We're live at the State Opening of Parliament where Queen Elizabeth will deliver the Queen's Speech. The ceremonial event outlines the UK Government's legislative plans. #QueensSpeech Please subscribe HERE bit.ly/1rbfUog
Being an Englishman this is the most pompous thing that we hate, that does not belong to England but a bye-gone time when kings and queens trampled all over people
I'm Mexican and I admire the Queen!!! This woman is so strong and unique. She has worked for England for decades and she is still doing it at her age. Admirable! British monarchy has being the best till now!
That was very interesting.... Traditions will be never forgotten... What a wonderful and clear speech the Queen gave.... She did not sound like she was 91...She takes very good care of herself so her reign will be... that was clear when she took her reign after her beloved Father passed away... She has done a Grand reign one she can be proud of and looked upon for generations to come as Grand and Faithful.... God Bless her.
Not only that...Singapore grew up the British currency of King George VI and his daughter, Queen Elizabeth the Second together with the Malayan Ringgit written in Jawi on the dollar note dated 21st March 1953. English/Malay currency and they were 'separated' resulting Singapore Dollar/ Malaysian Ringgit(1957). So, where is our gratitude today?
Much respect for Queen Elizabeth. The Queen has been through WW2 to present time. A woman of strength and integrity. England, never forget your history to present. God bless Queen Elizabeth!
Very much enjoyed watching this from America. My father was born in England in 1899, and both of us visited the old country in 1958. May The Queen and the British people be blessed in every way. They are a special people in a special country.
Imagine if she put's on the Crown and just sais," I am taking direct control of this shit " and then just dissolve government and declares war on france
@@feelmehish8506 She cannot. Most of her royal prerogatives are controlled by Parliament. The ones she retains she only retains as long as Parliament aggrees.
@@tapele5987 did you not hear what the speech was about, decreasing prices, rasing minimum wages, finding new ways for children to attend schools. Im pretty sure if they are starving is there fualt for skipping school if they put all that in place.
I'm American. I have family members that live in England though. Anyway I just think The Queen is a great and wonderful lady. God bless the UK and The Queen!.
"My lords, pray be seated" such a phrase being said by HM Queen Elizabeth II for many many successive years..She is a real living legend for she devoted her whole life to the service of her own nation..
Not only devoted her whole life, but sacrificed her own personal identity to be Queen. Her sense of duty and her work ethic are beyond reproach. God Save The Queen!
Her sense of service in due regard, but she would have served her country better had she not squandered each and every right she still had. Let's face it, she is no more than a puppet that gives a voice to whatever the unelected, unappointed PM dictates to her.
Fuji Wuji lmao national service, more like national sponging. The nation serves the queen, not the other way round, and it's a joke. As a member of the nation I'd be quite happy to say we've had enough of this 'service' thankyou very much. for just the amount spent on refurbishing Buckingham palace, you could go a decent chunk of the way to ending homelessness in Britain. Service my foot
When you think about it. The monarchy bring in a shit load of tourists, when generates money. They are the biggest tourist attraction in the UK. In my opinion they are well worth the cost to maintain and they are great ambassadors.
@@fujiwuji891 If they did not inherit their wealth, I'd have no problem with them. But they do, our taxes could be used for our NHS, schools, Universities; we could make the UK great by having prosperity, as opposed to austerity.
A German / Greek royal family sets us apart? Hahahhahaha... our culture is mixed with so many other cultures, how can it even be respected. Ridiculous.
kandy kandy a lot of German tho. First Windsor could only speak German so had to have a PM that could translate way back when. But now they are for the most part British
Proud of this monarchial traditions. There are only few countries left with this traditions. One of them which i know is Malaysia. Long live the King of Malaysia.
@@yunjiehong4649 a king wanted to arrest 5 MPs and the alarm got to the House before he did. They locked the door after the 5 ran and the army had to bust the door open. the king saw the 5 gone so he dismissed the rest. they hired own army in response.
At the beginning of each Parliament, the new Speaker always gets the Monarch to promise the Commons' right to freedom of speech in debate, which means neither the Monarch nor her officers can barge in during their business. Charles I did so when he tried to personally arrest five MPs, which is regarded as the start of the English Civil War.
It bewilders me on how some people want the monarchy to come to an end. Having a monarchy has always been apart of England, it's an enormous part of our country's history, it'd be such a shame to see it go. The Queen has done her duty as she served in WW2. Not just that but that fact that England has a monarchy brings in a lot of tourists which means our country brings in a lot of revenue. To get rid of the monarchy would mean we'd lose a lot of 'business' with tourists. I have a huge appreciation for History, it's so fascinating to learn about how people used to live before I was born. Makes me proud to be English.
A Simon Bolivar idea. Head of nations role is just to ensure that the government continues. This day the Queen needs to address her government and report on their plans for new laws.
He is the 6th highest person in England and Wales (not counting the Royal Family). The Speaker only usually wears that robe during the State Opening or other events in Parliament when the Queen herself appears.
I'm always amazed at how loudly & rudely the members of the House of Commons (including the conservatives) make their way to the House of Lords for this occasion. Some of them were still blabbering away as the Queen began her speech. FFS, how many more of these do they think she can carry out? Just ONCE I'd like to see that Black Rod's stick go upside some MP's head.
It's a difficult time for the Queen, and I think PM May is bordering a nervous breakdown with all the tragedies. The massacres in London and Manchester . The inferno in London. And basically, losing at the polls and the final Brexit negotiations. Anyone would be overwhelmed. It's a difficult time in England. May you find peace, God Bless you. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
England needs all the help God can give. A great history, country and people, i wish today everyone living in the country no mater from where would share a common love for the English heritage which is unique and powerfully beautiful, would care more to maintain that Britishness everyone loves and seek when moving to the United Kingdom. God Save The Queen and country.
The monarchy is the most honest institution we have. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than itself. It is honest about what it is, what it stands for and what it represents. Democratically elected politicians, now; they lie, cheat, bribe and graft all the time. Democracy itself is probably the greatest con of all time, besides communism. Our democratically elected politicians in parliament are the true con-artists. They claim to stand for the people, but serve only themselves. They claim to be protectors of freedom - but can walk over the people with unchecked absolute power and with impunity. Just because you can put a little cross in a box every 5 years doesn't mean you have "freedom". Just because you voted for someone to sit on high, doesn't mean that they'll listen to you or care about you. The only time they'll pretend to care about you is 5 years later when they need your little cross again - and then they'll do whatever they like, because they have absolute power over you.
Because the elected politicians ordered them to do it. The UK is pretty much a republic in all but name. The Prime Minister has supreme power with no checking authority, and the Queen has to take any "advice" (RE: orders) the the PM gives, under threat that the monarchy will be abolished as "undemocratic" if she didn't. She has, effectively, a gun pointed at her head by Parliament every hour of the day. Theoretically, the Queen is supposed to be a check on the authority of the PM and Parliament, but because everyone's so brainwashed by the idea that democracy is the only way to ever have freedom, anything the Queen did to rein in the absolute power of parliament and the PM would be "undemocratic" and therefore "anti-freedom". The Queen is supposed to be able to protect the people from the tyranny of the government - but the people didn't like the idea of being protected from tyranny, so we took that ability away from her. And we have only ourselves to blame on that score.
Actually it's the other way around, the Queen tells the PM what to do. The Queen decides all the laws that govern. If she doesn't like a bill that has been proposed to become law, she vetoes it.
No, you've got it backwards. The Queen doesn't tell the PM to do anything. The PM tells the Queen what to do. The PM tells the Queen who to appoint as bishop, and who gets to receive honours. In Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the Prime Minister tells the Queen who the Governor-General (the QUEEN's representative in those respective nations) is to be. They call it "constitutional advice" but in reality, it's an order. The Queen cannot refuse "advice" from her Prime Ministers because democracy rules all. The Queen has no true power veto a bill. If she ever tried to veto a bill, the PM would denounce the Queen as an enemy of democracy and call for the abolition of the monarchy; or at least, to get rid of the Queen's right to veto. This isn't mere speculation on my part. This has happened in two European countries already. When both King Baudouin of Belgium and Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg were both asked to sign abortion laws into law in their respective nations; they both refused on grounds of conscience and morality. Politicians didn't like the idea of someone thinking about laws in terms of conscience and morality (surprise surprise) so, in each country, they removed the monarch's right to veto. Now both Belgium and Luxembourg are now in law democratic tyrannies, with no checks on the system. The Queen's powers exist in name only, which is deeply regrettable - she could only use them in dire national emergency (if the PM go drunk and launched nukes at a hostile power, for example - the Queen would be the only person able to countermand those instructions).
lol! I also half expected the Queen to stop reading and say "f**k this s**t" ...it didnt sound quit right to me and it didnt seem like her heart was in it too.
That day in PARLIAMENTwas a "blue outfit day". Followed by pink day, yellow day, green day etc. HM has been nothing if not consistent since the 1940's. Everyone knows the Royal Family are all privately"remainers" so when the UK does finally BREXIT, will she wear black, or will that be considered "too political"? Not to worry-she still has the COMMONWEALTH(lol)...
@@GFSLombardo yeah sure couple of days before EU membership referendum she wears blue dress with yellow ornaments because it was some blue day.. please dont make me laugh and she clearly wanted to say that she was in favour of remain.. you can guess that from how is she speaking
You mean she was wearing the Common wealth symbols, the 53 states of the empire? www.google.co.uk/search?q=commonwealth&oq=commonwealth&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i59j0l4.3413j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
As an American, yeah, I know, dirty word, I have to give it to the ol' girl, and I mean that respectfully. At 91, is it, she's still able to get around and her mind appears to be lucid. In her long reign, she's seen a lot: MP's and PM's come and go, but she is the permanent fixture of the UK.
Yeah weird that and I mention the word "weird" because she is in her early 90s yet her mind is as you say "lucid" Well, to be fair, my mind is still intact, as well, I'm 105years old and still going strong... But that's life at the end of the day, you either live up to 1years old or 91 years old, it all depends on your brain, or your cells
18:00 They closed the door on the old man and he damaged the door with his fancy stick. They've clearly closed the door on him multiple times previously as the door is fairly damaged in the same area, poor guy.
The slamming of the door in Black Rod's face symbolizes the UK House of Commons' independence from the sovereign. In the opening of the Canadian Parliament, two sets of doors to the House of Commons are already closed when Black Rod arrives. He strikes the outer set of doors three times and someone else strikes the inner set. In the opening of the Australian Parliament, the doors are glass due to the modern architecture of the building. Black Rod does not strike those doors since they are already opened.
I love the classic royalty's way of dressing. Especially the women with a feathered hat and a beautiful dress. Very classy. Eternal Respect for all the good deeds of the Queen. One cannot be totally clean, one cannot be perfect, one can only compromise. She has sacrificed much of her power for the sake of people's freedom and doesn't intervene much nowadays as she has faith in her citizens. We can only try our best not to disappoint her due to our selfish fears, greed, and arrogance. She has accomplished great things during her time that these PM's would never accomplish. Sure she has her dark sides but I like to focus on the good side. Being born in a royal family is very difficult. She didn't ask for it, she just had to take on that role and fulfill it. She is the greatest Queen the UK could have ever asked for ^_^ It is easy to bash others from a comfortable position ^_^
@@westsidertwo It must be hard not having a normal life where you can do what you want. Not her fault she was born into this system and had to carry the burden of the crown.
@@RehabProjectSRCB yes blue dress day and the queen is the only one to wear it xD Also it was couple of days before EU membership referendum.. What a great coincidence... xD
I love all the traditions, the knocking at the door, archaic traditions been going on for hundreds of years! House of Lords so formal, etc. Wish there was a camera by the Royal Guards Band. They are incredible to hear in person.
I'm Irish and republican and think the monarchy is simply an outdated farce but you cannot knock this little old lady - I think Britain should consider letting her take over she seems smarter and more capable than their current politicians to me - I really like her and never thought I would say that - how she conducted herself here on her visit was hugely helpful in reversing attitudes here - she was as I said just a nice little old lady who loves her country - so respect .
dantes inferno I'm in the USA and I agree with everything you say. But what did you think of the vast majority of Irish "staying home" when the Queen visited? Even though I generally like the way the Queen does what she does, I thought the Irish citizens made a solid point in not lining the streets to greet her. That's what it looked like in our press, anyway.
MARC GORDON: Scottish Jacobite traders that traded knives for buckskins and married into the tribes. Fought beside and against Native people's. But many many mixed blood Metis People died for what they believed in the time they lived. From Culloden, to the mutiny at fort Toulouse, through the Seven year War and everything in between and Today. You are Damn right I'm proud of My people. My family. The people of Ulster Irish and Scot, The Scottish Jacobites Refugees, The frickin Metis Mongrel Pirate Culture that developed and tamed this land and built Nations you aren't aware of. More than just a little. I know My connection to the McClellan that was Doctor to Thomas Jefferson. I know the young Surveyor that married a Native girl. And led more than 200 creek warriors against the Georgian Patriots from the Virginia colonies. I know his son who's family would be butchered inside fort Mimms, in an attack led by his brother. I Know the Grandfather that was a doctor trying to save people in South Carolina from an outbreak. And his Son a Doctor who married Dr. McClellans daughter. The McPhersons, and the McGillivrays their sons were Chief Alexander McGillivray And Chief Malcolm Mcpherson. The titles weren't taken by force. And I very Proudly recognize my connection to that Native girl Sehoy III my sixth Grandmother. They were not gentle times. No Participation Trophies. The unwilling and willing I give thanks for their sacrifice EVERY day. And yes again for all the flaws still I say I am very Proud. Mostly Thankful that I'm alive. Besides over 90% of the Mississippian Culture was wiped out by the Spainards.
Valerie Mc Phail: You have to know who you are. To many still don't have perspective concerning Western Civilization. They truly seem to believe Europe just spontaneously sprung out of the Dark ages. Lovely name BTW and an old one. Cheers
dantes inferno totally agree we should not be paying for the monarchy no more aswell they have enough money but that does not mean abolish them they could open there castles like they do with some now to the public and give half the money to the national trust i like the queen she is like you say a lovely woman her loves her country
Thank you Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the second for all your hard work whilst you were with us on Planet Earth. May the good Lord reward your hard work. May you rest in peace. God Save the King.
It's a sign of accepted defeat of the dark, that's why she was not very happy. The LIGHT has won the game for the first time in the history of humanity. . Rejoice
