Most people buy brands because of the clout others might give them for purchasing said brand. If you are just using the thing as a box cutter or letter opener, nothing wrong with the clone if that's your purpose. For $20, it beats what you can purchase for $20 at Walmart or Target.

Nothing new here guy's. Benchmade has been one of the biggest USA knife makers to be cloned for several years now. NOT just the Bugout model but ALL Benchmade's.

@@blubblab4238 Benchmade is a great company the prices are a little steep But your paying for the lifetime warranty and lifetime sharpening if u want....So people got pissed at Benchmade for helping there local police force destroy some guns that were used in crimes or that were illegal.. Regardless the guns had to be destroyed...It was BS really they did there police department a favor

Ive had the 535, 940 and 550-1 clones... But I also own the real deals. I just wanted to see how good they were. Heres my take. For the price. Can't be beat. I however, acid washed the blades to get rid of the BM markings. Are they as smooth an the real ones even if you sand and polish the pivots and washers. No. Do they keep an edge as long as S30V, or 20cv...definetely not and it's immediately evident upon sharpening them how much softer they are. Are they worth the money. HELL YES. I use the fakes for work as a contractor and I beat the ever living crap out of them without a care in the world about chipping, dulling or breaking them. The aluminum handle 535 has been in my pocket for months now, it's taken an absolute beating. Way more then what you've done here. If I could upload pics here I would to show how it's held up. Anyway. You get what you pay for I guess is what I'm trying to say but if you need some beater knives, you get the axis lock & BM feel, without the feeling of being raped in your wallet. lol.

I bought two clones two weeks ago, one with aluminium scales and one with G10 scales. Wanted to try out the bugout experience (size/weight) without spending 150€. (Not talking about quality, fit and finish or steel) I am more of big knife guy, so I probably will not get a real one. But for trying out and as small gifts the clones are alright. If I really wanted to use it, I would go with the real one. PS: The real one is not made for abuse either, it is a super lightweight EDC cutting tool.

I like and own Benchmade’s , but I’ll be honest, I’ve never owned any without blade play. It usually goes away if I over tighten the pivot, but then the action isn’t good.

Yep! Pure 100% dumb S**t's! They would be better served using a folder as a suppository or as tampon, (after all, it does have a hole for a string to pull it back out) than a batoning blade. Use a knife for a knife. Ax for an Ax, and a dayumed screwdriver for a Screwdriver. Unless you have more money than sense! KnifeMaker/47 years making a living as a Custom maker, Retired.

I wouldn't mind the rip offs so much if they didn't claim to be the real deal. For $12 it's probably OK but there's no way I'm giving scamners my money. I doubt you could buy a real S30V blank for that money.

@@NomenclaturalManSo if you get two from that length then it's almost exactly the cost of the finished knife. And that's got to have the decarb ground off so you're going to have to be real careful or there won't be enough thickness left, plus then there's the cost of heat treatment.

TBH, i bought a benchmade clone off eBay from japan, I spoke to the guy who makes them from his house in japan, very nice guy he told me if i didnt like it i could send it back. i own 10 real benchmades 2 being the bugout which was the model of clone i purchased. now the construction and everything was great its sharp it stays sharp and performs very well. i took it camping with me in the backwoods of canada during end of September and it didn't dull or break at all. was surprised that it kept up with my 200$ benchmade bugout mini, and i paid 30 CAD, for this knife clone. again i purchased it from japan not china so maybe thats the difference. he also used 440 hhc stainless steel for the blade. handle is carbon fiber. this was also 2 years ago i purchased it and it still works great and no screws stick out or anything.

If you don’t know if your Bugout is real check for crooked prints, misalignment, chips in coating, etc. if you have any of these things rest assured you have a real Benchmade

I suspect the original uses frn. Fiberglass reinforced nylon for the handle and that the fake one is just nylon. A cost cutting measure that makes a LOT of difference. Frn is actually pretty Damn strong like you guys noticed. Regular nylon is definitely not.

I actually have this knife as I wanted to see how good(or not) it was... Not gonna lie there was obviously going to be a difference between a €14 and a €140 knife, yeah its a cheap crap knife, but compared with gas station knives which are the same price bracket I suspect its probably a bit better. so long as you know you're buying a fake its not the worst deal in the world. I wouldnt use it for much more than opening letters though.

@@DutchBushcraftKnives yeah that is a big problem, definitely and China should crack down on them. Although if you're spending €14 on wish you kinda know you're getting a crap knife. And to be fair I'm not the kind of person who will ever be able to justify spending €140 on a knife so it's as close as I'll get. It's an important lesson about buying from trusted suppliers and to be extremely careful with buying from anyone you don't know.

@@A-G-F- I don't think they really do actually because they aren't directly competing in terms of price assuming they the ones sourced from wish/Ali Express and not ones passed off as genuine. People who can't spend €140 on a knife aren't going to buy a real one and people wanting a good one who could afford a €140 knife would never buy a fake one. They are 2 different products in 2 different markets.

I just received the bugout with the grivory scales, it was a gift. Only thing is it's my first Benchmade & I didn't want to change out anything but I really like Jade scales. I have g10 Jade scales coming in the mail. My pockets are loaded down already, that having this little bugout does help, seriously. At first I was sad on how hollow it felt but now it's ok 🤷🏼‍♂️ I carry a Leatherman at work, so when I off I have my other pants on with this EDC blade, among others, but I will be using this. I'm always outside & i live up in the Appalachian mountains this tool will not be doing anything is not intended for but has already been used to cut something outside 😆 I'll be giving this knife a try, that price tag sucks but whatever. It'll be a $200 knife. I don't have BM $$ & I thought at first touch this knife would suck but it's growing on me. Nice video. I may add a back spacer too, not sure. I need time with this setup. Great content, y'all have a sub from me. Read up on grivory, it's pretty tough stuff that's been around for awhile

I say 3 things about this: 1.) Fakes are fakes, you have to know if you want such a thing or not 2.) there are far better fakes out there than this. Those cost 20-40 dollars, not 10. 3.) Most people use their knives to open packages, cut a sausage and stuff like this. They probably would never notice the difference between a better fake and a real one.

Well if it this fake bugout wasn't trying to pretend to be real one just be regular folder kinda similiar to benchmade one for a 10-15$ it could be not bad EDC "not for demanding usage" but since it's trying to be something it is not it's disgusting and it shouldn't be possible to sell knife with manufacturers logo that isn't actual made by them, trademark should actually mean something even for chinese

I think that the real Bugout is the biggest scam put upon us by Benchmade. I had 2 and in order to make it a good knife I had to buy scales for $90.00. It is definitely not a $200 knife not even a $125 knife. It should cost no more than $60-70. The Bugout convinced me that we are sheep that just follow what we’re told. Even considering the fact that Benchmade is overpriced it should still be under $100. Spyderco which is also expensive has lightweights that are much better in this price range and below. In summation the Bugout is a piece of overhyped overpriced piece of crap. There I said it. I feel better now.

When you're neither rich nor famous....you make stupid videos? I bought a Bugout clone with aluminum handles (not the cheap Benchmade plastic) for US $23, shipped. It's nicely made, came very sharp. The action is quite good. I don't cut hundreds of meters of rope or baton or try to destroy it by throwing it at things. And I saved OVER $100. I'll never buy an overpriced, overrated Benchmade product.

If you want to buy the buyout go to the website and you can customize the colors and other things. It’s a little bit more expensive but might be worth it because it’s not really cheap to begin with.

Lol, a guy I work with was bragging about getting a Benchmade Bugout from Wish for $16, was so excited saying it was a real Bugout not a clone. 🤣🤣🤣 I showed him my real bugout and I compared the differences.

Китайцы практически все активно подделывают бенчи, спайдерку, микротеки, колды, керши, зт ну и прочий мейнстрим… это проблема конечна… но причина почему все так сложно не только в пиратах китайцах но и в том что американские производители заламывают просто нереальные цены… кусок стали даже хорошей не может стоить больше 30 баксов… пластик вообще ничего не стоит… почему тогда нож типа последней дуры от спайдерко или бог-айт от бенчи стоят 100-120 баксов… переплачивать за надпись на ноже в три-четыре раза больше это тупо…

I like my real bugout so much that i don't use it in my work... But I use the Jufule clones form Ali... For a small knife job, clones are doing fine. BTW Ali clones are better quality compared to clones from wish.

If the Chinese manufacturer would be more honest about copying the design I wouldn't mind so much but this is just shameless. There are some like ganzo or sitivien that also basically copy the blade shape and stuff but they don't then lie to your face and claim it's a spyderco or whatever. That's what I find objectionable. You can't seriously expect the same quality for something ten times the price. That is not reasonable - that cost has to go somewhere, benchmade doesn't make 1000% profit. I still got the purple "bugout" knowing full well it was fake - because I'm a cheap bastard.

If you are just doing cardboard get a Milwaukee boxcutter or the fake. You get 80% of the axis action, feel and fidget factor for several times lower cost. How many can afford to regularly feather and pound their $200+ knives.... Not many. I'd rather do that to a cheap fixed blade morakniv

I've seen better clones than that. There is more than one maker that makes them, some are really good. And yes, I've got clones amongst my knives, but also originals that didn't copy from anything else. And about this test, for something that costs 1/10 of the original, it's ok. Do I care about copyright infringement? NOPE.

I've bought an Osborn carbon from blade hq. It had pertruding screws too. Not to mention the piece of crap omega spring that needs replacement often. Not worth even remotely close to benchmade price tag. Basically an idiot for buying them at $260 or whatever. Chinese one for $40 blows it away price wise and quality up to par from what I have seen lately.
