Live Reacting To The God Awful "Steven Universe Isn’t Bad" Video (Part...1!?) 

Hurp, I dun got called out. Bold of you to assume I'm not evil. My personal soundtrack suggests otherwise. Mwahahahaha. But seriously, there are things that I like that others don't and things that I hate that others love. It's all fine. Entertainment is varied so that anyone can find what they like. And that's a beautiful thing. Usually, I can at least understand why someone likes a story I don't (like Miraculous), so I'll never tell someone they shouldn't like a story because I don't. I could sit back and binge the cartoons from the 80's. They had stilted and reused animation cycles, cringy dialogue and audio that would make your ears bleed. The plots were barebones and the character development was often lacking. But I still find them fun. And that's what is important. That you have fun. Most of the time, I can find at least one thing, however small, that I can praise in a series I don't like. Even if it's just a surface level thing like it was pretty to look at. So yeah, people are allowed to like ML. And Twilight. And the last jedi. (I threw up in my mouth a little while typing that last one, but you are allowed to like it). They aren't bad people for it. I don't hate, nor would I ever attack, the creators. I just wish they'd take a writing class and in some cases act more mature. I'll just watch the shows I do enjoy, of which there are plenty, including your reviews. Steven Universe had it's ups and it's downs, no show is perfect. I found more things I enjoyed in it than not, but I'm not going to pretend it didn't have faults. And I get it if someone doesn't like it. All fandoms have their less than ideal elements. It's not indicative of the entire fanbase. I feel that if we had a way to quantify it, we'd find that the "toxic" fans are a much smaller percentage than it seems. Either way, the roundtable video kind felt like Awestrux was trying to tell people what they were allowed to critique and what they weren't. Just like we all like different things, we are all bothered by different things. Pointing out a problem is the only way it has a chance of being fixed. As an example, just because he wasn't bothered by the models being off, doesn't make it not a problem and making excuses to wave off the criticism doesn't improve the quality of the show. (For the record, it never bothered me, so I never noticed it while watching). Any storyteller worth their weight should always be looking to improve. That means, at the very least, considering any criticisms. You don't have to act on those critiques, especially if they are made in bad faith, but you should listen to them. Even if it's too late for your current work, it could be helpful for the next. A secondary point. Sometimes fans just like to vent about things that bothered them. That is okay to. Just don't tell the creators to commit die. That's not okay.

1:22 I feel differently. The Roundtable can make whatever garbage video they want and it's no inch of my life but after Vox attacked a child with cancer I have nothing but scorn for him. Then the little creep had the nerve to throw up him making friends with the kid as a defense which smacks to me as him using his status and platform to manipulate the kid as a get out of jail free card. The man is rotten to his core and I have no patience for him.

The arrogance and the assholeishness really gets under my skin when there brought up as I remember that and there enormous ego. I'm Grumpy Mick Eyepatch by the way.

The Roundtable’s video is basically an insult to everyone intelligence who didn’t like the show, or even people who watched the show who recognized its dip in quality as it went on (like me)! The fact that the title for the video was changed just proves it. Vox just went on and on about how basically every valid complaint of the show was null and void through poorly made defenses of the show like how often the characters would go off model, or the major focus on Steven through out the entire show, to even trying to defend the Diamonds being redeemed *Again*. He’s treating everyone who has a problem with it as “haters”……then Vox took it one step further later in the video by saying people who problems of certain aspects of the show as “homophobic. And to think the worse thing involving Vox was the time he bullied the kid from the Make a wish foundation.

Time 49:20 The practice of ending a show on a cliffhanger to try to get ONE more season, is actually pretty common, but often backfires. One if the biggest examples is the 90s show Duckman. It ended with Duckman about to get married when his late wife walks in, alive, not dead. He's surprised. She says, "Didn't Cornfed tell you?" Cornfed says, "Um, I can explain.". And it ends. Fans were like, Wait! What?! No explanation ever given. It was a "Hale Mary" play on the part of the creators, and it didn't work.

I’m just so pissed off that Steven Universe ended THAT way. That ending was soooo unsatisfying.. like where was the show that taught me to appreciate the smaller things in life? What happened to it? OK Steven drives away from beach city. But then what? What happened next? What is that cliffhanger? Is that how you end the show? Why was Connie shoved into the background? Why are all the characters acting so stupid for the sake of the plot? So many questions left unanswered, and to know that this is how this show ends, and we may never see it back again just saddens me to my core.

I agree that steven universe isnt as good as it should be, but I still find it pretty great

I do have a problem with the forced perspective. I understand that it is all about Steven universe's life but very little things plot or character growth barely changed without Steven was there to see it. Life changes without steven seeing it. I loved how peridot and lapis got real into art but the everyone else, not so much. Also what "Pacing" is? That thing you describe how Mocking Jay was boring at 2~hours while JL was fun at 4hour? Yeah that feeling of entertainment and the roller coaster of emotions in shows/film, that's 50% of pacing. The other 50% is how lines, scenes, camera work, and editing is spaced out to convey the flow, themes, and intention of the art. Also btw p.s. HOW DARE YOU HATE DRAGON PRINCE SEASON 1 & 2!!!! I'LL CRUCIFY YOU!!!

1:02:02 I feel like most if not all of the foreshadowing was more or less an afterthought. Like yeah its cool that it tied together like that but it really seems like a lot of it was made up as they went along rather than planned from the beginning. There are many things that could have been foreshadowing but never got any kind of conclusion. Like that freaking chest in Lion's mane. It was opened in future, who knows what was inside?

Dude. Someone's gotta tell Vox that no one cares about Steven Universe anymore. It was here, had its time in the spotlight, now it's gone. End of story. Let Steven rest, Roundtable.

TVC, I just wanted to put this out there to inform you in case you didn't know yet, but if you use the "." button & "," button on your keyboard whilst you're watching a RU-vid video, you can iterate thru the video frame by frame basically. (The logic of it is just following the crocodile mouths "". So pressing "," takes you 1 frame to the left, and pressing "." takes you 1 frame to the right.) And you can hold the buttons to iterate faster. But yeah, if you use that, you don't have to pause to catch something in the video. Hope it helps❤

Well I don't want to start a battle but Steven universe future could have been a little better the movie is perfect for an ending without steven going through a midlife crisis and causing trouble for were ever he goes but at least it's over now with a somewhat of a happy ending

imo that Roundtable video was made primarily to find a reason to talk about it again & get others talking. I don't get it. They wasted like 10+ minutes rambling & pretty much chanting the same sugarcoat over & over again, all for a topic titled in a way to imply that there's a serious issue to address. Like, why are they bringing all this up _other than that they love Steven Universe?_ Is there actually a reason to spark "controversy" (for want of a better word, cos it's just stupid & not controversial. What I’ve learned about people who love things is that they defend these things is because a cartoons characters or shows plot similar to a best friend or a favorite family member that people gain high quality respect ✊ for them and at the same time they also relate to them or have a similar characteristic to that character or by whatever the personality of that character is can hurt them or that person can get angry if you make fun of that show based on how much they like that shows story or characters so those people are going to defend it until the day they die or until they just get tired of that person or the show so that’s pretty much why people always defend something they like cause it’s like there best friend or favorite thing even though it’s not real and it also helps them deal with any form of mental illness or recoverers they may have went through it can be everything and anything to them if it provides them with an abundance of information or entertainment that’s pretty much what I’ve seen over the years with cartoons or animations or even different types of music or books or even just everything and anything not a lot of people can get a long because everyone wants to be right not wrong and have there point of view to be recognized even if it’s right or wrong 🤔 and don’t know what’s the point but the world is messy every day 🧐 I wish it wasn’t but it is and I’ve learned to except some of its messy parts not all of them 😌

It makes perfect sense that The Roundtable would emulate The Cosmonaut Variety Hour with that title bless their hearts. Both channels are about as bottom of the barrel as it gets. They both make a habit of intentionally hiding context and outright lying because they struggle to get their point across otherwise. I'm kind of ashamed that I used to be a fan of both channels.

I think rebecca made a lot of mistakes, as of in the sketchbook there was a racist design or that rebecca used to draw cp. I used to love this show so much because it was part of my childhood, but filler and the long hiatuses.also the storyline being confusing by making the bad guys just good guys, making Steven the only viewpoint also the story got boring and rushed. White diamond arc was rushed, they made yellow appear scary but then kind I have no ideea why they kept fucking with the show. Also Steven Universe future is literally so offensive for people who have PTSD and depression by being depicted as super unstable monsters, I have depression and I feel pretty weird seeing that in a show I'm depicted as an unstable monster. Rose x pearl was a super weird relationship, a slave falling in love with their master is super JUST NO, people there's a human zoo that's referenced from the early 1900's witch supports my claim that rebecca is racist. There's so many more things I could list but by conclusion this isn't a good show, my favorite character of all time is white diamond but I still think that rebecca just left white to rott after she got her 20 second redemption.
