Luv ur honesty, been looking at channels for a year now, came across your channel, the information I have gotten is very beneficial. Age 63 semi retired, going to live n my Ford, sedan. Will continue to watch. From Tennessee.
We ended up not going to Quartzsite because we thought it would be too crowded for us 😂 I am definitely an introvert too. I hear you on the vulnerability. Maybe everyone feels it. I feel it in the RTT driving around all the RVs and truck camper beds. Every time I see a car camper I think how freeing it must be to travel so light!
Hi Claire 🙋♀️♥️ I myself probably wouldn't like to go hang there either. Love your little microphone 😊 I do hope your Dad is doing well 🙏 and You and your Family 🙏♥️ Stay Safe as Always ❤ You Always Brighten my Day/Evening 😍
My rig is a F-150 crew cab 4x4 pickup truck with the front and rear passenger side seats removed and a platform bed with 6" memory foam mattress. All the rest of my stuff stays under tonneau cover (fridge, backpacks, etc..). It gets me way past RVs and low clearance vehicles to the best views and seclusion. I'm still very stealthy in urban areas too. I like using a tent mainly for overnight backpacking, but it takes too much time to setup and breakdown for my liking for car camping. You also need to find a flat level spot for a tent and that is usually hard to find. For staying long term in Quartzsite with your rig, a large 4 person tent that you can stand up in would of worked well, but to be honest I would get a different rig like you seem to be leaning towards like a SUV or Truck. That will give you more room, capability and still be stealthy. I hope all is well at home with your family. Be happy, healthy, and don't run out of money.
I agree with you when it comes to feeling lonely. Being alone doesn't mean being lonely. Some of my best times were alone on the river kayaking or on a trail cycling. Some of my worst times were feeling lost or unwanted in the crowd at events . Remember you have us and consider going live to bring us along by the magic of RU-vid when you feel lonely
Thank you for sharing everything on this, your thoughts are super important and how you feel I think resonates with a lot of us (whether just observing the lifestyle like I do, or living it like you do). I would say that the tent you had most likely did not substantially contribute to the lymphoma, but there is NOTHING wrong with doing the right thing regardless of whether or not something had that impact directly. You do right by You. That's the rule and the law for living your life happily. That includes tent materials, how you exercise and what works with you, that includes EVERYTHING! You will always have our support. I think this is the first time I remember seeing that little...microphone? You talk into. I'm also always interested in those sorts of mechanics as well as how well you make the most of life. I'm sorry that the situation was more stressful than you hoped, but I appreciate you sharing it with me and the rest of us. Thank you.
Yes, my microphone is the Rode go 2 pro. I actually got it before I left on my road trip but didn't have a certain adapter. I learned a lot about myself on the trip and it was definitely a good thing. 😊
Claire, remember safety in numbers. On Carol's G.L.O.W. channel recently she mentioned a there was a woman car camping on BLM land outside of Quartzsite had two ATV's driving through her camp and a large stone was thrown through her rear window, The crime is supposedly being investigated.
So much bad stuff had been happening out there lately like that girl who got her windows smashed in. Not my cup of tea but it's good you learned about it and yeah that would be rather challenging in a small car like that.
Hmmmm.... I'm not familiar with Quartsite AZ, but as an introvert myself it sounds hard! I think it's great that you've come up with these solutions! Great video btw.
Hello Claire ❤ your videos. There are several people living out there in their prius campers. Perhaps, check out Bob Wells cheap rv living videos on BLM. More importantly, be gentle with yourself. You are doing an awesome job. You are courage, strong, funny, and kind. If I would have ever had a daughter I hope is would be strong like you. Keep LIVING AND THRIVING. ROOTING FOR YOU 😊🙏 I will be out there next year hopefully 🙏
Just found you on RU-vid. Love the few videos I've seen. I think your self-observation about being better prepared is a good one. Quartzsite in January and February sucks in my opinion. I've been there many times but I avoid the aforementioned months. I would not write off the LTVA'S if you plan on staying put for any length of time. Water, trash and toilets are not to be scoffed at. Again though, I would avoid Quartzsite in the busy months. Best of luck. I will continue to follow your adventures.
My dog died of lymphoma too. Dr. said 1 out of 3 dogs getting cancer now a days so it's probably nothing to do with your tent. I have never been to quartsite but it seems like a place that the majority of people are seniors. Maybe its just because so many youtubers that talk about it are much older than you. But age isn't always a deal breaker when you meet nice people. As far as the toilet, you don't have to spend a lot on that. Many just use a bucket and they sell toilet seats that fit on buckets. I understand about feeling less lonely when you are alone than when you are watching other people be with their friends. Everything you brought up are good points. You might want to check with other you tube van life, car life people to see what other BLM land they go to. Quartsite just doesn't sound that appealing to me. I could see feeling vulnerable at any BLM land by yourself. It might be worth it to pay to stay at camp sites since you are alone. Please be careful.
I'm so sorry about your dog. It does seem like a lot of dogs have cancer these days. 🤔 It is just so incredibly devastating. I think the main issue with a bucket scenario for myself would be dealing with that off grid for days at a time. I realize more people are going the composting route - even going as far to replace black tanks in RVs with them so that's kinda what I'm thinking of. Thanks so much for tuning in!
I never been there, and though it looks fun with other RU-vidrs, I’m sure I would feel the same as you, when I don’t like something I don’t want to try it again. So yeah don’t wast you time there. But you tried it and know you know. Your brave
