You are a gifted teacher, you speak plainly and simply. I have never once been confused by any of your instructions. Love this jig, that is a great hook.
Thank you for the compliment my friend, it is greatly appreciated.!!! I agree with you about the hook, I don't think you can get a stronger 90 degree hook in a small size like that.
Excellent teaching on living rubber with no thread base. I was wondering how to do this! Thank you too for taking it all the way to completion. I learned so much from you in this video. Great job always!
Like the mini jig, 1/8 oz with the living rubber & trailer makes it a fat 1/4 -3/16 of a oz is a perfect size for the ultralight spinning and baitcasting rods and reels I use in Houston Bayous, that weight in the slow current allows the bass a longer shot at hitting it after being bounced off the mud bottoms kicking up mud with a couple of pops then glide on a tight line is deadly, even caught a couple Bayou Muskies (alligator gars) on jig & pig setups! But hook sets are tough in that tough boney mouth with all them teeth! Most of the time they fight until they get close to the bank and release the mangled bait! The smaller baits always fish better in heavy fished areas! Nice tie & color combination! One person uses the colored pop tops from those energy drinks punches a hole into them and attachs a thin wired snap and turns small jigs into a mini chatter baits. You could work it on the bottom or swim it? Alot of fishing options with a jig that size? Thanks again!
When do you use rubber skirted jigs over silicone? I’ve always shyed away from rubber because it always melts together. Keep the vids coming I can’t tell you how many smallmouth I’ve caught by copying your color patterns. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make em!
I tend to use silicone most of the time but I do like rubber to give the fish a different look. The rubber seems to work well when fish are more active, they respond to the material having more movement. I will use trial and error a lot, like if there is dirty water I will use a black jig silicone jig and if no bites I'll fish the same stretch with a black rubber skirted jig to see if the fish will show a preference. Thanks for watching and thank you for having faith in my color patterns, most of them I've been using a long time.
That is a 2.5" split tail grub that was custom poured for me. I believe a small company called scared fishless makes a similar one called a stinger craw.
Big Mike, I like round rubber but only because I use rubber when I want a little more action. The difference is round rubber will flare out fast and it has more movement than silicone. Square rubber is very good too. It creates a larger profile with the same amount of material. It has about the same action as silicone and also displaces more water than round rubber or silicone.
Yes, you do have to be careful. You have to make sure you let the jigs dry and don't keep them in the box for long periods like 2 months or more as the rubber will get kinked. I put no more than 4 jigs in a zip lock bag with a little unscented talc and then every week or so I'll give the bag a shake, the talc keeps the rubber from sticking together.
@@hairyfrank9177 Yes, it holds the weed guard in. Remember, to glue the weed guard in you need to use the super glue gel control. If you use the regular brush on super glue on the weed guard it will wick up the fiber and turn the weed guard white from the residue. Brush on for use as head cement and gel control to glue in weed guards.
smalljaw thanks for the information. I love your tying videos and I hope you will continue posting them. I would love to see more and more. I have been tying flies for trout for more than ten years but recently started tying for my bass fishing which is my favorite thing to fish for.

Well You Tube did away with the private message feature, I'm sorry but I didn't know that. As I said before, go to Tackle Underground and send me a message there, I can't put my email address on a public forum.
