I'm italian and yes, I don't want to generalize too much, but what you're saying is pretty correct. We don't just ingest food to make your bodies working efficiently (such a machine-like and very capitalistic idea)... We make love with our food and we like to share the experience with other people, from cooking together, eat together, share our food and to transform the feeding experience into a feast, a dionysiac one. Lots of people from different countries make fun of us italian and describe us as lazy or spoiled, but enjoy fully our lives, take our time to enjoy and take care of ourselves is really "lazy"?
As a person from Denmark which like to identify as a very healthy country but apparently have one of the world's highest cancer rate (and is very obsessed with extremely healthy food, gyms and marathon and "hygge" is often very planned), I second this video very much 😊
After job after job of toxic work environments that have left me burned out and feeling alone in my desire to have more than just a crappy job and a meager existence this video was a breath of hope that made me realize Im not lazy for wanting something better for myself and others...living to work is a road to burnout and moving away from yourself instead of towards life and yourself and ultimately community...
i completely resonate with you this video feels so warm and safe it’s such a beautiful concept and way to life in a way that nourishes you from the inside out
i think this video applies differently to people in the US because our food system is NOT the same as it is in europe, and bread and pasta are not going to provide the same benefits to those of us living here. there are so many harmful additives and unnecessary processing, like bleached flour, added niacin and added folic acid (both of which are necessary vitamins but our food shouldn’t need anything added to it to make it nutritious enough!!), reduced iron, etc.. if your body feels bad after eating bread/pasta in the US, listen to it. and maybe learn how to make bread at home or buy from small local bakeries!!
