It's been a long time coming, having the cabin partially dried in is a big accomplishment. Thank you all for watching and following me on my journey.

Absolutely Stunning. This really hit home with me. I've watched hundreds of build videos, always thinking of how I'd use my sawmill to build EXACTLY this style. I'm going to have to improve on that R value for West Virginia though. Thank you for the inspiration to simplicity and resource optimization.

I’m gonna use rock wool insulation, it should be close to r 23. I would like to have r 40 but that ain’t happening. Good luck with yours and thanks for watching and commenting.

Spray foam can give you R30 in 2x6’s
@oldbluffsawmill5235
@oldbluffsawmill5235 9 месяцев назад
You could actually step up to 2x8’s for rafters to increase your R value. Just an idea

That really looks great, and it's amazing how you do most of it alone.

Chris helped nail some decking on but I had to go back and fix it. You know I’m kidding he did good. Your place is looking good. #chiggerpoint

I couldn't figure out why you didn't have overhangs on the roof and why you would span the trusses with a 1" board; THEN you mentioned the REAL rafters going on next and it all made sense. The cabin is looking great. Looking forward to squatting there once you get it finished. Dave

You’re welcome anytime Dave. All insulation and wiring will be in the conventional roof system. I’ll deck it with 1 1/2x6 boards, they will create the overhang sections. The way I’m doing it conceals the look of two roof systems. I wanted the trusses for openness inside. Thanks for commenting.

You did a good job on the East gable and the West gable but I didn't see any reference to the Clark Gable. Why is that?

Did you dry your roof decking or was it green when installed? I'm thinking of doing the same with regular boards vs t&g on my cabin, but I'm curious how those joints may separate or move around over time. Keep up the good work!

They sat up for 3 months but got rained on several times. I wouldn’t worry about it because you can mail them up to the finish rafters. It’s really worked out well. I’m about to do another video on it. Thanks for watching

Which woodmizer do you have to cut the 31’ beams?
@oldbluffsawmill5235

I have an LT50 wide. It will only handle 20’ logs, but I let some hang off and then slid it up. I did a video on it.
