Also, with the same equipment for sheep husbandry you can do the missions on the standard maps. IE, a tractor with a mower and the forklift. It can makke you a lot of money quickly, more if you collect the grass on the mowing missions.
We have beef cattle, and on an auction day to sell calves, we can usually make 10,000 dollars if all our females produced good calves so we can get like 700 per calf
So I was curious about the cows and took a look at it on my game, and I think I made it successful right from the start, not very successful, but I'm pretty sure it would keep you in the black. What I did was harvested and sold the wheat field (left the straw). Sold off everything excluding the tipper. Bought the NH T6 with arms and bucket, the front mower and the euroboss wagon. Collected the straw and layed it down as bedding and gathered enough grass for a portion of silage. Once fermented I had enough money for 35 cows. From what I saw I would have made a profit of 800-1,000 per day.
Arthur Chapman It really is and with my testing on hard cows are not a get rich quick scheme. There is too much work for too little profit unless you are feeding them mixed rations. You may be able to be more profitable on easy and normal, but cows are more a supplementary income early on.
TheJadeStorm87 My point exactly - you could do it, but its not worth it. However - once you get a little extra money (probably day 2 or 3, you can buy some cows, a mower and a collector. You can feed them silage and collect a couple extra bucks a day. As your income grows you herd can grow slowly with it.
Love your channel so much, I can't see if you already have a video, but if not could you make a video of your favorite mods, vehicles, tools, animals, etc. I struggle finding what mods are popular on the sites i have found.
At the start, it is better to sell all your tractors and buy one that runs cheaper, buy less cows (25 seems to be an okay starting number). You should only need to fill the trough with grass ONCE, because you can put excess grass into the silage bin, make silage and feed that to the cows.
+nekio15 Would you sell or hold on to your harvester? - see, I feel like 25 cows on hard are going to bring in under 2k a day, as you can see from the results, you would be losing money with 35 cows by day 5 or 6. You will HAVE to have some other method of earning money. Maybe you could sell everything, get the NH T6.160 with arms, mower and collection trailer and then do mowing and forklift missions while the cows make some money. That is the only way you might be able to survive the start without going bankrupt.

No, I think they only eat the higher rated stuff first, untill that runs out. Straw adds another 10% on top of those. With Mixed Rations is 90%, silage+grass is 70%. I woud not recommend selling the harvester untill you can get a baler (preferably the round one because lower stacks and you can use them for grass, hay and straw). Getting the second New Holland is the best option, though the smaller tractor (the red/orange one) can do the same things. And it might leave you with enough money to buy the baler or mixer.
+nekio15 actually with mixed ration its 100% - adding straw takes it to 110%. So you keep the harvester. I think that the Styer (red or orange) is a no go, because it cannot mow and collect at the same time (not enough horsepower) so you will have to double your work. Another option would be to keep one Agrostar and then buy the little New Holland to scoop silage... On Bjornholm you might not have enough money though because you have one less tractor - I see a part two in the near future :)
Good to be helpful! Still chugging away on my hard Coldbourough map. Got all my fields seeded with wheat, barley, canola and maize to stockpile. Doubled my cows and sheep (after only 3 days, getting lots of milk/day). Getting ready to harvest the fields.
Correct, and the finances to purchase said Krone are just not available at the start of the game. As you progress though, it becomes totally possibile.
Ah- if you mow and collect it in a loading wagon (the pottinger wagon scene at 18:50) - you can dump the loading wagon into that grass pile for a bit of money - its not much, but its something.
I have the same problem alot to do and zero help I feel like I'm just running around the map trying to get everything done 😞 I've got millions of dollars worth of equipment but one guy. can't trust the workers because they are always getting stuck or messing up when planting or harvesting lol!! also is there a limit to the amount of hay and straw you can bale? I made alot and some of it like half disappeared. also lost some of my wool off my trailer I was saving to sell wtf is that all about!?
Wow. there just may be a limit - I am not aware of any, but I haven't done as much. I do know that when you stack a bunch of bales together you can bring the game to a standstill.
i was playing with starting a farm with cows you can turn a profit on hard with no cheats or mods with 2 loading wagons with less than 20 cows but it never turns a profit if you speed through the day with speed time up mods you need to stay with stock speed just need grass and straw for them
Arthur Chapman the speed up time mod that I have affects all hourly incomes so solar panels wind turbines green houses and animal husbandry all make less a day on the same token I don't get charged as much for equipment running costs wich slowly gets taken out through our the day but interest on the loan still comes out at the same price at midnight
I fed my sheep but on the pda screen it is still saying that they have no food and productivity is only 15%, but when I tried to feed them again it said they are at max capacity for 6 days- Is this a bug? I am on the Bjornholm map.
Arthur Chapman I am on vanilla game and vanilla map, only bought the game on steam 2 days ago. I've verified the game cache, sold all my sheep and rebought them, still nothing.
i have always startet out with cows, and its way too easy, (medium game mode) just get a front loader or convayers a wagon and a lawnmover there u go :) i made smal money the first 5 nigths after that it went fast ! :)
Correct- they changed that in a patch after this video. If your a pc user you can download a mod that fixes that. If not, you will need to ted the grass or collect it with a loading wagon and feed the animals from the wagon
I couldn’t think of a single that would make a Farm Swiss, besides the fact that they use electric/moveable fences for their live stock. But you are right. I haven’t seen a single flat farm anywhere, not all are near mountains. But all are on rolling hills and some I wonder how they use any equipment without it tipping over.
