Well that's what happens in ghettos where shoplifting is so rampant that it prevents a store from turning a profit. That actually happened. Just be glad that Kroger's paid for local resident's bus passes so they could still make it to another Kroger's.

We have several properties in Linden (you actually drive by one of them on 18th) and agree that it is difficult to describe the area. My assessment after 15 years of being in that area regularly is this: It is quite a large area, which is broken into 3 basic parts - North/South/East. Hudson divides N/S while Cleveland is basically the divider between N/S and E. The north end is considered the "best" simply because the homes seem to be better kept on average. They sell for more because of this. The south is much more run down with many of the streets being completely trashed. The city did start the gentrification process a few years ago so you will see several brand new homes being built throughout parts of north and south Linden. East Linden is a different animal. We have 2 properties over there and I'll just say that I wouldn't recommend being an owner-occupant if you value your belongings or any hope of peace and quiet. Overall, just understand that Linden does often rank as the #1 spot in Columbus for crime, so living in north or south linden won't be much better than the east in that respect. But as this video shows, there are some areas that look awful and some that are nice. It truly is a mixed bag.

I think in terms of the lower end of prices of Columbus, Linden is better than West side like Franklington because its so much closer to the job centers north of 270. Thats in addition to being close to job centers downtown. Think people would rather a place where cops leave you alone.
@AskRigs
@AskRigs 4 года назад
Interesting perspective Matthew! Franklinton is indeed another area that is appreciating but I feel from a residential persepctive, Linden dors have more home options and would agree with the overall appeal, at least at this point in time. Franklinton is on the grow though for sure. Thank you for the kinds words too!

Great content as usual Riggs!!! East Linden is the best looking ! Residents seems to care more about the perimeter of their homes. what is the deal with residents not picking up trash debris? Good Grief! If your neighborhood is kept clean everyone benefits with increase home values which creates demand on others wanting to live there. The closing of supermarkets is an indication of the surrounding areas downturn economically speaking.
@AskRigs
@AskRigs 3 года назад
I hear you 100% of people picking up debris, trash, etc.! It's tough seeing supermarket close too in areas because it leaves residents there without. Linden is definitely one of those areas that I have seen that happen and it is so unfortunate but know there is some changes coming to the area that I hope comes sooner than later to further revitalize the area!

Very unfortunate that you know so many that have lost their lives yet I do know there is crime in the area. I do state some of this in my video but also want to remain respectful to the many residents of the area. I know several people who live there as well and that is their home and their community. We all must do our own due diligence on where we choose to live and assess the risks too.
