I have said it before and I'll say it again: the most innovative rappers right now are British black women. Simz is a phenomenal rapper who deserves more recognition - and kudos to her for staying independent and not letting majors compromise her.

I love readin all these positive comments!! I've been following simz since her E.D.G.E. project. she is SOOO talented and empowering, she's exactly what hip hop needs right now. I wish he would stop saying Grime is UK Hip Hop. Grime is not UK Hip Hop. UK Hip Hop refers to people like Roots Manuva, Lowkey, Akala and Jehst etc. UK Rap refers to Giggs, Nines and Young Spray etc. Grime refers to Wiley, Dizzee , Kano , Skepta etc. Grime comes from UK garage, which essentially came from US Garage/House, which came from Disco and electronic music. Hip Hop also came from Disco music as well therefore how can Grime be Hip Hop. Grime is heavily influenced by Hip Hop and their sounds contain more similarities year by year, but that doesn't make it the root of Grime. Grime has other influences as well such as Dancehall and Jungle.

Myles Jeremiah I hear where you're coming from, but it really isn't. For example, Grime would still exist without the "rapping" element. It's the instrumental that is Grime, which came from Garage, Bashment and Drum and Bass music. Remove the beat an it's not grime anymore. Essentially all the genres we both mentioned (including hip hop and grime) stems from West Indian sound system culture. That's how I see it, but to each their own.
I don't get how some people act like Rosenberg is the problem with Hot97 when he stays bringing less famous rappers on his show and giving them a look that would be hard to get otherwise. What other show in New York would play Chinx, Oddisee, Little Simz, Kendrick, Sean Price, YG and Remy Banks in the same hour?
+ss140 aka speedy's shiny forehead Stormzy doesn't get involved in the USA as much as little simz it seems. simz be out shooting music videos in LA n that whereas Stormzy keeps it local. no doubt stormzy's more known in the UK than simz, but she's got the backing of a few american heads like kendrick and jay z.
Rosenberg! Yo you should get gemstones up on there. You may remember him as gemini coming up with lupe fiasco a long time ago. He's been back for 3 years and his newest album has dropped. Everyone show him some love Gemstones - lyrical miracle. One of his songs that spits straight fire. Now rappers like lecrae, and bizzle be getting with him.
All you Americans thinking she's bad, PLEASE, I beg you to listen to her song called 'Deranged' (Basically Earl Sweatshirts - Hive instrumentals/ yano that dark bassline) And come back here, and tell me how good it was. Earls original of Hive can't be beaten, .but her cover, so much vocabulary and just pure strong feel it will make you think. All I can say is please, take a listen, and you will become a fan. :)
