It appears that all the staff under Paula Vennells kept everything about the faults in Horizon from her. Why? Plausable deniability? Was it that she could have taken action to find out but did not?

She told them what she wanted to hear and her minions obliged - most of them had no legal or accounting background and yet rejoiced in the prosecution of innocents using evidence from a system they did not understand. Where they did add staff with such a background and those recruits raised issues they didn't last long. The exception to this was Jarnal Singh, in house and minimally trained lawyer - who disgraced his profession. Many of the retained outside lawyers also behaved disgracefully.

She believes she was just 'too trusting'... an innocent in the hands of scheming Board members. Right.
