Recently found your channel...love that you're from North Jersey. I'm a New Yorker looking to maybe relocate, and I've been doing a lot of research on both Miami and Fort Lauderdale. I'm an older independent equity and option guy, so I can really go anywhere. I also don't need tremendous hustle and bustle....and being a native New Yorker, I've had my fill of traffic! I really like the fact that Ft Lauderdale gets me closer access to all the great places north to West Palm Beach....a good point mentioned in the video. Like Miami Airport, Ft Lauderdale Airport gets me direct flights to and from NY. For me a very big factor is feeling comfortable with the general political flavor...the west panhandle would not for me. While Miami is democratic....Fort Lauderdale is 90% democratic. Bottom line: I'll be looking for a place to rent in Fort Lauderdale in about 7-8 months. (renting before even thinking of buying) Side Note: You mentioned the big Miami Boat Show.... Fort Lauderdale has the biggest US boat show, and will have the big boats/yachts. Ft Lauderdale is the biggest in-water...while Miami has the big convention center deal. As a "tourist" to both locations, you cannot PAY ME ENOUGH to ever go back to Miami and Miami Beach!!! One word: SNOBS! Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of NYC (used to work on Wall Street pre-9/11) so that may have something to do with it. In addition, I felt that Miami has the largest influx of South Americans, not that I'm a bigot, but I don't speak Spanish and I was treated differently while there. Also, Miami prices are INSANE, as compared to Broward County (restaurants, shops, etc.). I guess, living in a NJ Suburban area for the past 30 years, I'm drawn to the Fort Lauderdale area and that's where I vacation every year, and where I'll eventually move to in the near future.

Fort Lauderdale and Miami have similar bus programs and both have Brightline and Tri-Rail. MetroRail and MetroMover are cool but you gotta be along those routes for work and home to really take advantage of it.

I find Fort Lauderdale very honky tonk. Miami is a world class city and much more upscale in general. I don't think traffic really matters because you never really have to leave if you live in Miami Beach or Brickel. You can walk everywhere.

But in Miami you don’t have to drive north thru Ft. Lauderdale to get to Naples you can head west on 8st that becomes tamiami and then turn right n go north straight to Naples fl with no problem without ever driving thru Ft. Lauderdale so that’s cap

Honestly, I love Fort Lauderdale. It’s big enough, clean, and pretty. WPB is really charming now a days too! Miami is just too crazy for me at my age.

You need to be fluent in Spanish to get a job in Miami-Dade county. If you don't speak Spanish, good luck getting a job.
