Hi Jim, Thanks for your reaction to this. To me "The Beast" is reminiscent of Brent Hind's side project Fiend without a Face. I am glad this sound has now come across to Mastodon.

I said the same a couple days ago. This may be my favorite Mastodon album ever but The Last Baron is and will be the number one track. I also love The Czar, White Walker and The Sparrow and hoped they some day make an album filled with that moody stuff. This is probably as close to that dream as it will ever get. Kinda wish they made a full album without the heavier tracks. Maybe a double concept like Opeth's Deliverance and Damnation.

My favorite album will always be the hunter, then the older stuff...not a huge remissions fan, but I think the hunter grew on me despite everyone saying it was their worst. If thats their worst, ill take it. Sonically though, this album is pure gold

In your first video it was interesting how you started the video a bit tired and "official-faced", but as the songs went on, you turned very exited about the music. This second side works the same way, though now you were already a bit hyped up by it. 🤟😄👍

Absolutely love this banger. Hushed is so, so good. I had the pleasure of seeing Mastodon 2 weeks ago in concert. Hearing the songs live was AWESOME. What a band. Love your reaction!!

It’s more work, and the whole process is much slower, and using physical media is expensive and inconvenient for making these, but the result is worth it, the music is magical and the format kind of marks me apart from some other channels. Quality over quantity! Glad you’re enjoying the content Gavin!

I think this vinyl is missing the best song from the CD album! Had It All. Worth listening to, a far cry from the days of Blood and Thunder, but it's really well constructed and has a killer solo.

Hey Jim, how much a perfect circle have you listened to just the one song Judith? As I highly recommend either get 1 or all 3 of the vinyl's I'd say 13th step is a good album to start on. If you want to hear more before purchasing a good shout to react to is either gravity by and down the river or orestes 3 amazing songs I know you will love.

Mastodon again. Side one was very good. Singer number three if I’m right. I don’t know how the other albums sound but, so far, this album is a very good one. Third? song is great. Their single is ok but so far the least interesting although it’s played very well. Don’t really like the last song. Ever heard of Amethystium? They made some nice electronic music. Try Shadow to light.

Troy is actually the only Georgia boy, the band is based out of Georgia since the beginning but Brent is from Alabama and Bill and Brann are from Rochester New York and have been playing together for the past 30 years well before mastodon even existed. They moved to Georgia and then joined forces with Brent and Troy who were in a band together

I like what I'm hearing BUT I dunno....maybe it's the vocals, they seem a bit understated. Might take some repeated listening on my part. Edited bit.... I think it's because I've been listening to Blood Mountain a lot recently.

The two singles on this side of the first album are sooo much better without their videos. Just my opinion, but those videos were distracting, especially the Teardrinker one.
