I just got the 2017 SVR convertible and enjoying it very much. I agree with just about everything you say right down to the sound system. I am coming out of 2014 M6 convertible which I loved to death but it was my 4th one and the 2018’s are exactly the same with no upgrades whatsoever and a lot more money than what I was paying. So I started looking for something different and stumbled across the Jag which I have always admired but really didn’t know that much about it. Anyway the bottom line is after my first 350 miles or about a week now here are my thoughts. The radio is not great and was shocked that it wasn’t as good as the stock M6 which was certainly better. I didn’t even have the upgraded one and still was better then the jags. The saving grace is the exhaust that I would rather listen to anyway! The convertible has very little trunk space and I know it’s going to bother me when I cannot do something like go play gold with my son. I don’t think there is enough room for even one full size golf bag but certainly not two! The coupe is definitely better looking and much more trunk space but I still would rather have the convertible because it’s just more fun and the sound is that much better. The steering wheel although it is nice it’s not quite as nice as the M6 much thinner and the handling I am not quite sure as of yet which one I like better but I think the Jag could be tighter and a little harder to turn. It’s a little mushy for all that horsepower and I am very surprised at that. The car is much more nimble which I love. The M6 feels like a boat in comparison and much heavier feeling. The 4 wheel drive will be a major plus especially in the inclement weather which if there was any chance of snow the M would not move I have gotten stuck numerous times so I am really looking forward to driving in some snow. I am not crazy about how much lower the Jag is then the Bmw. I have hit bottom on small inclines which sucks. All in All I am very happy so far the compliments are plentiful. The best thing about the Jag so far is just how rare they are. I would see so many more BMW’s I have yet to see another SVR convertible and I love that. Nobody knows what an SVR is which is fantastic. Lastly the permanent wing is a bit of an eye soar much prefer the coupe or I think the R convertible goes down flush which I love. But I guess there is no really way of distinguishing the SVR from the R without the wing so I am trying to get used to it. Sorry for the long comment but I did enjoy your video very much! I would love to hear your thoughts on the SVR convertible.

You and I literally did the same thing. I got my F-Type R after I had placed an order for an M3 and realized the price had come down a bit on the under of the year model F Types. I also had a BMW before it. I’ve absolutely loved mine so far. I’m at 12k miles and second set of tires. You’re right though, the performance isn’t quite at the Porsche level. I test drove a 911 Turbo(not Turbo S) after I got the Jag and was pretty blown away by how that thing handled. I’d still take the Jag because of the looks and soundtrack any day.

Nice video! Love the F-Type R in black, I have a 2015 R in white, I've had it almost 3 years now, I still look forward to driving it everyday! I had an XJ before the R, and a 2009 Carrera 4s before that. The Porsche was great, but the Jaguar has a much better interior and is faster. Not to mention it also sounds 100 times better! It also has tons of gripp, you just have to be judicial with your right foot!

I had the F type as a courtesy car for a week. It is a nice car and the exhaust noise it makes, ooh boy, it is awesome. There is so much power being sent to all 4 wheels and it gathers pace ferociously. However the handling is not as good as the competitors like Porsche to BMW. The interior of the car looks very nice too, the leather on the seats and the leatherette dash board looks great. However, the electronics could have been better. The user interface is not the most intuitive to use. The central display in the speedometer binnacle looks crisp and clear with a nice font. However, the touch screen display on the dashboard has a different font and the display inside the climate control knob uses a third kind of font (a dot matrix type)!!! C'mon Jag, did you get a few schools kids to design the fonts in your car and someone else put it all together!!! There is ambient lighting, the colour of which could be changed... however, the colour of the lights of the door trim and the central tunnel change but not the lights near the door opening levers....!!! Jaguar... you do need better attention to detail. Hope Jag pays attention and doesn't make school boy errors on future models! Having said all this, one could just buy this car to enjoy the exhaust note. it is addictive, the V8 soundtrack!

It's not the fastest car. You can definitely get a faster car for the money. What makes this car amazing, is the looks. Plain and simple. It's the follow-up to the E-Type. Which Enzo Ferrari called, "the most beautiful car ever made." The f-type definitely gives it a run for it's money. A great example of good car design, also being good art.
