One of your best investments is your washing machine! . Good choice. Im here on holidays and the food here and drinks are so cheap, why would you need to cook hey! Im doing so much videoing and will be putting together my experiences being in japan. If you're happy with minimal things then thats ok too. Great content cheers Cheryl 😊😎🦘🇦🇺

yes that was such a good deal. How was this cheaper than my Futon ? haha. About the cooking, yeah totally , but I'm starting to crave fresh stuff like salad and fruits, which is expensive in a restaurant in Japan. So I'll soon buy plates and stuff for that. I look forward to your Japan Videos!

Having slept in a ryokan hotel before, futons are surprisingly comfortable. What’s amazing is they can be folded up and stored in a cupboard during the day and hence makes space for your living areas.

This is actually a lesson I had to learn. Like for example with food. I used to order all kinds of extras all the time and then be sad it tastes bad. Now when I order something I go for the basic stuff and its always better (for example just ice cream without any kind of toppings, or just pasta and tomato sauce, without any super crazy ingredients.) Don't know if you can relate haha. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed. What kind of videos would you like to see on this channel?

This was hilarious. I love the garbage pile. Well done on being very practical. I see so many people fill their space up with junk decorations and then have to get rid of it all in a few months. You are so sensible. I am much older and have never traveled. My house (my second) has lots of things in which family members didn’t need and I didn’t have. It was hard to say no. It’s accumulated over the years. I don’t really want any of it but it’s hard to make the decision to get rid of it in case I need it in the future and because of the sentimental attachment. But really I just want it all gone so my place isn’t all full up. I keep trying to shove it all in a couple of rooms I don’t use so that the rest of the place is more sensible and easier to look after. Don’t get in this trap!

Here comes a suggestion that works very well: Get a hallway bench with a big drawer underneath. Put paper bags in it to organize the garbage. It hides everything and you have a bench to sit on. You can put it in the balcony or kitchen. By now you probably have a spoon for the laundry powder. 😅

Also, awesome video! Your place looks nice and minimalistic, very comfortable! :D For future content to produce... well, only you can answer that, but I will mention that I went off Abroad in Japan a bit because his stuff became unrelatable. While he was doing basic stuff it was fascinating, but when he started going on rich yachts and hitting the fancy tourist spots it got a bit boring. Tokyo Lens does amazing content, check him out if you havn't already. Talking of which, he's done a couple videos about digging around the 'Hard Off' range of shops, which are basically second-hand stuff. Might be able to get cost-effective things in them, with some digging?
@bernoGarcia
@bernoGarcia 3 месяца назад
Thanks so much for the advice. I totally feel this. I think Abroad in Japan is a great and entertaining channel but it has become a bit too "sensational" for me. (Which is very good when you are new to Japan and know nothing). I might try a few "sensational" videos here and there, but this wouldn't add much value in my opinion because there are already great creators doing that. I want to add a different side to the "Japan content" field. Tokyo lens I have only checked out a few videos so far but I'll dig more into that for inspiration. About the "hard off" idea, I actually visited a "second hand shop" to get a chair for my desk. Video is in the editing and will come soon. Again thanks for taking the time.

WOW! Only $400! How did you get the electricity turned on? We lived in Osaka and had a smaller old Japanese 1 room apartment with a Japanese squat toilet separate!!! SO you are very MODERN MAN! Lucky! Nihon go musakashi??? I failed to learn the language...but I married a Japanese woman Matsuko who was eager to learn/improve her English. Oooh, one big mistake! When you move into a Japanese apratment you buy little bottles of dish soap or something similar and go door to door and introduce yourself and get to know who your neighbors are!!! ANOTHER VIP THING: thatwall with all the Kanji on it is the door/cover to a ladder for you to be able to escape in an emergency--Matsuko told me that!!! SO...move your rack to dry clothing to somewhere else! ALSO ask someone to tell you HOW to open it! I have never been to Fukoka--what is it like? Large advanced city? PLZ MAKE COMPARISONS TO GERMANY! Maybe that $400 rent is special for students? Are you hoping to become a movie director...or film editor? RSVP Why did you decide to study NIHON GO? Are you allowed to work? Teaching German or English? PS I was alone like you just for a short while when I was teaching English in Matsue-shi, Shimane-ken... Harry Brooks, Gaithersburg, Maryland ps SMILING after enjoying your moving in video and then afterward...

envious that you don't have much. We live in a large 2 bedroom apt here in Canada. My husband & I have been together 26 years, and have collected so much over the years. Working on purging and sorting things now....hard because my husband has trouble letting go of things. Even if he hasn't seen or used it in 10 years. If I had my way, more than half of it would be gone.

I started living here from 1st of April. So I can relate alot to your situation 😂 I also have a corner in my kitchen where I stacked cardboards and plastic. haha I hope I can get them to a recycling center soon. Also, another similarity is that I also don't have much furniture yet. Im trying to keep it simple and economical. I would like to find a sofa tho. So if you have any recommendations for where to find affordable furniture in Fukuoka, I would really appreciate it 😂

Dam that is a very small place to live in. My flat UK South is 2 times bigger and I still find my place to being to small. Guess I should learn how to live in a minimal way like you and most of the Japanese do. Wish I did not buy so much crap for my flat, but now I have all of it, I just can't seem to get rid of any of it. No I am not a junk collector, my floor space is open in all areas, its the furnishings and books (3000+ books) and 800+ DVD's that takes up most of the space. Well done in starting this channel and look forward to seeing how you recycle your stuff in Japan, as here, recycling is not that good at all, most people do not care about recycling at all, which makes sense as loads of plastics with the no.2 or 3 on them can not yet be fully recycled in the UK.

Hey thanks a lot for your comment and support. Same, when I lived in Germany I had a lot of stuff too. Which is not bad, having an everything make a place comfortable. At the same time having little makes me personally feel more "free". I guess finding a balance would be the best right? Have you been to Japan? What interests you about Japan?
