I tried modding and bricked 3 mice. Lol. Found your video and really interested in trying again using the method you posted on reddit. The gif image is not very clear though. Did you put the socket reversed? Or solder the shoulder of the socket on the underside (the switch pin side)?
This is actually amazing , good job. Not only for the sake of double-click , but also just trying out different switches for fun and see what you like the most. I'll stay tuned to see if you can find better sockets as you mentioned in other comments as i dont trust myself enough , lol.
Uh, I was looking for this mod long time ago. Actually haven't looking for :D I was just thinking about a couple of times but now I feel I have to try it on some of my mice :) . Thank you very much for this great video!
Thanks! If the PUC had easier access to the switches it would be the ultimate modular mouse with this hotswap mod. Let me know how it goes if you decide to do it!
Finally someone have brave guts to do that! I like the asus rog gladius but they are too expensive and limited availability. I find some omron switch sockets but no luck either. Soldering and desoldering makes these boards got damaged and trust me these micro switches is so hard to remove and I broke couple of mouse before specially if you dont have proper tools like me 😅
I purchased this mouse through r/MouseMarket, the level of craftsmanship is really incomparable to the mouse even stock, it is so much better now, amazing. Honestly, it's making me reconsider maining the superlight.
Is this mod impossible if the original land is small and the holes are small? I actually tried it, but by the time I made a hole big enough, the land had peeled off.
I thought the same, you can't do it on any mouse, the "land" need to be large enough, but you can may still scratch back the pcb a bit to solder them on it in my opinion. I had mouse in the past when I started modding, and soldered it's switches a lot and once the land came off, but I could manage to scratch the pcb a bit next to and soldered the pin there, and it is still working :) .
@@pmv1567 Thank you for your reply. I had a feeling that it would break the pcb so I tried this mod with a cheap Chinese mouse. It's a good practice table, so I'll try again after processing the pcb. And I'm sorry for my bad English.
Yeah I think it's all dependent on the size of the pad on the PCB. I have ruined one of these GPW PCBs by over-drilling. If you want to try it on an actual GPW PCB I would suggest buying an extra one from AliExpress: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001304525482.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7b145ec9b5MTUO&algo_pvid=865f8485-64b4-4b2d-8d86-28c0045d352b&algo_expid=865f8485-64b4-4b2d-8d86-28c0045d352b-0&btsid=0b0a556e16107498815078347e83af&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
@@Escaldi Wow, this is one of the best ways to safely run this mod. I will buy it immediately. Thanks to all the people for their advice. And I will continue to look forward to your genius ideas.
so is there no way to buy this for the superlight ? or a replacement one for the switches i tried my first switch swap and ive broke the pcb i think, while pulling a switch it also pulled some of the wiring going to the hole for the switch. sad times.😢
