Wow, I just got this game today and I have to say, this tutorial is super helpful! I went from $11,000 after selling everything and buying basic lumber equipment to $285,000 in one truck load just in the hour I watched the tutorial! You have def earned my subscription and my thanks. Before watching this I was lost as to how I could possibly make any money to get started. Thanks again!!
Step 1: Buy a Scorpion King Step 2: Go to nearest logging pond Step 3: Buy and place bunch of "FIR" trees as near as possible to the pond (you can find fir trees under the section placeables. they are 7k per tree and they are huuuuuge.) Step 4: Cut a tree and take it over the pond, cut to the logs of 8 meters. The logs will fall straight into the pond and therefore you get the money. Step 5: Repeat step 4 until you are out of trees. Step 6 When you are out of trees, go back to step 4. Notes: I tried cutting the logs in 5 meter lengths and also 1 meter lengths. Piece of advice: dont cut them in 1 meter lengths. It gives you les money and also it is really time consuming. 8 meter gives you more money and requires less time. Now to the economics: a tree costs you 7k. Let's say you bought 10 trees. You are -70k on money. A tree that's cut in 8 meter lengths makes 28k in normal difficulty. When you've cut all of the trees you have 280k. Minus 70k and 210k is your profit right? No. You can sell the tree stumps for 3.5k each. So 245k is your final profit. By the way, cutting 10 trees takes aproximately 6-8 minutes depending on how well you you use the Scorpion King. I've made huge amounts of money this way. But the thing is, it gets freaking boring after 100 trees or so. Personally I find it more pleasing to feed my 500 cows. P.S. English is not my mother tongue so there might be some errors in my spelling, grammar, etc. so, sorry about those in advance.
i usually dont like videos about this (but i really needed to know how) and idk man theres something about u that makes it interesting. KEEP UP THE GOOD VIDEOS BRO!!
love your vids...@34:15 I hate the Dolly though...every trailer I use that needs a Dolly I attach a Semi Truck to it... You don't need a Dolly for a truck...and the Truck is about 400HP which is more then enough to tow that log trailer.
+B.S. Hokke Yeah - but the truck is also 200,000 bucks and and the dolly is less than 20,000 :) - But I agree, if you can afford the truck, its the way to go.
Ifert you do not use a front end loader to load the boxes of staplings onto the planta just hit one of the buttons in the box automatically is put on the planter.
hi Arthur, I have enjoyed your videos for awhile now. FYI there is a small mod available called "Measure Mod" that allows you to basically measure anything in game. You simply press left alt and right mouse button and "walk" in the direction you wish to measure, the distance shows at the bottom of the screen. Keep up the good work. many thanks ....
+shybear575 Aha - Yes, I have heard of that - Its actually a great mod. I try to keep it stock for tutorials though so that it makes sense for console users.
Yes, but you make double the money if you use the train. If you are on a map that does not have a log train, then dumping in the pond is the fastest way for sure.
+warDOG420111 They are the same trees I showed in the video, just taller. If you watch the growth stages the trees I cut down will eventually grow to the height of the fir trees, BUT you have to plant them. The ones that are already on the map don't grow. The ones you plant do.
Real loggers just cut down trees around the lumber yard pond, get the combine and push the entire thing into the water, then replant as close as possible.
Logging has allowed me to buy every tractor so far I don't have the wood chipper yet I started out buying all the bigger expensive tractors my game isn't the full game I still need to download the other dlc from the playstation store
I load the sapling palette on trailers and the planters are exhausted just drive the palletes near it. It works far better than load them one at a time.
Correction, with the tellahandler it is possible to pick up those small logs with it, but its ALSO a pain in the ass, so either way I agree with the front loader
Arthur... You need to do more FS videos. You seem to get more views on them also. Most of the time I'll just put on your videos, turn on FS on my Xbox and watch/ listen to you talk. haha A lot of times I'll watch your Truck Simulator videos just to listen to you talk! haha it might be weird, but I like listening while I play.
+bsuquery A LOT of people do that. There are more coming - don't worry. I record them in groups, so for a while you see more of once series and then another. I did a bunch of FS last night.
I wasn't being a dick - I was just pointing out that was not the point of the video - I apologize that you took my comment as being rude, as that was not my intention
Arthur Chapman it's ok, not ur fault it happens and thanks for apology not many wud do tat and sry I'll subscribe and great video it's jst I'd thought I'd share my tip with people tats all
Its one of the tough things about "non-verbal" communications - its hard to "hear" what someone is saying when you can't see their face or hear their voice :). Glad to have you aboard Spetznaz and welcome to the channel!
Hey I just bought one of the base tractors from the main ps3 version of the game the red case tractor with the tank treads it has the most hp but I cat seem to pull anything with it for example any normal size tipper or can't pull any of the balers what can you pull with it
Heavy implements. The big case is only compatible with plows, seeders, cultivators and so forth. To get around that, you can get a weight, put it on the case, and then attach the tractor.
@@Vbluguitar thanks yeah I realize that now that the weight acts as a different hitch for bigger tractors I was able to pull the agroliner tipper I heard you say that you can pull multiple tippers how do you do that
You should try the stompgrinder on the JCB Skidsteer...that's a Gem. I combined fields 36 and 37 by cutting down those trees. and plowed the fields together.
@@Vbluguitar the funny thing is on ps3 the trailer tipped itself right-side up by itself after I tipped it over at the moment I'm playing on the byornholme map I'm trying to feed my cows but it won't let me scoop the silage out it goes right through the bucket any idea why that would be
the t4 is the powerstar right? I don't use that one but the next size up from the smallest new holland for my front loader rig. throw a weight on the back and go for it. that seems to be the easiest way to move logs in the game for me. very glad you did this video by the way. great work as always my friend. much respect.
+Todd Moore Yes, the T4.75 is the smallest stock tractor in the game, its part of the NH powerstar series. The T6.160 is the one you are using. That is largest default front loader tractor in the game :)
+Arthur Chapman alright I wasn't sure what number it was. I like the looks of the orange one but it dosent function as well for me as the bigger NH for front loader duties
I want start logging in start of game. But tractor have very small grabbing hook so i can't put wood in my wood trailer.I tried with mod, but every mod didn't work in game.Help?Sorry for bad english...
In FS 15, you will have to buy a New Holland T4 tractor + arms + grapple and a weight for the back. That is really the only way to do logging at the start in 15
@@Vbluguitar I tried many times, but nothing.I tried with mods but every mod is not working, i searched on forums and many people have same problem...But whatever, i love your videos, you are helped me too much thank you :)
I hate the physics of logging in this game.. The tree will not roll like that, the grappler will not shift the tree in it (lots of pressure in there using hydraulics FFS), the logs will not slide all the way out the back, A tractor can run over and destroy a simple little wooden fence. Is this a simulator because it is a pretty sore excuse for one..
While I agree with you that the logging is aggravating, I must point out that it is a farming Sim, not really a logging sim. Its basically a side dish on the main course, that you don't have to eat to finish the meal...
Hi Arthur, Just wanted to know something about the tree seeder, does it plant a specific type of tree or random trees? I dont think it was mentionned in the video? Thanks
+ASAP Slide It only plants the tall straight fur trees, which are what you want to be harvesting anyways. You can buy other types of trees under "placable objects"
I love these video's. I find them the most useful of all the other video's out there. I just have about 120 hours of play time in the game so far so I still have a lot to learn but I managed to just start to get a bit of a knack for getting the non-pine trees to fall into the back of the big yellow forestry thingamajig. I set a goal for myself to try and clear-cut the entire Westbridge map. So from what I gathered there's no mods or multiplayer for the PS3? Does the game have a map editor by any chance? Anywho great video's Keep up the great work.
+Jim “CromwellsWorld” Gordon Yes, you are correct on the "no mods for consoles" thing - none of them get mods. The map editor is called "giants editor" and should be available from "farming-simulator.com". I have used it once, and its a bit confusing, but I was able to remove things from the map. Then I screwed up the terrain... BAD :)
Arthur, You mentioned the Steam Controller. Did you download a profile to set up the FS2015 controls? I was somewhat frustrated when I tried the controller and FS2015. Great tutorial. I wish I had seen it a few months ago.
+Walter McCannon Glad to be of service - I set up my own profile for the Steam Controller, and then had to remap everything in the game - it wasn't pleasant or easy, but now its working well and I have no issues.
I've been using the Stepa and it sucked at first. Then I got used to it and I like it a lot. I just wish it was bigger. IS there a mod for a bigger all in one trailer? Oh...I'm using a mouse and keyboard btw xD
Haha. I tired your method with the vanilla loader and I got rid of it. I had to go with the smaller one that has the reach and it's awesome. Not sure which I prefer though
I am not sure that you can in 15. In fact I am pretty sure that you can't I think the small New Holland T4 is the first tractor that can get arms. If my video (sorry, I made this a long time ago and don't remember) had an "armed" Deutz, it was probably a modded tractor.
+Arthur Chapman a guy showed me yesterday, be folded the arm down and maneuvered the cutter so it was facing sideways parallel to the log and was able to pick it back up, also when using the wood chipper if you are in a session with two people you can place a while fur tree into the feeder of the chipper and it will chip the entire tree without having to use the awkward arm on the chipper
The stepa is a pickup trailer, and the scorpion is a woodcutter - Do you mean the Scorpion vs the Sampo Rosenlew? If so the Sampo only cuts down small trees, so the scorpion is way better.
Can somebody please help me I'm new to the game and the log grabber I'm having trouble hooking up to the tractor I know that it hit the letter a but do you put the thing on the tractor down or up cuz no matter what I'm doing it's not hooking up can somebody please help me
Are you sure you bought the log grabber for the tractor? There is a log grabber for the telehandler and the frontloader too. If you have the wrong one it won't attach so I am thinking that is what is going on.
@@Vbluguitar I'll check it out tomorrow when I wake up I'm new to the game so I've got a lot to learn thank you for the help if I have any more questions you know I'll be coming back
Hi Arthur nice video. The Damcon tree-planting machine is auto loading and you refill it like a normal seeder, stay close to the pallet with the saplings and press refill. A mod you really need to try is the inspector mod, You will like it.
thanks man, I've been loading up the big long 18 wheeler logging trailer with logs and once I get to the lumber yard I unhook beside yellow rectangle then I have a big tractor with a loader arm always parked there and I use it to tip the whole trailer over, it always flips right back upright on its own
Definitely - and now the logging is even easier in FS17, so it should work just fine. Heck, you could just keep the regular stuff, cut down trees and through the logs into the back of a tipper. You don't really need any logging stuff but a chainsaw if you aren't in a hurry.
Arthur, a suggestion for PC users who want to use scorpion. If you go to your game files, find "data/vehicles/steerable/ponsse" Find the "ponsseScorpion" XML Document and open it with notepad. Near the bottom you will find a line "" I changed the "8" to "12" This cuts logs to the perfect length for the big logging trailer and gives you more money per log per log.
+Chris Feenstra Haha - simple fix. I love when you can change a game by editing text files :) Back when I was a teen you HAD edit text files to get most games to work, because of DOS with its Extended and Expanded RAM settings.
You can also load the chipper with the Scorpion and jump to the tractor and move it back and forth with the feet down to control rolling. Only works with pine trees, but way easy to make money fast
+Arthur Chapman Let's try to enjoy Holmer first before FS17 comes out. Though from what I've seen, the harvester just is not doing it for me. Though I will have to wait until Thursday of Friday to find out.
I would say most things are slightly better in FS17, especially because you can pick smaller logs up by hand. If you want to see some FS17 logging check out my goldcrest playlist. We do a lot of logging throughout that series.
Hi Arthur ! me again, I couldn't find a clear explanation on how to remove trees from my land. I want to expand my fields so the trees needs to be removed What is the best way to get rid of them? that is, what is the minimal equipment I'll need to remove them? Is FS 19 the same as FS15 in that regards? can you advise on the cheapest way to remove them? There are good articles on that like guides.gamepressure.com/farming-simulator-19/guide.asp?ID=47984 But it mainly covers the tools and what the game has - hard for me to decide :\ Appreciate your advise! Thanks
You will need a chainsaw and a stump grinder - just cut it down, grind the stump and haul it away - all done! 19 is even easier because you can cut the tree up into small logs and toss them in the pickup.
Some of the loading wagon are for chaff, so they have have higher sides. They are designed to work with a chop harvester (forage harvester) that flings the product over the top.
@Arthur Chapman Oh ok I see now thanks for telling me I was wondering why you said a combines spout didn't fit over some wagons I was hoping the wagons weren't useless and and ment to be used with some other tool I was able to use the plow and plow over a dirt road and join a field to another but when part of the road still stuck out I tried plowing it then planting grass to make an edge by the field the road was still there I wouldn't let me plant the grass
By oak and just push them in the pond you make like 50k And when you got enough money you by the truck with the timberrunner scorpionking and a teleloader or tractor with a log fork and then you plant fir’s in a field so it becomes more efficient
+James Campion Good point - you can make a lot of money with that setup quickly too - Heck, at 40k, you wouldn't even need to sell any tractors - you could just take out a loan for 45k (even on hard mode you have 50k available) Great, now I am going to have to make an addendum... :)
+Arthur Chapman Great video, but James Campion is right. Your method of loader and trailer isn't that cheap. I ran some numbers and as shown in game it runs 138,000. Switching to the T4 runs it at 97,000. Now if you use the Stepa you just need to buy the trailer and a chainsaw as your the maps starting Agrostar or Zetor Crystal are enough to pull a full trailer. This being the case your bill is only 55,000. But say you have nothing at all, and need to add a tractor, adding the Agrostar bring your total up to 106,000. So even then the Stepa route is cheaper, assuming you go for the power of the Steyr, as I think the T4 is under powered to pull that lumber trailer if it was full. So you may find the Stepa hard to use, but that is subjective, as I find the cranes to be rather easy to use, and I am easier using them. Also the chipper and Ponsse Buffalo both use cranes so it pays to get good with them if you are making Forestry your main source of income.
TheJadeStorm87 I will say this though. For me, I find that I can load almost 3x as fast with the front loader, AND I don't have to re position the trailer every time a log is out of range. The stepa is cheapest, but I can make WAY more money WAY faster with a front loading tractor.
