"Ask your fucking IPhone" is such a cold line. Logan forced Kendall to become a killer and now he's suffering the consequences that his own son won't help him from almost dying because he wants to get ahead on the business. Logan actually gives up here and asks Ken for water. That's as "You're my son. I need your help" as it gets for Logan. And Kendall turns on him. "Ask your fucking IPhone" is such a fuck you and gets down deep into the dynamic that has always been. Kendall has watched Logan be on his phone his entire life. Connor said the same thing at Austerlitz. That line is like Kendall saying, "Don't act like you've been a good father. Deal with it." The writing on this show is second to none.
For those wondering, Josh was playing both of them. He noticed Logan was struggling to walk and was waiting for Kendall to make the right call or for Logan to give up. Neither one made the right decision so that's why Josh says they're "fractured at the top" and why he's seen hugging Stewy later on.
I don't think Josh was playing them though. Why risk making an old guy faint from difficulity in walking? Seems far-fetched for him to come up with a plot like that when he can easily pull out.
In the first episode, Kendall is given the choice of either securing a business deal or attending his father’s birthday, he chooses the latter. By being a “good son,” he fails his father’s test. Here he chooses not to be a “good son” and is more focused on making a deal with Josh. This was yet another test for Kendall, which he failed.
@@williamhenning4700 We KNOW how the fanbase of the show treats him? I suppose watching shows like this can help me research Office Politics before it becomes real. And Dallas and Columbo have helped me in the past.
@@williamhenning4700 Yes, I ended the career of an evil boss who tried to end mine. And most Gen X wouldn't know about Dallas or Columbo so I have the advantage
He should’ve made up some excuse and wait for the cart instead of walking. He’d rather die in the desert than to look weak. Just like he’d rather die than to see Ken at the top
I don't know, I would say that half smirk in the S2 finale hints that he actually does want Kendall to take his place, at least more than the other options. Except the only way Kendall would be proven worthy is by finally becoming a full-blown killer and actually destroying his father. So Logan is giving him his hardest fight: if Ken actually wins it means he's ready; if he doesn't, he gets to rule for a bit longer. Win-win. This is coming from someone still at ep. 4 so I don't know what happens yet, I might be dead wrong
@@TheSleigherKing What does it matter? Josh knows that Logan is an old man not an athlete, everyone knows he can't take a hike. Logan should've come up with an excuse.
It actually makes sense, though. It's the quick way, but sometimes it gets longer, like if you're stubborn, elderly ("600 years old"), have had a stroke, bickering with your son, have too big of an ego to ask for help/admit when you're wrong and apologize. It's a quick way, but sometimes it get longer = your emotional baggage as father and son is really slowing down what is supposed to be a quick walk.
This scene is probably the best scene of the show. Finally father and son are talking sincerely and they’re bringing out their knives to kill each other. Brilliant storytelling and amazing acting.
Great scene. Josh is testing the two of them to see how they will react to this stupid situation. Logan is too proud to ask for the cart. And Kendall is too dumb to realise he should just say he wants one, which would resolve the situation.
I think Kendall has some of his best lines in this scene. “Look at you, you’re 600 years old and you’ve pissed off your f***ing boyfriend, the president” “Ask your f***ing iPhone” Just perfect writing all around.
Josh is playing both of them. He knows that those two are not in good relationships and he's testing them by walking. As he's expected, Logan refused to take a cart as he's too proud of himself and refused to get help while Kendall who's still pissed at Logan because of his betrayal on Season 2 Finale finally losing it. They both tried to play it cool only later, with this long walk they finally showing their true colors. Josh has enough and he decided to allign with Stewie and Sandy as he hugs Stewie in the end. The Roy's ego is too big, it's becoming their downfall.
I swear I need to watch each season 2-3 times to pick up certain motives of each character. “Think about your dad right now” great line. He figured out what he needed to figure out about the company. Incredible scene.
I saw adrian say in an interview that he chose the layers on purpose to make it known that he was more prepared than them.. if it’s cold he has protection if it’s too hot he can drop a layer. He’s one step ahead while they see him as less than for his attire, but in the elements, he’s at an advantage. (them trying to hike in their fancy ass dress clothes was funny lol) he probably wasn’t trying to kill him but i think he certainly wanted to push them to their limits. To see their relationship for what it truly is… i mean he has to tell kendal to worry about his dad rather than worry about how he’s perceiving them. He sees what matters most the family now.
Kendell lacked awareness and care for his dad to see the bigger picture. Logan can only blame himself for breeding such self-centered and insensitive children.
I would prefer Stewie and Sandy to win than for Logan to triumph over Kendall. Don't get me wrong, Kendall is broken in 50 million ways but out of all of the siblings, Kendall is the most human.
The extended part of this scene IMO was to show how Kendall is still weak. Not saying Logan wasn't faking it. But even if he wasn't, it could still be used as a power move after he is better showing Kendal doesn't have what it takes to be CEO. Kendall wasn't out of the will at this point, loosing Logan would have been the ONLY loss. And again...Kendall proved he wasn't a killer to Logan, an consequently not worthy. idk just trying to imagine what it would be like from the writers point of view
This is another sh*tty moment of Kendall's life. Call for a cart halfway through the trail and say it is for yourself so your father saves face. This is REALLY standard for any decent person.
