Extremely clever foreshadowing that I could pick out: 1. The whole "literal monster" thing, a reference to what Max becomes (that goes for all references to him having non-human features/not being human) 2. The whole choreography and the tone contrasts with after he's dead so well 3. "No one's gonna stop him"- you know, ghost Max can't be stopped 4. "Like a Nighthawk he preys"- his affinity with the school mascot 5. Richie is the first guy he bullies (and kills) 6. "there's a difference between intent and impact"- exactly how Max feels about the accident that killed him. The intent wasn't to kill him, but seeks revenge on the impact. 7. Richie begging for a lesser punishment (he pleads for his life later) 8. Jason saying they should let him off with a warning- foreshadows that Max is the only one interested in bullying, and they are all nice when he's gone 9. Max defending Grace, saying she's off limits. He never directly attacks her at any point. 10. Constant reference to Grace being a dirty girl. Sets up like her whole story and flips how they speak after he's a ghost (she claims to be a dirty girl) 11. Grace warns Max he'll go to Hell, which is what happens to him. 12. Max doesn't rest until he tastes Chastity's little peach, which is what is needed to get rid of him.
Some of those aren't foreshadowing. The last one is, but foreshadowing would be more akin to Max in Dirty Girl saying: "I am expecting you to be-betray me" In this song is also a reference to Max knowledge about the bible that later Grace points out, when he mentions Grace is a "forbidden fruit"
I love the there’s a difference between intent and impact line because it comes up so many times later. Grace’s intention the entire time is to get sexual thoughts out of her head and the impact her plan has sets off the entire rest of the musical. Max’s intention was have sex with Grace chastity for the forbidden fruit thing. The impact of him getting what he wanted was literally hisdeath .
