpful when you explained the four main lipids and gave the similarity and each difference within each.
MESA MEDA 55/FALL 2020 - Four lipids we need to know are: 1. Triglycerides 2. Phospholipids 3. Steroids 4. Eicosinoids Wrote notes. Thank you Professor!
This was a very informative video. I was unaware of all the different types of lipids. I really liked how you used examples throughout the video. Having examples really makes the topic easier to understand. For example, I liked how with steroids you mentioned Cholesterol. I had no idea everything is connected to cholesterol.
BIOL 327 Fall 2019: it was really interesting learning that lipids are hydrophobic molecules containing carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and sometimes phosphates
This video is very informative to understand about lipid correctly! The main learning on this video is connection with steroids and cholesterol! Start with structure of lipid is really helpful to organize my knowledge!
43017 MEDA 55 Fall 2020: Hi Professor, I remember learning about lipids when I was reading my CPT book. The way you explain it is so much easier to understand.
MESA_MEDA_55_Fall 2020: There's a lot that goes into the smallest thing, i find that so interesting, molecules of all sorts are so important for EVERYTHING!
MEDA 55 summer 2020: I found very interesting that steroid control all of the hormones (male and female hormones) this was a very informative and well organize video
I often hear cholesterol being given a bad wrap. Its amazing to think it is the derivative of testeron, estrogen, and everybody's favorite stress hormone.
I did not know that precursors to testosterone, estrogen and cortisol come from cholesterol. We always hear cholesterol is bad. Had to rewind to understand the point of bringing up Advil ---- which is apparently an anti prostaglandin --- because it inhibits inflammation.
Hey professor so I got totally lost at the explanation of eicosinoid, so is this particular lipid alleviate the pain? is that why you use advil as an example of eicosinoid? every other lipids I notice that they play a role but really got lost on eicosinoid lipids. Can you explain a bit more thoroughly? please and thank you
MEDA 55 2020 I like this lipid video my high school teacher made a video also but I tend to find your to have more information the lipids: triglycerides, phospholipids, steroids (sterols), and eicosanoid's explained with exampled. enjoyed this video
MEDA55 #52963# Thank you for explaining four different types of lipid clearly. I always love the way you express them in a simply way, yet fully detailed.
