Jimi Hendrix' Little Wing is just stunningly beautiful. What an amazing composition that sends a strange feeling to your insides. Don't know what, but makes me want to search for something in there that may not even exist. How did you do it, Jimi, in about two minutes. Then Stevie got the ok to cover it and blew the lid off it ! Soft spoken Lil Stevie was a savage beast on the guitar. Absolutely love him! RIP, King SRV. RIP, Jimi, my 1st electric love. ☮️to all

Watching Stevie play it’s obvious that he was gifted with the very rare ability to channel music through his mind, body and soul and then into his hands. Stevie’s guitar was an extension of his body. He was one with his ax. The man ate, slept and breathed playing blues on his guitar. He was one of those people that was put on earth to do one thing better than most humans can do and then be taken early in life. Stevie’s other worldly legacy will always live on.

Nothing more to be said then "Jimi Hendrix. Some will copy, and some will try to wear his clothes, scarves, and hats, but there is only one Jimi." SRV is great, but Jimi changed Rock music overnight, in a small London Pub in 1967. That's why Stevie Ray said Jimi was the greatest and was his idol.

I saw SRV in 1989 co-headline with Jeff Beck, another great you need to checkout. I agree you have to hear and see Stevie Live, but you need to checkout the studio version of Little Wing. You can hear the amps humming in the background. You may also want to checkout The Allman Brothers Band, the Live at Fillmore East album is considered as one of the best live albums ever! In Memory of Elizabeth Reed and Whipping Post are must listen's. Duane Allman and Dickie Betts trading leads.

I'm not a Stevie Ray Vaughn fan, but respect him. As far as amazing guitar instrumentals, acoustic Michael Hedges "Aerial Boundaries". The live video posted on bluesvalerio youtube channel is good. I put Hedges in the top twenty of best guitarist of all time. Many people never heard of Hedges, I doubt he could win a poll. However if you asked most well-known rock guitarists, they'd know how he was. Any plans to react to class holiday rock tunes like Chuck Berry "Run Rudolph"... Newer version of the classic, Jacob Reese Thornton's version of Run Rudolph Run has amazing guitar solos.
@casperparks
@casperparks Год назад
Larry and Ethan, Run Rudolph was covered by a number of great artists. Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Chris Isaak, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson and more... I decided to surf various versions. Opinion: Hands-down, Jacob Reese Thornton does the best version... Sound quality and guitar are fantastic... Yeah, he's not an older rocker... He's young, currently18 to 20... Ethan, Jacob was roughly your age when he recorded Run Rudolph Run... If you guys decided to do a reaction for the classic holiday rock song Run Rudolph Run, I suggest Jacob Reese Thornton because of the performance and sound quality. But if you do Chuck Berry or another artist's version, that's cool...

SRV was absolutely brilliant, especially live. I was lucky enough to get to see him live a few times when he was London in the '80s. Texas Flood, Pride, and Joy and Wham! from Live at the El Mocambo - in fact the whole concert is brilliant. Wham! is by Lonnie Mack , another great(mostly instrumental) guitarist, who is well worth checking out. SRV did a great version of it with Lonnie Mack himself in the 80s. If you like him I can virtually guarantee you'll like Jeff Healey. He was a young Canadian blind blues guitarist who played sitting down but also behind his back at times! He sadly died way too young but there is a video of him and SRV playing 'Look At Little Sister' together and it is superb. Healey's See The Light is a great track to check out as is his version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

SRV has not charted in the UK on his own, apart from the album In Step in 1989 (#63). In his singles discography he obviously has a string of hits in the US, but it also includes a few in the UK working with other artists: 1983 "Let's Dance"/"Cat People" (w/ David Bowie) - US #8, UK #9 1983 "China Girl"/"Shake It" (w/ David Bowie and Iggy Pop) - US #3, UK #2 1983 "Modern Love"/"Modern Love (Live Version)" (w/ David Bowie) - US #6, UK #2 1985 "Living In America" (w/ James Brown) - UK #5 1985 "How Do You Stop" (w/ James Brown) - UK #90 The David Bowie collaborations are all from Bowie's Let's Dance album. Both James Brown songs are from the album Gravity, and Living In America was also used on the Rocky IV movie soundtrack. This song sounded just a little familiar, and I certainly enjoyed it - went down very well with my coffee break!
