I would say yes, but that’s because my daughter LOVED them and didn’t enjoy the readers that came with the program. There is some handwriting, and grammar that is used straight from the books so also for that reason I’d say yes.
@@LetTheMorningBringWord My daughter, who I home schooled decades ago, is now schooling her daughter. Her 2nd grade dislikes some of the books such as Little Bear , which is really more for K level in my opinion. She substituted books all the time. My granddaughter loved the Frog and Toad books. You simply look for what is wanted in the lesson. You can always point out punctuation, pronouns, adjectives... in any book.
I paired this grade 2 LLATL with Climbing To Good English level 2. The latter adds more practice with grammar, punctuation, and writing practice. It is a good combo in my opinion.
HI there! I realize this comment is late but im wondering- the readers- do the children read those on their own? Or do you read them to them? And for the read-aloud books (eg fire cat), are there activities connected to those books or are they just "extra" suggested reading? Thanks!
Hi there. I wanted to ask you my son will be in second and from what I can see and have researched some people use this for 1st grade. Is this a slower pace curriculum? I did look at the placement test and my son knows all the reading for yellow but not all the Grammer a big chunk he knows nouns verbs what a sentence is. He did the good and the beautiful k so I just wasn't sure if this will keep him on track. Hope I'm making sense. Thank you!
Jessica Lira Hi, it doesn't seem slower at all just different from what I compared of the two. I think that is true that some people use blue book for kinder and red in 1st. But looking into Kinder for my son and blue book looks like a good fit but we will need to slow the pace midway because it will be a little advance at some point IMO. So in red book they will still cover phonics, (hard c soft c hard g soft g spelling rules like double the last consonant and add -ed things like that) and lots of reading opportunity which is a plus for us. Sight words, choosing the correct word to complete a sentence. Grammar concepts include identifying common and proper nouns Pronouns. Plurals, hyphens, apostrophe for contractions ,compound words homonyms, synonyms suffixes prefixes Context clues reading comprehension Writing sentences. The readers are integrated into the work. They have copy work for writing and also handwriting letter practice and built into the lessons but we will use additional handwriting program because my daughter is use to a different print style. It seems really comprehensive and complete from what I've seen. We won't officially start this until July but that's my thoughts on it so far. Hope it helps some. (Typed this a little fast, please forgive any spelling errors :)
C T I think in another video she switched to Masterbooks Language Lessons for a Living Education and then in an update she said that they were setting that aside for a while and she was continuing to use a mixture of things like Explode the Code, Evan Moor, etc. I don’t think she mentioned what she will use this year for 2020-21 tho.
I’m sorry I didn’t reply to these comments sooner but, yes, I loved this curriculum my daughter was not a fan of the readers but loved the read aloud books. We made some adjustments. And dropping the readers made it hard to complete some of the assignments because they go hand in hand. Why the readers didn’t work? My daughter didn’t enjoy the illustrations and the black and white. Some of the illustrations scared her (specific to my child) not saying that there was anything wrong with them.
MamaBiz Hi there! We haven't started this curriculum yet. We start the new school year in July but what I can gather so far is that it will likely take about 30 mins but that depends on the child and the lesson break down for a particular day. It seems very flexible so I can see easily adjusting it to fit the needs of the child without issue. Hope that gives you a rough idea, and I'll know more once We get rolling with it. TFW!
Yes I do recommend it and yes she did improve but she wasn’t a fan of the readers mainly because of the illustrations and black and white and dark tone drawings.
We're only 1 lesson in and it's gone well this far. Lessons are long for my girl so we spread it out over 2 weeks, which isn't the norm I don't think? I'm anticipating once we get the hang of the format it will take less time to get through a lesson. So far though it's great!
we started this same book about 2 weeks ago and although I love the concept of the curriculum getting used to the format has been very frustrating. Because the teachers book is a different format I am constantly having to look at the student book just to figure out where I am!

Wanting 2 Learn You're very welcome and thank you for watching! Good question- I'll actually be giving my daughter the placement test soon. I just want to wait until she is done with her current LA program to see if she will place in Yellow book or Orange book for the coming school year.
Hi! This seems to be a good curriculum, and those books look amazing 👌 I have two daughters who love to read, 5 and 7 years old. I would like to see how is lesson in a normal day with this curriculum 😃 Blessings 🤗
Homeschooling Free & Happy Genius Our children are just about the same age:) I will definitely do a lesson walk through soon, can't wait! Thanks for watching.
