In this video, I'll cover the benefits of living in Round Rock, such as the availability of spacious homes with yards and amenities, as well as the challenges, including property taxes and distance from downtown Austin. I'll also look at the downtown Round Rock area, known for its Wild West vibe and modern, trendy nightlife.
You can get a fantastic home in Round Rock from about $400k-$500k. You can get a nice upscale home for a fraction of the price you'd pay in Austin.
The schools in Round Rock are highly rated. Many schools are new construction buildings since the population has grown so much in the past few years. Many of the elementary schools there have won Blue Ribbon awards for their performance.
The downtown Round Rock area has a wild west feel. All the bars and clubs downtown are new inside, with a cool young vibe. Round Rock is known for its famous Round Rock Donuts. Their Texas-size donut is massive. Round Rock donuts are yellow because they use a lot of egg yolks in their batter.
Property taxes in Round Rock are generally higher due to infrastructure development. Many of the new neighborhoods are located far from major highways or stores. Round Rock is relatively far from downtown Austin. Traffic can take more than 40 minutes to get to Austin.
