The series is going really nicely and very satisfyingly. If want, to tie into the whole adding depth to realism by decorating, maybe in the country on a farm have a dedicated road depot that has stables for horses to breed. Then for later, a mechanics shop in a city or also country with maybe even a small engine and chassis manufacturer near a steel works and machines shop. Really do enjoy the adding realism by decorating the industries, cant wait to see it when comes to city population growth and restructuring some of the city layouts.
When you start up an oil well it is immediately producing 400 units of oil. You should set your line rate to 400 to match that oil production and get it to the port and you will make a better profit doing that even if some of the oil goes to waste at the port before you have money to increase your ship lines. The same is true for lumber, coal and ore. Those resources always produce maximum amounts as soon as you start them up and your line rates should always match their production rates.
The only thing stopping me from doing this is that it would take close to 200 horses to move at that rate. Maybe once bigger trucks become available but right not it doesn’t make sense to do that yet
A+ for that little map overview of the episode plans really nice and unique touch. I think with ships in early stages breaking the Oil/Fuel lines into 2 makes better sense imo until you get to an era where you get bigger capacity and faster ships.
Thanks! It is something new I wanted to try and might continue doing in future videos. I did not try split the fuel line because the current one actually still earns a profit on the legs where it’s only half full so I figured there’s no point in trying the other set up since this one works well
@@ultimatearchitect splitting the line will actually increase your profits: 01. Your current set up in terms of how load percentages are split per journey legs are 100/50/50/50. 02. If you split the lines, you will have one line running at 100/50 rate, the other running 100/100. On top of that, the number of ships will be optimized per line.
Oh, hey! Sorry for the late response (as I was abit lazy with watching some TPF2 videos on YT), but I was the one who suggested Brookshire County (albeit the name I suggested was New Brookshire, but ok)
New Brookshire is good for a city name but I liked the name more as a county name so it made sense to cut out the "new" portion of the name. Thank you for your suggestion! Hope you enjoy the series!
Love the cinematic thing, very nicely done. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the truck loading stations at ports - do they have enough storage for all the cargo that gets dumped by ships?
That is something I did not think about but I believe all the truck stops currently are okay since a lot of the boats are returning about half full. This will be something I need to add for the future when things get more busy
It's mostly just guessing. It is annoying to have no effective line tool so I usually find something as a reference for lines (shadows, fences, roads) and go from there. There is no good snapping or spacing tools in this game so for the most part it just depends on how much time you want to waste making it look good.
