I wish you would have read more of the article, but I will look for it. I went to a black dermatologist who told me to use the men’s Rogaine 5%. I’ve been doing that. I also am pushing my reties out to 8 weeks. This last time I went 10 weeks, but my loctition had to marry a few locks because we waited too long and some of my locks began breaking away. So we are back to 8 weeks. The dermatologist also recommended a medication called spirolactone (not sure of the spelling), but my primary care doctor advised against it because it can cause damage to my kidneys. He said if I insist on taking it he will begin monitoring my kidneys more often. I opted not to go that route. So I’m sticking with just the rogaine and like you, the massaging and light oils. There is a lady in London who teaches a course on knotting the locks by video for people in the United States. No tools needed, because we just use our hands to knot each lock at the base. She says it gives maximum fullness to thin locks, stops the thinning caused by interlocking. Her name is Melissa Blake. Not sure if you’ve heard of her. I’ll be locked 5 years come January and I’m still seeing scalp in my crown area. It fills in some the closer I get to my retie, but afterwards I’m back to showing scalp. I’m almost considering shaving off my locks, but for now still working on my scalp. I like how you wore your locks to one side. Very pretty. I will be 5 yrs come June and I feel like my middle part is widening. I want to be proactive on the thinning bc I know it’s a real concern in the loc community especially with women. I have decided to join the knotting community and will be sending my info to Mrs. Blakes in January. I’m very excited about this transition as I know this will be more beneficial to the health of my locs overall.

I never thought to use men's Rogaine 5%. I may look into that. For me I retighten between 6-7 wks that seems to work for me. One being it keeps up with the integrity of the loc and I make sure I'm not retightening too tight. Yeah 10 weeks is way too long! Sisterlock only recommends out to 8 wks at the most. Also when it comes to those medications, It's definately best to make sure there aren't other side effects. Effecting your kidneys is serious business. Yeah I'm sticking to my routine + I'll look into adding the rogaine as well. In regards to Mellisa Blake in London, yes I have know of her since I started my loc journey 7yrs ago. I subscribe and texted back and forth with her on many occassion when she still had Sisterlocs. I told her if I lived in London, she would be my loctician! ha I have heard of her new method but I haven't looked into it yet. Like you it has crossed my mind to cut my locs but I'm not quite there at this point. Thanks for the compliment, I try to change it up here and there.
